(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged two drivers with impaired driving.
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program near Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County. A vehicle entered the RIDE and officers spoke to the driver. During the interaction, officers suspected the driver was impaired and utilized an approved roadside alcohol screening device on the driver.
The male was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Juran THANGAVELAUTHAPILLAI, age 32 of Bowmanville, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
The accused’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 6:45 p.m., officers received a report of a single motor vehicle collision in Wellington in Prince Edward County. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the driver of the vehicle. During the investigation, officers suspected that the driver was impaired and utilized an approved roadside alcohol screening device. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
Kyler RINGLET, age 41 of Picton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Fail to have insurance card
- Fail to surrender licence
- Fail to surrender permit
- Vehicle modified – fail to apply for new permit
Both individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on September 3, 2025.
