Joseph CASTONGUAY Arrested Following Collision

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences, after a report of a motor vehicle collision.

On December 30, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical services (EMS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 64, West Nipissing.

EMS transported the driver to the local hospital, with non-life threating injuries. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was also found to be a suspended driver.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph CASTONGUAY, 63 years-of-age, from Cache Bay, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6, 2025, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
