(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) -Driver facing impaired charge as a result of a collision.
On December 22, 2024, at 10:35 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Amiens Road in Middlesex Centre for the report of a collision involving two vehicles.
One involved vehicle fled the area prior to police arrival, however, was located not too far from the scene at which time a traffic stop was initiated.
The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex County OPP detachment.
As a result, Justin MATHERS, a 34-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
· Operation while impaired – drugs
· Dangerous operation
· Failure to stop after accident
· Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
· Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice February 7, 2025, to speak to the charges.
The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
