Two business employees assaulted

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after employees of a downtown business were threatened and assaulted Tuesday.

Just after 5 p.m. police were called to a business near Paisley Street and Norfolk Street. A male who had previously been banned from the business returned and began yelling at staff, threatening to kill them.

As he was being removed from the business he tried to punch two employees but did not make contact. None of the victims were physically injured.

Police were not able to locate the male. The investigation is ongoing.

Home entered while owner sleeping

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a home was entered this week while the owner was asleep.

On Tuesday officers were called to a residence near London Road East and Dufferin Street. The owner said she went to bed about midnight Monday and when she awoke Tuesday morning the front door was ajar and she noticed some property missing.

She checked dumpsters behind nearby businesses and was able to recover some of her property, but is still missing a laptop, cash and identification.

Arrest for punching two employees

A Breslau man has been arrested after two employees and a customer of a Guelph bar were assaulted earlier this month.

The early morning of December 7 two males were involved in an altercation inside a bar on Woodlawn Road West during which one was punched in the face. As a security employee was attempting to remove one of the males, he was punched in the face by another male.

A second security employee attempted to restrain that male and was bitten on the arm, causing it to bleed.

Officers arrived and arrested a 29-year-old Cambridge man and 29-year-old Toronto man on assault charges.

Further investigation revealed the involvement of a third suspect, who also assaulted the original victim and one of the employees who intervened. He fled before police arrived.

On Tuesday evening a 29-year-old Breslau man attended the police station and was arrested for two counts of assault. All three accused will appear in court January 21.
