(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in relation to threats made against an elected member of the Ontario government.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the OPP launched an investigation into threats made against Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. As a result of the investigation, Erik ADLER, age 40 of Burlington, was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death, under section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton on Monday, August 11, 2025.
This investigation was led by the OPP Protective Services Section (PSS), with assistance from the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Burlington OPP and Halton Regional Police Service.
