5 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Five individuals have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 9:19 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Main Street in Port Dover, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a pickup truck was travelling on Main Street when it collided with a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.

After conducting a roadside sobriety assessment at the scene, officers took the driver into custody without incident.

58-year-old Todd ROBERTS from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences: 

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Careless driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

At approximately 12:09 a.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, a Norfolk County OPP officer conducted a traffic stop and investigation on James Street in Delhi, Norfolk County.

After completing a roadside sobriety assessment, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

21-year-old Karragan STILSON from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Around 2:13 a.m. that same day, Norfolk County OPP officers, along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 24 in Townsend, Norfolk County.

It was determined that both a pickup truck and a sedan were travelling on Highway 24 when the pickup truck collided with the sedan.

As a result, the driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody without incident, while the driver of the sedan was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

28-year-old Adam HOGEVEEN from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·      Operation causing bodily harm,

·      Dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Around 6:43 p.m. that same day, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a suspected impaired driver on St. John’s Road East in Woodhouse, Norfolk County.

Officers located the vehicle on St. John’s Road East and took the driver into custody without incident.

32-year-old Morgan COPELAND from Haldimand County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Around 2:59 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

Officers located the vehicle on Norfolk Street North and, following a roadside sobriety assessment, took the driver into custody without incident.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.

31-year-old Travis JACOBS from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
