A south-end high school was briefly placed in hold and secure status Thursday morning following a weapons complaint later determined to be unfounded.
At 11:38 a.m. police were notified of a male possibly armed with a firearm in the parking lot of College Heights Secondary School on College Avenue West. The school entered hold and secure while several Guelph Police Service officers attended.
The subject was located five minutes after the original call was received and was detained for investigative purposes. No firearm was located and it was determined the original complaint was unfounded.
Cyclist, vehicle collide
No serious injuries were reported after a collision Thursday night between a cyclist and car.
Just before 9 p.m. the Guelph Police Service was called to the intersection of Stone Road East and Village Green Drive. Investigation revealed a 60-year-old cyclist rode into the crosswalk and collided with an SUV.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries, but declined medical attention. No charges were laid.
Theft suspect arrested again
A Cambridge woman accused of stealing nearly $10,000 in cash from her Guelph employer has been arrested again.
On March 12 police were called to a business near Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North. The manager reported an employee had removed $9,600 from the managers safe a few days earlier and was back on scene. Officers arrived and arrested the now-former employee.
A 25-year-old Cambridge woman was charged with theft over $5,000 and released with an April court date, which she did not attend. She was re-arrested Thursday and charged with failing to appear in court. She is now scheduled to appear June 18.
