Two Arrested For Thefts

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) � Two area residents are facing multiple Criminal Code (CC) charges after a series of shoplifting incidents at multiple retail stores on Pembroke Street East and Pembroke Street West in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV).
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated two thefts which occurred on April 11 and May 1, 2024.
As a result of the investigations, 48-year-old Ian HOPPER of Pembroke, was arrested and charged with the following CC offences:
Theft under $5000 � two counts
Failure to comply with probation � five counts
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 28, 2024.
UOV OPP officers further investigated thefts at TLV retail stores on April 11, April 15, April 17, and an assault complaint in Pembroke on April 20, 2024.
As a result of the investigations, 39-year-old Benjamin LUSH of Petawawa was arrested and charged with the following CC offences:
� Theft under $5000 � four counts
� Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
� Assault
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance on May 6, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
