Another Motorcycle Collision

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person is injured following a single motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of North Perth.

On September 30, 2026 the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Paramedic Services and North Perth Fire Department, responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Perth Road 173 and Perth Line 72.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. the lone occupant of the motorcycle lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The driver sustained serious injuries and was to a local trauma centre.

The intersection of Perth Road 173 and Perth Line 72 will remain closed while police continue their investigation. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Listowel: OPP, Stratford Police Arrest 22 Year Old Linked to Property Crimes Across Six Regions

(PERTH, ON) – Police have arrested one individual following multiple property crimes in Perth, Huron, Wellington, Oxford, Stratford, and Waterloo Region.

Throughout the month of September 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Stratford Police Service investigated several property crimes.

On September 23, 2025, members of the Perth County OPP along with the Community Street Crime Unit, located a stolen vehicle, in the town of Listowel, North Perth. The driver attempted to flee on foot however they were taken into custody without incident.

As a result, police charged 22-year-old, Tyler STANLEY, of West Perth with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (Three Counts)
  • Theft Over $5,000 (Two Counts)
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been held in custody following an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice, located in Stratford on September 24, 2025. Additionally, Stratford Police Service has charged the accused with multiple offences in relation to incidents that occurred in their jurisdiction.

Pedestrian Run Down In Listowel Crosswalk – Suspect At Large

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person is injured following a vehicle collision with a pedestrian in the Municipality of North Perth.

On September 12, 2025 the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation into a collision that occurred on September 5, 2025 at approximately 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Wallace Ave North and Campbell St East in the town of Listowel, where a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk before departing the area.

The vehicle and person of interest are described as:

  • Grey sedan
  • Elderly caucasian female with grey hair

The pedestrian that was struck by the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

West Perth Pervert Alert – OPP Withhold Name Endangering Community’s Children

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance involving an investigation that occurred over the weekend.

On September 14, 2025 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Perth County OPP responded to a report of a suspicious person near Montreal Street between St George Street and St Andrew Street in the town of Mitchell where a victim reported being approached by a male.

At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a second report of a suspicious person at the Lion’s Park in the town of Mitchell where a second victim reported being approached by a male. 

As a result, a 68-year-old from West Perth has been charged under the Criminal Code with two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 years of age. The accused was held for bail and subsequently remanded into custody.

Theft In Mitchell – Do You Recognize These People?

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Police are seeking the publics assistance with identifying a vehicle and persons of interest in relation to the theft of an e-bike in the Municipality of West Perth.

On August 2, 2025 the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation into the theft of an e-bike from Keterson Park in the Town of Mitchell.

The e-bike, which is described as a blue and black 2002 Daymak EM2 was stollen on July 30, 2025.

The persons of interest and vehicle are described as:

  • Short dark hair
  • Tattoos on right forearm and neck
  • Mustache or beard
  • Dark short sleeve shirt
  • Blue jeans
  • Dark footwear

Person of interest two:

Child Struck By Farm Equipment Sent To Hospital

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a farming accident that resulted in a child sustaining injuries in the Municipality of West Perth

On August 11, 2025 the Perth County OPP along with Perth County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a 12-year-old child that was struck by a farming implement and required medical attention.

The child was transported by EMS to a local trauma centre where his injuries were deemed to be non-life threatening. The child is expected to be released later today.

The Perth County OPP want to remind everyone to be safe when operating any type of machinery in the presence of children and to always be aware of their whereabouts and surroundings. Having basic life saving equipment on hand can help prevent and save a life. These items may include:

Home Invasion – 27 Year Old From Mitchell Arrested Again #3Strikes

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual following a break and enter and assault with a weapon in the Municipality of West Perth.

On July 19, 2025, the Perth County OPP launched an investigation after a receiving information that an individual broke into a residence and assaulted the homeowner with a baseball bat. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Jeremy WELSH, 27 years old of Mitchell, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order – Two counts
  • Assault with a Weapon

WELSH is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on June 25, 2025

Violent Home Invasion

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual following a home invasion at a residence in the Municipality of West Perth.

On July 12, 2025, the Perth County OPP launched an investigation after a receiving information that two individuals broke into a residence and assaulted the homeowner.

Daniel TIPERT, 33 years old of Stratford, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Break and Enter
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon

TIPERT is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on June 16, 2025

Driver & Passenger Arrested – Assault, Etc.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following an investigation into a report of impaired driving in the Municipality of West Perth.

On July 11, 2025 just before midnight, the Perth County OPP attended a local campground regarding a driver who was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Upon interacting with the driver and passenger, both individuals attempted to flee on foot after the passenger assaulted the responding officers.

Robert BAXTER, 45 years old of Cambridge, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Failure to Stop for Police – Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Joseph RICHARDSON, 37 years old of St. Mary’s, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Assault Peace Officer – Two Counts
  • Resist Peace Officer

Both individuals were held in custody and later released with a scheduled court date of August 11, 2025 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, Ontario.

Joshua MCKINNON Facing Numerous Charges

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following an investigation into multiple break and enters at a storage facility in the Municipality of West Perth.

On July 6, 2025, the Perth County OPP launched an investigation after a receiving information of break and enter occurrences that occurred earlier that day at a storage facility in the town of Mitchell.

Joshua MCKINNON, 43 years old of Woodstock, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Break and Enter – 7 Counts
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

MCKINNON is currently in custody on separate charges and will be arrested prior to release.

Police have identified a second individual and have issued an arrest warrant.

19 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual with multiple offences during a RIDE program in the Municipality of West Perth.

On June 23, 2025 shortly after 11:00 p.m. the Perth County OPP were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Perth Road 164 and Perth Line 20 when they observed a vehicle attempting to avoid police.

The vehicle was stopped and as a result, 19-year-old Riya BHATT of Brampton was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation while Impaired – Over 80, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Novice Driver B.A.C above zero, Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Care or Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available, Contrary to the Cannabis Control Act 2017.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Stratford on August 11, 2025.

Train Bridge Collision Stops Traffic

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision with a train bridge has resulted in train traffic being stopped in the Municipality of West Perth

On June 4, 2025 the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Perth Road 145, south of Perth Line 34 at the Goderich-Exeter Railway (GEXR) bridge. The bridge sustained damages that required trains to be stopped until repairs are completed.

Perth Line 145 will be closed between Perth Line 34 and Perth Line 32 for approximately one week. There is no estimated time for when the stop-train will be lifted and the bridge will be re-opened.

As a result of the police investigation, a 47-year-old, male resident of Stratford has been charged with the following offence:

Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The Perth County OPP wants to remind all drivers to always be aware of their surroundings, including height and weight restrictions for vehicles on specific roadways.

David KUNZLE Was Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Police have arrested one individual following a break and enter and theft of motor vehicle in the Municipality of West Perth

On May 23, 2025, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Perth Road 179 for a break and enter in progress where an unknown person was attempting to flee after stealing the homeowner’s vehicle.

26-year-old David KUNZLE of the Municipality of South Huron is facing the following charges under the Criminal Code:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

KUNZLE is being held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date.

Benninger & Newman Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with numerous offences following a single motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of West Perth

On March 21, 2025, shortly after 7:00 a.m., police responded a single motor vehicle rollover on Road 164 near Line 55 just outside of Monkton. The two occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation into the collision has resulted in both occupants of the vehicle being charged.

37-year-old Michael Benninger of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (two counts)
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)

38-year-old Ashley Newman of no fixed address has been charged with the following offence:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (two counts)

Both accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 28, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing charges following impaired driving investigations in West Perth on Sunday night.

On October 27, 2024 just before 6:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of West Perth. 

Tyler YOUNG, 45, of Powassan, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Dangerous Operation

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 2, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. 

Again on October 27, 2024, just before 11:00 p.m., the Perth County OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Maddison Street West, in the Municipality of West Perth. A vehicle stop was conducted, and as a result, the driver was placed under arrest.

Nolan HORNBY, 24, of Oshawa, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 2, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
