Stolen Van And Trailer Recovered – Christopher BLUM Arrested Again

(PERTH EAST, ON) – At approximately 9:30 a.m. on May 23 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by a citizen that a suspect in a white van had just stolen a trailer from a property in Tavistock, and the vehicle was travelling in Perth County.

Police located the van with the utility trailer a short time later, and arrested the driver. Through the investigation, it was determined that the van had also been stolen from a business in New Hamburg the previous night, and the driver was prohibited from driving.

The same suspect was also involved in a theft of fuel that had occurred at a property on Line 33, in the Township of Perth East on May 22 2020.

As a result, Christopher BLUM, 37, of the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock, has been arrested and charged with:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

Possession of Property Obtained by crime over $5000

Operation While Prohibited

Failure to Comply with release order

Theft Under $5000

Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on May 24 2020.

Theft From Construction Site

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 19, 2020 at 10:33 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a theft of construction equipment from a work site at the government docks off Howdenvale Road, South Bruce Peninsula. The complainant reported the theft of a (yellow) 2011 Allmand Brothers ML20V towable tower light valued at $5,000.

Sometime between May 15, 2020 and May 19, 2020, May long weekend, unknown person(s) removed the tower light.

Grey Bruce OPP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating this stolen property.

Child Sexually Assaulted – Jordan COBB Arrested

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged a resident of Norfolk County with multiple sexual related offences following an internet luring investigation.

This February the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Huron OPP Crime Unit began investigating after learning of information about a possible internet child luring case.

After a lengthy investigation, officers were able to determine the accused engaged in sexually explicit online communications with a 15-year-old victim. An in-person meet was later arranged whereupon the accused proceeded to sexually assault the victim.

Jordan COBB, 37 years of age, from Simcoe has been charged with:

Invitation to Sexual Touching – Person Under 16 years of Age

Sexual Assault

Sexual Interference

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 29, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Police Investigate Sudden Death

(MIDDLESEX OPP) On Tuesday May 26, 2020, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as the Middlesex OPP Major Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services entered into a death investigation at a home on Leesboro Trail in Thorndale where one person was located deceased within the home.

Members of the public can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues. Further updates will be provided when they become available.

While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, police want to remind the public that you should always be aware of your surroundings and personal safety.

$300,000 In Stolen Vehicles Recovered – Roy Tanner Cameron JENKINS Arrested

TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) have laid charges in relation to a May 17, 2020 incident where four pick-up trucks and two trailers were stolen from a landscaping company on Wellington Road 86 in Mapleton Township.

Investigation revealed that three suspects attended the business at 4:10 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. and stole the vehicles worth approximately $300,000. The vehicles have all been recovered and returned to the owner.

This investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available.

Roy Tanner Cameron JENKINS, 39-years-old of Waterloo has been charged with Theft Over $5000 X2, Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Over $5000, Operation While Prohibited and Public Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 28, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Teresa SHEARER Arrested At RIDE

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 26, 2020 at 11:27 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at Clarke’s Road, west of Highway 6, Northern Bruce Peninsula. An OPP officer stopped a (black) car and read a breath demand for an approved roadside screening device. The officer arrested the driver for operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol, after they failed the roadside test.

The driver was transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer operator at the detachment, recorded over three time the legal limit of 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged 58 year old, Teresa SHEARER from Northern Bruce Peninsula with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 30, 2020.

Break, Enter & Theft – Outboard Motor, Power Tools & Fishing Rods

(KINLOSS TWP, ON) – Members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate a break-in at a residence along Paradise Lake Street in Kinloss Township. Sometime between 1:00 p.m. on May 13, 2020 and 12:00 p.m. on May 20, 2020, a detached shed on the property was forcibly entered. The list of missing property includes a 6 horsepower Mercury outboard motor, Craftsman power tools, fishing rods, tackle boxes and a Minolta camera. The value of the stolen property is estimated to be $2,500.

40 Year Old From Listowel Caught Going 134 in an 80

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On May 15, 2020, at approximately 7:05 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 23 near the Fifth Line in the Town of Minto. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 134 km/h.

Kheder AL HASSAN, 40-years-old of Listowel has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on August 19, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

First heat event of the season continues this week.

Temperatures will peak again to near the thirty degree mark in many areas today. While temperatures Thursday will continue to be above normal, they will be a little lower than today due to more cloud cover and perhaps an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.

Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties will prevail again this afternoon.

A cold front will deliver considerably cooler and less humid air to Southern Ontario on Friday.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested – Walter SCHWEIGEL

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 24, 2020 at 12:25 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint at Bruce Street in Hepworth, ON involving a grey car being driven down the middle of the roadway in an aggressive manner, nearly causing a collision. Moments later, officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision, involving a grey car that had just driven into the ditch.

Several by-standers intervened and tried to offer assistance to the driver until Police arrived.

As a result of the investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Walter SCHWEIGEL, 58 years old from Toronto with:

Operation of motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Operation of motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

Resist a Peace Officer, section 129(a) CC

Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 16, 2020.

Hero Takes Down Plate Number Of Thief – Gary ELLIOTT Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with Theft & Possession of Stolen Property after he was caught stealing a Dixie Chopper riding lawn mower this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Huron County OPP responded to a Sawmill Road property where they spoke with the owner of the lawn mower. Police learned the lawn mower ran empty on gas so the victim left it unattended in a ditch on his property. The victim came back a short while later and noticed the machine missing.

Fortunately, an eye witness happened to come across the suspect as he was stealing the lawn mower. A licence plate of the suspect’s vehicle was obtained which proved to be helpful to the investigation. On May 24, 2020 officers executed a search warrant at a Central Huron property and successfully recovered the stolen lawn mower.

The accused was placed under arrest and taken into custody. Gary ELLIOTT, 50 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Tasered In Exeter – Hayley STEWARD

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an Exeter resident with a number of offences, including a Resist Arrest charge, following an incident that took place in Exeter this past weekend.

On Sunday, May 24, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to a Marlborough Street residence for a disturbance that was taking place on the front porch. Police were informed the accused was banging on the front door, yelling and was trying to get into the premise.

Minutes later an officer arrived and attempted to arrest the accused however she failed to comply with the officer’s instructions and continued to resist arrest. A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was utilized and ultimately the accused was taken into custody.

Hayley STEWARD, 26 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts and Fail to Comply with Release Order – two counts. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

24 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested After Crashing Into Garage Door

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On May 22, 2020 at 7:44 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an all-terrain vehicle collision at Bruce Road 10, near Park Head. The driver had crashed into a garage door. The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton for a breath test.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jesse BOYD-CHEGANO, 24 years old of Owen Sound, with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 23, 2020.

Stunt Drivers Charged – PFLEGER, LALLY, RHODES, HALL & NG

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Between May 22nd and May 24th, 2020 on Highway 6, in South-Bruce Peninsula, five motorists were charged with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Karl PFLEGER, 63, of South Bruce Peninsula, ON was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) on a motorcycle in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Anureet LALLY, 19, of Brampton, ON was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a car in a posted 80km/h zone.

Robin RHODES, 52, of Stratford, ON was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a Sport Utility Vehicle in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Parker HALL, 19, of Arran-Elderslie, ON was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a truck, pulling a commercial trailer, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Siu NG, 21, of Scarborough, ON was travelling over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a car, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

The Grey-Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed in one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways.

Sexual Assault X5, Overcome Resistance By Drug X11, Sexual Assault With a Weapon

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid numerous criminal charges against a Goderich resident as a result of a sexual assault investigation that commenced this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020 at approximately 12:44 a.m. Huron OPP members responded to a Gibbons Street residence to assist a victim that had dialed 9-1-1.

Ultimately the accused was arrested and taken into custody. A comprehensive investigation has resulted in numerous charges being laid against the accused.

A 30-year-old Goderich resident has been charged with the following offences:

Sexual Assault – Five counts

Sexual Assault with a Weapon

Forcible Confinement

Overcome Resistance by Administering a Drug – 11 counts

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date to answer to the charges.
