Hit And Run Driver Reports Vehicle Stolen – TAIT Charged

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Central Huron resident’s tale about his vehicle being stolen evidently didn’t add up and as a result he is now facing charges for misleading police with their investigation.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at approximately 6:06 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a pickup truck that had been stolen while the driver was inside a convenience store. Subsequent investigation led officers to Wildlife Line near Hydro Line Road where they recovered the vehicle disabled in a ditch.

With the assistance from West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and Canine investigators were able to determine the vehicle hadn’t been stolen rather it had been abandoned by the owner following a collision.

As a result, Huron OPP has charged Murray TAIT, 24 years of age from Central Huron with Public Mischief, Fail to Remain and Fail to Report Accident. He has a court appearance scheduled for September 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On July 5, 2020 at 07:43 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London EMS and Middlesex Centre Fire Dept. responded to a serious single vehicle collision on the 14000 block of Medway Rd. in Middlesex Centre. Police learned that an e/b motor vehicle crossed the centre line, left the roadway and entered the north ditch striking a hydro pole. Two adult occupants were transported by ambulance to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police have now identified that the driver, Ronald JAQUES – age 60- of London, ON died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision and a second, adult female passenger, is still being treated at a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team were deployed to the area and the investigation is on-going at this time.

Spike Belt Used On Hwy 21 To Stop Armed Driver – THOMPSON

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On July 5, 2020 at 12:48 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a person driving a motor vehicle around the community of Saugeen First Nation, ON in a dangerous and aggressive manner.

The driver was observed by members of the public, operating a blue car at a high rates of speed, running stop signs, and having a complete disregard for the safety of local pedestrians and cyclists on the roadway. The driver displayed an edged weapon at pedestrians and motorists and displayed a knife to a cyclist and threatened them.

Police located this vehicle on Highway 21 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, in a marked police cruiser, with emergency equipment activated. The driver stopped the car, got out of the vehicle with an edged weapon and had a verbal exchange with police. The driver then got back into the vehicle, conducted a U-turn and fled from police.

Police deployed a tire deflation device in front of the vehicle while it was westbound on Highway 21. The driver attempted to avoid the device and entered the ditch, crossed two fence lines and travelled approximately 500 metres across a farmer’s planted field, coming to a rest in a swampy wooded area.

The driver fled from the car on foot with an edged weapon. Police were able to negotiate with the driver who dropped the weapon and was arrested.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Emric THOMPSON, 48 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation with the following offences:

Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Assault with a weapon, section 267(a) CC

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) CC

Flight from police, section 320.17 CC

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on September 23, 2020.

CORR Arrested After Child’s Bike Stolen #HowLowCanYouGo

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Some good timing has led to the arrest and subsequent charges against an Exeter resident.

On Saturday, July 4, 2020 at approximately 9:00 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a child’s bicycle that was stolen sometime overnight from a Simcoe Street residence. Just as the call was received, a Huron OPP officer happened to spot a female sitting on a bicycle at a nearby business. The officer approached the female and it turned out the bicycle matched the description of the stolen bicycle. The officer attempted to arrest the female however she immediately bolted and took off on foot. Following a short foot pursuit the female was taken into custody.

Cassandra CORR, 28 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Resist Arrest. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hero Stops Bike Thief – 35 Year Old From Goderich Arrested #StandYourGround

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing criminal charges after he was caught trying to steal a bicycle in Goderich last week.

At approximately 1:37 p.m. on June 30, 2020 the victim contacted Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report someone had just attempted to cut the lock off of his bicycle that was secured behind a business located on West Street.

The owner interrupted the theft and the suspect fled the scene leaving behind another bicycle and his bolt cutters. The suspect was identified and police were able to later locate and arrest the accused.

Bailey MERRITT, 35 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Mischief and Possession of Break-in Instruments. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On July 7, 2020 at 7:32 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 13 near 3rd Line B, Grey Highlands. The collision involved a (blue) mini-van.

OPP officers were assisted at the scene by Grey County Paramedics and Grey Highlands Fire Department. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended to assist with the investigation.

The 31 year old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Stephen LAPPIN of Grey Highlands.

Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstance surrounding the collision.

32 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 32-year-old from Mossley will have to make a court appearance back in Huron County later this fall to answer to an Impaired Operation charge.

On June 29, 2020 at approximately 12:08 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a disturbance taking place in front of a residence located on Airport Line. OPP officers responded a short time later and located two subjects standing outside of a vehicle. Police investigation revealed the passenger of the vehicle was upset that the driver had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. Officers spoke with the driver and they determined the driver had indeed been driving while under the influence of alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Dustin THOMAS-MICKS, 32 years of age, from Mossley has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus & Impaired Operation. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

DAVIDSON Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On July 4, 2020, at approximately 2:45 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Highway 89 for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Officers searched the vehicle incident to arrest and located an open container of liquor that was accessible to the driver.

Jonathan James DAVIDSON, 24-years-old of Barrie has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code, Racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate a Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 4, 2020.

K9 Tracks Down Dwayne ROSTANT

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On July 4, 2020, at approximately 8:45 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of single motor vehicle rollover involving a possible impaired driving on Highway 6 near Clair Road in the Township of Puslinch. The vehicle was seen weaving prior to losing control entering the ditch and rolling over. Further information was received that the driver was leaving the scene and was last observed running through a cornfield.

Containment was set up and the OPP Canine Unit was dispatched. A search was conducted of the area and the driver was located. Police spoke to the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Dwayne ROSTANT, 32-years-old of Toronto has been charged with Impaired and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. Assault Investigation Leads To Multiple Charges

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 5, 2020 at 2:11 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of an assault that had occurred at a residence in Sauble Beach, ON. The suspect had already left the residence in a motor vehicle.

Officers located this vehicle on Lakeshore Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. Officers spoke to the female suspect and the male driver.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and was transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified breath technician at the detachment, recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Brooklynn ROULSTON, 25 years-of-age, from Brockton, ON with assault, section 266 Criminal Code of Canada (CC).

Grey Bruce OPP have also charged Ryan IRWIN, 27 years-of-age, from Brockton, ON with the following:

Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) CC

Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

Fail to comply with undertaking, section 145(4)(a) CC

Both of the accused parties were released on an Undertaking and they are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.

72 Year Old Attacks With Baseball Bat

(MEAFORD, ON) – On July 4th, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an assault at a residence at Sideroad 25, in the Municipality of Meaford.

OPP officers attended and located a group of young adults who advised that they had returned to a cottage after setting off some fireworks at the lake and they were confronted by a male with a baseball bat.

The male assaulted three victims with the bat, striking them in the shoulder areas. This male then smashed several windows of multiple vehicles before leaving the property.

The accused was identified and located later that night at a residence in Stayner, Ontario and was arrested and taken into custody.

Two of the victims were transported via ambulance to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The third victim did not require medical attention.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Robert GULLACHER, 72 years-of-age, from Meaford, ON with the following offences:

Three counts of Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),

Three counts of Mischief, contrary to section 430(3) CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 10, 2020.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) Mathew HEBBLETHWAITE, 24, of London, ON was travelling over 160 km/h in a silver car in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Mohammad MAYAR, 36, of Kitchener, ON was travelling over 140 km/h in a white car in this posted 80km/h zone.

Sivanesan RAJENDRAM, 44, of Scarborough, ON was travelling over 145 km/h in a white pick-up truck in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Salil CHAUHAN, 25, of Hamilton, ON was travelling over 145 km/h in a silver sport utility vehicle (suv) in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Gaurav BABBAR, 24, of Scarborough, ON was travelling over 145 kilometres per hour km/h in a grey car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Yaswanth ATLURI, 23, of Waterloo, ON was travelling over 145 km/h in a grey Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Zhi CHEN, 27, of North York, ON was travelling over 135 km/h in a black car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Simratpal SINGH, 20, of Kitchener, ON was travelling over 160 km/h in a grey SUV, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON)

Surendar THAMMINENI, 23, of Windsor, ON was travelling over 140 km/h in a white car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

Rajat MAHAJAN, 24, of Scarborough, ON was travelling over 150 km/h in a white car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested – BOWDEN

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On July 3, 2020, at approximately 10:05 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 109 near Concession 11 involving a possible impaired driver.

Investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was travelling westbound when they pulled out to pass another westbound vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle, struck the gravel shoulder and came to rest in the ditch.

Officers located the driver sitting in the vehicle and while speaking with them determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to a nearby OPP Operation Centre for further testing where they blew in excess of four times the legal limit.

Dana BOWDEN, 39-years-old of Arthur has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative driver’s licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 4, 2020.

Drunk Driver Charged – WINDSOR

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On July 2, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver on Cutting Drive in Elora. Further information was received by police that the driver was no longer in the vehicle and was walking near Bissell Park.

Officers located the driver and while speaking with them determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to a nearby OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Lisa Ann WINDSOR, 52-years-old of Elora has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) and Prohibited Driving contrary to the Criminal Code and Suspended Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. A 45-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 7, 2020.

29 Year Old Caught Going 115 in a 60 – PAGE

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at approximately 3:25 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 124 near Wellington Road 29 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer observed a westbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 60 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 115km/h.

Jessica Ashley Lee PAGE, 29-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on Septmber 16, 2020. The vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
