Another Break And Enter

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are actively investigating a break, enter and theft that took place in Egmondville this past weekend.

Investigators have since learned those responsible for the theft entered into an unattended and insecure Front Street residence sometime over the weekend and completed the theft. The suspects stole jewellery, cash and electronics.

A dollar value of the stolen property has yet to be obtained.

Victim Hit In Back Of Head – Repeat Offender Arrested – Justin REID

(MEAFORD, ON) – On July 8, 2020 at 11:33 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment complex at Highway 6 & 10, in the Municipality of Meaford.

OPP officers attended and located a victim, who had been struck in the back of the head with an unknown object, causing a minor head injury. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Justin REID, 23 years-of-age, of no fixed address, with the following offences:

Assault with a weapon, section 267(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Two counts of failure to comply with Release Order, section 145(5)(a) CC

Two counts of failure to comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2020.

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On July 4, 2020 at approximately 8:45 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of mischief at a business located on St. David Street north in Fergus.

Investigation revealed that sometime overnight between 9:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. unknown suspect/s vandalized the outside wall of the business with graffiti. The words TOAD DIM EH!”

29 Year Old Drunk Driver Charged – MARTINEZ

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On July 9, 2020, at approximately 3:40 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Highway 6 near Side Road 6 for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Ruperto MARTINEZ, 29-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code and Racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on September 11, 2020.

19 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On July 4, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near the Second Line. The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Theoharris MOUSKOS, 19-years-old of Waterloo has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on October 7, 2020. The vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Theft Of Patio Set From Business

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are looking for some tips from the public to help solve a theft of patio set that occurred in Exeter earlier this week.

On July 7, 2020 Huron OPP officers received information that a full patio set valued at approximately $1,200 was stolen from a business located on Thames Road East. The suspects entered the business property sometime around 2:30 a.m. and loaded the set into the back of a cargo truck.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Three drivers have had their licences suspended after they were charged for stunt driving by Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on Saturday afternoon.

The first stop was at 12:30 p.m. on July 4 2020, on Perth Line 72 in the Municipality of North Perth. A vehicle was observed travelling in excess of 130km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

The driver, Joseph LINDSAY, 33, of Huron East, was charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

The second incident was just before 2:00 p.m. on July 4 2020, on Perth Road 140 in the Municipality of North Perth. A vehicle was observed travelling in excess of 140km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

The driver, Luis GOMEZ CERON, 33, of Cambridge, was charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

The third incident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on July 4 2020, on Perth Road 140 in the Municipality of North Perth. Another vehicle was observed travelling in excess of 140km/h in the posted 80km/h zone.

The driver, Emanuel TAPAK, 25, of London, was charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

All three had their driver’s licences suspended for seven days, as per statute, and their vehicles were towed from the scene and impounded for seven days. The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Repeat Offender Arrested For Drunk Driving After Throwing Gun In Bushes – LUND

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Georgetown resident is facing a number of charges after he was caught breaking a bunch of laws this past weekend in Dashwood.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on July 4, 2020 an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrol in the village of Dashwood when a sport utility vehicle was observed travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR unit was used to measure the speed of the vehicle and it was found to be travelling at a speed in excess of 100 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.

Upon stopping the driver he exited his vehicle and quickly ran behind a business in an attempt to avoid the officer. The officer quickly caught up with the driver and he was taken into custody. During the course of the investigation a witness alerted the officer the accused had abandoned a firearm by tossing it in the bushes. Officers conducted a search and were able to seize an air pistol.

Additionally, while speaking with the accused, officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol so a roadside test was conducted and the accused registered a fail. The accused was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment and provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Further checks revealed the accused was currently prohibited from driving and was bound by court conditions to not possess any weapons.

Brian LUND, 22 years of age from Georgetown has been charged with:

Operation While Prohibited

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Fail to Comply with a Release Order

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On July 8, 2020 at 11:20 a.m. Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), London Police Service, Middlesex Centre Fire Dept. and Middlesex-London EMS responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highbury Ave. just north of 8 Mile Rd.

Police have confirmed that a collision occurred between a SUV and Tractor Trailer. As a result of the collision both vehicles became engulfed in fire. Police have also confirmed that one person has died as a result of the collision and a second driver was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Team has been deployed to the area to assist with the investigation. Highbury Ave. will be closed between 8 and 9 mile Rd. for the next 6-8 hours as the Investigation continues. Police are asking the public to take an alternate route and expect delays in the area.

Collision Takes Life

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Two people were injured after their car struck and killed a horse that was running loose in the Township of Perth East last week.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on July 04 2020, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services, and Perth East Fire Department responded to the collision on Perth Line 72, near Road 131. A car was travelling eastbound when it struck the horse on the roadway. The 25 year old driver and 27 year old passenger, both residents of Perth East, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The horse died at the scene.

There will be no charges as a result of this collision.

22 Year Old Caught Going 130 in an 80 – LEFEBVRE

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On July 7, 2020 at 6:42 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped an eastbound silver car on Grey Road 16, west of Highway 6, in the Township of Chatsworth, ON.

This car was travelling more than 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Blake LEFEBVRE, 22 years-of-age, from Owen Sound, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The driver was issued a Provincial Summons, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and the vehicle that he was operating was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

Double Drunk Driver Arrested – KUHL

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On July 6, 2020 at 4:16 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a single motor vehicle collision at Sideroad 2, near Grey Road 3 in the Township of Chatsworth.

The driver of a black car had lost control, left the roadway, striking a sign before coming to rest in the ditch.

Officers spoke with the driver and observed signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and was transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth for a breath test. The results of the breath test were over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Andrew KUHL, 47 years-of-age, from Annan, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

The accused has been released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 10, 2020.

Throwing Golf Balls And Swinging Club At People And Cars Ends With Arrest Of BENOIT – Methamphetamine A Factor

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 5, 2020 at 8:39 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance on Main Street in Sauble Beach, ON.

A female was observed entering a local mini golf business in Sauble Beach, where she started pulling on some nearby shrubbery. Once on the property the female grabbed a bucket of golf balls and began throwing them around. The female then left the business with a golf club in hand and began swinging it around at cars and people as she walked down the road towards the beach.

Police received multiple complaints regarding this female.

With the assistance of by-law officers, police located and arrested the female on the beach area, near Lakeshore Boulevard.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Devyn BENOIT, a 28 year old from Ottawa, ON with causing a disturbance, section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and possession of a Schedule 1 substance, (Methamphetamine), section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The accused was release on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.

21 Year Old Arrested After Being Caught With Teen In Back Seat – Marshall GREEN

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A pair of London residents are facing criminal charges after they were caught failing to comply with conditions of a court release following a police investigation that took place last week.

On June 30, 2020 at approximately 6:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer’s attention was drawn to a motor vehicle that was parked on London Road in front of the Clinton Detachment by the loud blaring music and yelling coming from inside the vehicle.

The officer conducted a traffic stop to investigate what all the commotion was about and upon doing so he located the two accused together in the backseat of the vehicle. Some checks were completed and they revealed the two accused were not supposed to have any contact with each other due to a condition of their release.

As a result, Marshall GREEN, 21 years of age from London and a 17-year-old youth from London are each facing charges of Fail to Comply with a condition of an Undertaking. GREEN has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice. The Youth remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 8, 2020.

Gregory STEPHENS Charged Following Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On July 6, 2020 at 8:25 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 10, just north of the Village of Berkeley, ON.

The driver of an orange car was southbound on Highway 10, when they lost control, struck the guard rails, and then crossed over to the northbound lane and struck that guard rail as well, before coming to rest. The driver was not injured.

Officers spoke with the driver and detected an odour of alcohol and cannabis on the driver’s breath. The driver was read the approved screening device demand but refused several times to provide a breath sample. The driver was arrested and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Gregory STEPHENS, 33 years-of-age, from Holland Centre, ON with refusal to comply with demand, section 320.15(1) Criminal Code of Canada and careless driving, section 130(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 10, 2020.
