Ipad Stolen During Break And Enter

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On July 9, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter that occurred at a residence on Whites Road in Palmerston in the Town of Minto.

Investigation revealed that sometime between July 8, 2020 at approximately 11:00 p.m. and July 9, 2020 at approximately 6:00 a.m. an unknown suspect gained entry in the main floor apartment thru an insecure window and stole an Apple Ipad Mini in a blue leather case.

Break And Enter At LCBO

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On July 13, 2020 at approximately 2:40 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm call at the LCBO located on Wellington Road 109 in the Town of Arthur.

Upon arrival police confirmed that the business had been broken into and determined that suspects gained entry thru the roof. A quantity of alcohol was stolen.

Wellington County OPP and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) continue to investigate.

Clandestine Synthetic Drug Lab Dismantled

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On July 16, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce CSCU, the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and uniform officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at an address on Wellington Road 32 near Highway 7.

During the execution of the search warrant, a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory was discovered within the residence. OPP specialty units including the Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team, UCRT along with the assistance of the Guelph Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshall, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Hazardous Material Team dismantled the lab safely.

As a result of the search warrant, a quantity of illicit drugs in various stages of completeness including a bulk amount of finished product, trafficking materials and four firearms were seized. Stolen property was also located during the search.

Peter SCHMIDT, 50-years-old of Guelph-Eramosa Township faces the following charges:

Produce a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime

Possession of Prohibited Device

Careless Storage of a Firearm X3

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

July 18 – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a red mini-van on Highway 10, near Flesherton, in Grey Highlands that was travelling over 135 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Frishta HITAFAQ, 41 years-of-age, from Richmond Hill, ON.

All of these drivers were issued a provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

39 Year Old From Stratford Caught Going 130 in an 80

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after they were speeding more than 50km/h over the limit in Perth East last week.

On July 16 2020, just after 1:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in an 80km/h limit zone. During the investigation, the driver was unable to produce their insurance card, and the vehicle only had one headlight.

As a result, Navaneethan NAVARATNAM, 39, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

Drive without Proper Headlights – motor vehicle

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

28 Year Old Repeat Offender Arrested Following Assault – PENNY

(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – On July 19, 2020, at 3:49 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault in progress at a motel on River Road West, Wasaga Beach. Multiple witnesses stated a male was repeatedly punching another male who was screaming for help, outside of a motel room.

Officers attended the area and located the involved parties. Investigation at the scene led police to arrest and charge one male for multiple Criminal Code offences.

As a result of the investigation, Johnathan PENNY, 28 years of age, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

CC 145(5)(a) – Failure to comply with release order

CC 264.1(1)(a) – Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

CC 266 – Assault

CC 348(1)(b) – Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence

CC 430(1)(a) – Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused was held for a bail hearing by video on July 20, 2020.

8 Year Old Dies Following Collision – 33 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Causing Death Charge – BREE

(MIDDLESEX, ON) On Friday July 17, 2020 at 9:54 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire, and Middlesex-London EMS responded to a serious two vehicle collision at the intersection of Egremont Dr. and Hickory Dr. located in the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe.

The intersection was closed for several hours as members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) assisted with the investigation.

Four people from one vehicle were transported to hospital by EMS, three with minor injuries and one youth with life threatening injuries.

The youth female passenger later died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. The deceased has been identified as Nihal TOOR – age 8- of London, ON.

During the investigation Police learned that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle had been impaired. The driver was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Strathroy OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Alicia VAN BREE -33 years of age- of Strathroy, ON with:

CC 320.14(1)(b) Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

CC 320.14(3) Operation causing death.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on September 10, 2020 to speak to the charges.

Masked Carjacker Threatens With Weapon – BOLO Stolen Silver Mercedes GLK350 SUV Plate: CCZB 136

(ARRAN TWP, ON) – On July 16, 2020 at 10:01 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle theft.

Between 9:45 p.m. on July 16, 2020 and 9:55 p.m. on July 16, 2020, a motorist stopped along Bruce County Road 10 in Arran Township to check on a pedestrian. The pedestrian brandished a weapon and demanded the driver exit the vehicle. The suspect was last seen heading northbound on Bruce County Road 10.

The pedestrian was dressed in black and wearing a mask, there are no other descriptors available.

The vehicle is a silver Mercedes GLK350 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with licence #CCZB 136. A photo of a similar vehicle is attached to this media release.

Heated Argument Ends With Arrest Of 28 Year Old

(CHESLEY, ON) – On July 16, 2020 at 5:31 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance along 5th Avenue south west in Chesley. Officers arrived and located a group of people involved in a heated argument.

As a result of the initial investigation, a 28-year-old resident of Arran-Elderslie Township was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is continuing and further details will be released when they become available.

Homicide Investigation Update – Police Seek Pickup Truck

(MIDDLESEX OPP) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking the public’s assistance to locate an outstanding pickup truck involved in a homicide investigation on the Oneida of the Thames First Nation. The pickup is described as an older model Chevrolet Silverado, green in colour, with large side rear-view mirrors. The truck is also believed to have loose tires in the truck bed.

On Monday, July 13, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of Oneida Police Service, Middlesex County OPP, along with Middlesex OPP Major Crime Unit, responded to a homicide at a Clara Road property on Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation. The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound and a 43 year-old man was charged with First Degree Murder.

The investigation remains ongoing, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after they were speeding more than 68km/h over the limit in West Perth last weekend.

On July 12 2020, just before 2:30 p.m., police stopped a rental vehicle on Line 20, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 148km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Christopher ST DENIS, 21, of Guelph, has been charged with:

17 Year Old Caught Going 130 in an 80

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A young driver from North Perth has had their licence suspended for a week after they were caught racing.

Just before 07:30 p.m. on July 11 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of North Perth, when a motor vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pulled over north of Listowel after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.

As a result, a 17-year-old driver from North Perth has been charged with:

At 11:19 a.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

A line of thunderstorms from Lucan to Seaforth may be producing several tornadoes.

– Wind gusts of 100 km/h.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
