135 in an 80 – GIRDLER

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On July 29, 2020 at 10:22 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a northbound grey pick-up truck for stunt driving on Grey Road 17, near Concession 20, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

This truck was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Mitchell GIRDLER, 25 years-of-age, from Georgian Bluffs, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was issued a Provincial Summons, a seven day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

Dog Rescued From House Fire – 23 Year Old Charged With Arson, Breach & Injury To Animal – NOTHOF

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Goderich resident in connection with a house fire that occurred in Goderich last week.

At approximately 12:52 a.m. on July 24, 2020 Huron County OPP & Goderich Fire Department responded to a single dwelling house fire located on Bennett Street East. Upon arrival Goderich Fire Department was able to control the fire and ultimately get it extinguished. Police officers also rescued a large dog that was trapped in the basement of the home.

Preliminary estimates indicate the damages to the home to be around $100,000.

Members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit assisted the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) with this investigation.

As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged 23-year-old Eugen NOTHOF with the following charges:

Arson – Damage to Property

Cause damage or injury to animal – Fail to provide care or shelter

Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Two Counts

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Theft Of Metal Roofing

(POINT CLARK, ON) – On July 29, 2020 at 11:24 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from an address along Huron Road in Point Clark. Sometime between 10:00 p.m. on July 28, 2020 and 8:00 a.m., on July 29, 2020, a quantity of metal roofing was taken. The roofing was piled on a skid awaiting a planned installation date. The value of the stolen roofing is estimated to be $600.

24 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(SAUGEEN TWP, ON) – On July 26, 2020 at 7:02 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on patrol stopped a vehicle along Bruce County Road 3 in Saugeen Township. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Massoud ISMAIL ZADA, 22-years-old, of Guelph was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2020 to answer to the charges.

24 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving & Hit And Run Charges – KAUFMAN

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Drumbo man is facing some driving related charges including Impaired Operation following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this month.

On July 11, 2020 at approximately 1:21 a.m. Huron OPP officers received a call from a Bluewater Highway homeowner that reported a suspicious person was at his doorstep requiring assistance.

Police arrived shortly thereafter and located the suspect and his damaged pickup truck. With some further investigation officers were able to determine the suspect had been involved in a crash a few kilometers away where suspect’s pickup truck collided with the guard rail.

While speaking with the driver police noted the accused had consumed some alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. He was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment and he provided two samples of his breath to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Taylor KAUFMAN, 24 years of age from Drumbo has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, Fail to Remain and Fail to Report Accident.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 2, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

ATV Stolen While Farmer Checks On Crops

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a recent theft of a Honda ATV that was stolen out of a bean field located on Halls Hill Line.

Police received information that on July 17, 2020 sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. the ATV was stolen after it had been left unattended with the key in the ignition.

The owner returned and he observed the suspect driving away on his machine heading east on Zion Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age with a black goatee.

The stolen ATV is described as a red 2019 Honda 500 cc, 4-wheel drive ATV with a tow bar attached to the front. The ATV is valued at approximately $9,000.

Speeding Drunk Driver Charged – FEHRENBACK

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On July 23, 2020 at 8:51 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 3 in Brant Township noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 110 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. After stopping the vehicle, the officer determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Joseph FEHRENBACK, 27-years-old, of Waterloo was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Speeding. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Drugged Driver Found In Ditch By Police – FISHER

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Bluewater resident has been charged with Impaired Operation following a citizen traffic complaint investigated by police this past weekend.

At approximately 1:24 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about an erratic driver travelling on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway. Officers immediately began patrolling for the vehicle and a little while later officers located the suspect vehicle in the ditch near Blue Bluff Road.

Upon checking on the driver officers noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment. He was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. After determining the suspect was not impaired by alcohol he was tested by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). The driver complied with the tests and he was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

Martin FISHER, 46 years of age, from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Operation by a Drug. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested Following Collision In Mitchell – BURBINE

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Stratford resident is facing Impaired Driving charges after he caused a pretty big crash in Mitchell this past weekend.

At approximately 11:07 p.m. on July 25, 2020 Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Mitchell Fire Department and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a crash on Huron Road in Mitchell.

Officers arrived to find a sports car that was travelling westbound on Huron Road left the roadway whereupon it initially collided with two parked vehicles. The second parked vehicle that was struck then careened into a third parked vehicle that in turn struck a residence. Three parked vehicles, a home, a tree and three front yards were all heavily damaged.

A homeowner provided aid by extinguishing an engine fire and assisting the uninjured driver.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of his breath to an Intoxilzer Technician. Both samples were analyzed and they were found to be over the legal limit.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 21, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Stratford.

(HURON TWP, ON) – On July 21, 2020 at 10:49 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along Highway 21 in Huron Township. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Ross HYMERS, 32-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2020 to answer to the charge.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On Monday, July 27, 2020, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged another five (5) motorists with stunt driving – 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

09:45 a.m. – Highway 6, north of Wiarton – Prabha SASIDHARAN, 27 years-of-age from Scarborough, ON was travelling over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

2:27 p.m. – Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, – Ouejdane KHARROUBI, 21 years-of-age from Toronto, ON was travelling over 150 km/h in the posted 80 km/h speed limit. This driver was also charged with careless driving and Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, both Highway Traffic Act offences.

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON)

11:07 a.m. – Highway 6, near Hellyer Road, – Brent KELLEY, 32 years-of-age from Etobicoke, ON was travelling over 140 km/h in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

1:12 p.m. – Highway 6, near Little Pike Bay Road, – Satinder SINGH, 24 years-of-age from Hamilton, ON was travelling over 130 km/h in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

2:25 p.m. – Highway 6, near Lawrence Road, – Arpit SHARMA, 20 years-of-age from Oshawa, ON was travelling over 130 km/h in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

All of these drivers were issued provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

July 24 -10:59 p.m. – Taylor DRUER, 22, from Lakeshore, ON was travelling over 135 km/h in a red sport utility vehicle (suv) in this posted 80km/h zone.

July 25 – 5:49 p.m. – Hongxian ZHU, 24, from Toronto, ON, was travelling over 130 km/h in a grey suv in this posted 80 km/h zone.

July 26 – 10:14 a.m. – Matthew MACDONALD, 30, from Toronto, ON, was travelling over 130 kilometres km/h in a grey car in this posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were served a Provincial Summons, issued a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

Fight At Campground Leads To Impaired Charge

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 25, 2020 at 9:32 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a group of males that were arguing and fighting with each other at a campground on Cape Heard Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Officers attended this location and stopped a brown sport utility vehicle (suv) that was exiting this camp ground, as staff advised that this vehicle was involved in the dispute. Officers spoke to the male driver and formed grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and he was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer operator at the detachment, recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Kelly ROBBINS, 27 years-of-age, from West Grey, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 1, 2020.

Shots Fired – Six Arrested

(MIDDLESEX, ON) On July 26, 2020 at 08:09 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Canine Unit and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service responded to reports of multiple gun shots on the 400 block area of Middlemiss Drive, located on the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

Police soon arrived on scene and confirmed active gunshots in the area. As a result of an investigation, officers located seven adults at the scene. All involved parties were detained without incident.

Police located and seized three handguns, a large number of spent casings, three high-capacity magazines, six standard magazines, a large quantity of ammunition, Canadian currency, suspected cocaine, hashish and fentanyl.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

As a result of an investigation, police have charged Tiffani MARTIN, 31-years-old, of London, ON, with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (CC) – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) – two counts.

Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code – two counts.

Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place – contrary to section 8(1) (a) of the Cannabis Act.

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section CC 354(1) (a) of the Criminal Code.

Police have also charged Katryna HICKSON – age 23- of London, ON with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the CC – three counts.

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Police have also charged Patrick ANGUS – age 36- of Brampton, ON, with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Police have also charged Anthony MCLEAN – age 32- of London, ON with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code – two counts.

Police have also charged Jahmahl THOMPSON -age 28- of Brampton, ON with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Police have also charged Dave TIMOLL -age 38- of Brampton, ON with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code- three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Police have also charged Tyrell TIMOLL -age 26- of Ajax ON with:

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code – three counts.

Six accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in London on October 19, 2020.

The accused Tiffani MARTIN has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in London on July 29, 2020.
