Austin CICCAGLIONE – Impaired Driving

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On August 22, 2020 at 9:05 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a red pick-up truck with an attached trailer. The driver of the truck had lost control, hit the gravel shoulder and left the roadway, colliding with the ditch on Highway 6, near Southgate Road 12, in the Township of Southgate.

Grey County Emergency Medical Services and the Wellington North Fire Department assisted officers at the scene. The driver and a passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and was transported to Wellington OPP detachment in Teviotdale for a breath test. The results of the breath test were over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Austin CICCAGLIONE, 30 years-of-age, from Stoney Creek, ON with the following offences:

Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused has been released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 29, 2020.

Kendall CAZABON – Drunk Driving

(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – On August 21, 2020 at 9:20 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Bruce County Road 3 in Elderslie Township. Officers attended with members of the Paisley Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find the vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest in a field. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Kendall CAZABON, 27-years-old, of Simcoe was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 21, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Irfan KHALID – 140 in an 80

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 7:29 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a motorist on Highway 6, near Greig Settlement Road, in South Bruce Peninsula, with stunt driving – 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

Irfan KHALID, 61 years-of-age from Milton ON, was travelling over 140 km/h in a (white) sport utility vehicle, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The accused was issued a Provincial Summons, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The Grey Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed is one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways.

Restaurant Window In Mount Forest Shot

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On August 22, 2020 at approximately 4:00 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons incident at a business on Main Street North in the Town of Mount Forest.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a single projectile, which is believed to be a bullet, pierced the window of a restaurant and came to rest on the floor.

There were customers and staff inside the business at the time of the incident and no one was injured.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety at this time.

Officers canvassed homes in the surrounding rural area and were advised that it sounded like someone was possibly target shooting around the same time that the incident occurred.

Wellington County OPP along with the OPP Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate.

Missing Person Found Deceased

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On August 19, 2020, members of the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing male. Joshua THOMPSON, twenty-seven-years old of Owen Sound was last seen leaving his residence in a white mini-van on the morning of August 19, 2020.

The vehicle was later located at the West Rocks Management Area in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, and an extensive search of the area was conducted.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., on August 22, 2020, Joshua THOMPSON was located deceased at the West Rocks Management Area. His death has been deemed non-suspicious.

29 Year Old From Hanover Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CHESLEY, ON) – On August 20, 2020 at 9:07 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along 1st Avenue south in Chesley. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Jamien UNRAU, 29-years-old, of Hanover was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 25, 2020 to answer to the charge.

26 Year Old From Gorrie Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(HOWICK, ON) – A Gorrie resident has been charged with Impaired Operation – Over 80 following a traffic stop conducted by police last weekend in Gorrie.

At approximately 12:22 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle on Albert Street South in Gorrie.

Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking some alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. He was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation – Over 80 and was transported to back to detachment for further testing. The driver provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were over the legal limit.

Orlando David PEREZ PEREZ 26 years of age from Gorrie has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Methamphetamine Bust – CASKENETTE

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing numerous charges after a traffic stop in the Municipality of North Perth last weekend.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on August 16 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle that was travelling on Wallace Avenue North. The plates on the vehicle were not authorized for the vehicle, and upon arrest, the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and identity documents belonging to other people. The driver was also not licenced, and the vehicle was not insured.

As a result, Amanda CASKENETTE, 33, of New Hamburg, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of an Identity Document (3 counts)

Drive Motor Vehicle, no licence

Operate a Motor Vehicle without insurance

Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

No Lights Leads To Impaired Charge – STOLZ

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a person for driving while impaired by alcohol.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on August 15 2020, a Perth County OPP officer on patrol observed a vehicle towing a dump type trailer, and the trailer did not have any rear lights. The vehicle was stopped on Perth Line 55, and the driver was showing signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Mark STOLZ, 61, of Huron East, has been charged with:

Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

No Red Light on Rear of Trailer

Driving Motor Vehicle with Open container of liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Victim Trapped In Deep Trench Rescued Then Airlifted To Hospital

(HURON EAST, ON) – On Thursday, August 20, 2020 at approximately 10:20 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and Seaforth Fire Department responded to a call for assistance at an Egmondville property located at the corner of Kippen Road and Stapleton Avenue.

A contractor was working at a vacant lot when an excavated area collapsed around the victim trapping the victim in a deep trench.

The victim was quickly freed from the pile of dirt and was rushed to hospital.

A 64-year-old victim remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified to assist with this investigation.

One Airlifted Following Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was seriously injured after a collision on Line 34 last weekend.

Just after 7:00 p.m. on Friday August 14 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Stratford Police Service, Perth County Paramedics and the Perth East Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on Line 34 near Road 125, just east of Sebringville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a pick-up truck with trailer was travelling eastbound on Line 34, and stopped at Road 125 waiting to turn northbound. A Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.), also travelling eastbound, collided with the back of the truck and trailer.

The lone occupant of the S.U.V, a 37 year old St. Marys resident, sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and as a result was transported to hospital via Ornge Air Ambulance.

Two Injured In Hensall Industrial Accident

(BLUEWATER, ON) – On Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at approximately 11:21 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and Hensall Fire Department responded to an industrial accident that occurred at a feed mill located on Nelson Street in Hensall.

Two employees were injured when a skid fell on them.

Both have been transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The Ministry of Labour has been contacted to assist with this investigation.

Ripley Drug Bust – DRUMMOND & MACDONALD

(RIPLEY, ON) – On August 16, 2020 at 11:37 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along Huron Street in Ripley. The officer located a quantity of drugs in the vehicle and both occupants were charged.

Angela DRUMMOND, 57-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 28, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Kurtis MACDONALD, 27-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing scheduled for August 17, 2020.

Assault At Restaurant – Christopher PALMER Arrested

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 16th, 2020 at 12:08 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at a restaurant on Bruce Street in Hepworth, ON.

A group of young adults, who were at the restaurant, were confronted by two older adults and they argued. The situation escalated to physical violence and one person was punched, resulting in minor injuries to the victim. The fight ended and the older males drove away from the restaurant. The licence plate was provided to police.

Police located and stopped this involved vehicle on Highway 10 in Grey Highlands, ON.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Christopher PALMER, 41 years-of-age, from Scarborough, ON with assault, section 266, Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and must appear in Ontario Court of Justice on October 27, 2020.
