On Monday May 19, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., three children under the age of 12 years were playing at the creek bed located off Parkside Drive near the back of the Sunnydale Place complex in Waterloo. A male approached the location and spoke with one of the girls. The male then got closer to her and continued the conversation. He was then seen touching the girl. The children decided to return home and police were called.

Police searched the area without success. No one was injured. The male is described as White, approximately 6′ to 6′ 2 medium build in his 20’s. He had light brown hair curly hair and no facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark colored top. Police attended the area but the male was gone. Waterloo Regional Police General Division Detectives in partnership with Waterloo Fire Rescue and the Ontario Fire Marshall continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fire and are appealing to the community for any information that will assist in determining the cause. At approximately 01:40 A.M on May 18 2014 a Waterloo resident observed a motor vehicle on fire in the driveway of 93 Marshall St. Waterloo. Waterloo Fire Rescue responded along with Regional Police and found the vehicle fully engulfed. The fire had spread to a second car, the carport and the house itself. Emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire, however the fire destroyed both cars and caused significant damage to the house. A third car parked in the neighboring driveway also sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire is not yet known and the Ontario Fire Marshall will be investigating. There was nobody in the house and the vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the fire. A damage estimate has not yet been determined. On May 19th, 2014, at 11:43 p.m., two culprits used a stolen pick-up truck to smash through the doors of a grocery store in New Hamburg. Once inside the store, the culprits used the truck to remove the ATM machine. The culprits fled in a second vehicle parked nearby, leaving the stolen truck behind. One of the culprits is described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, and two hundred thirty pounds. He was wearing dark sneakers, dark pants, a light grey hoodie, and a dark balaclava with a single hole for his nose and eyes. Location: WOOLNER TRAIL and LOWER MERCER ST, KITCHENER ON Canada
Monday, May 19, 2014, 6:47 p.m, a sixteen year old Kitchener female was riding her bicycle along a downslope on Lower Mercer St. in the city of Kitchener. The bicycle did not have functioning brakes and as a result as she approached the intersection of Lower Mercer St. and Woolner Trail, she lost control and hit a vehicle traveling eastbound along Woolner Trail. The cyclist did not have a bell or horn attached to her bicycle, and was not wearing a helmet. She was transported to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending.

On May 19 2014, a resident at 529 Church Street South Cambridge was doing some exterior plumbing work when sparks from a torch ignited the wall underneath the exterior siding. Family members smelled smoke inside the home and called 911. Waterloo Regional Police and Cambridge Fire Department responded. The area was vented and fire extinquished by CFD. The fire was extinguished. Damage estimated at $1000.

On Friday May 16, 2014 at 11:36pm a male driver was arrested for drug related offences at Westheights Drive and Blackwell Drive in the city of Kitchener after a routine traffic stop. Police located 77grams of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana by police. The adult male was later released, he will have to attend court on July 4, 2014 to answer to these charges.

On May 18th 2014 at approximately 1 p.m., a male suspect took some merchandise while exiting a convenience store on Highland Rd. E. Kitchener. The suspect was confronted by the store employee before leaving about the unpaid merchandise. The suspect assaulted the employee and fled the store on foot. The employee was not seriously injured. The suspect was last seen on Spadina Ave and is described as a white male 30-40 yrs old, short hair, black baseball hat and jean shorts cut below his knees. On May 16th, 2014 shortly after 11am a 46 year old woman was walking along a pathway in the area of Bellview Avenue Kitchener, when she was approached by two males with covered faces. She was pushed to the ground by the males and her money was stolen. The two males were last observed running towards Belleview Street.
