Sexual Assault – George Patrick MCPOLIN

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – On September 19, 2020 at approximately 9:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a historical sexual assault that occurred at an address in the County of Wellington in March 2016.

As a result of the investigation, George Patrick MCPOLIN, 38-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a future date to speak to the charge.

The accused also faces an additional two counts of sexual assault involving a separate victim, stemming from an incident that was reported to Wellington County OPP in July of this year.

20 Year Old From Mildmay Facing Sexual Assault Charge – CORBET

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On September 20, 2020 at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sexual assault at a Town of Minto address.

As a result of the investigation, Wayne Jeffrey CORBET, 20-years-old of Mildmay has been charged with Sexual Assault On A Person Under 16 Years of Age and Sexual Interference contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a future date to speak to the charges.

Marijuana Theft – Ricky EDWARDS, Carl Thomas BURSEY & Jessica Lee WILBEE

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On September 19, 2020 at approximately 12:55 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a rural property in Guelph-Eramosa Township. It was reported that a premise was entered and marihuana had been stolen.

Uniform officers responded to the area and the OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers were activated. While responding to the area police observed suspects running towards a parked motor vehicle and after a brief investigation took them into custody. A duffel bag containing fresh marihuana was seized along with break and enter tools and a BB handgun which was located inside the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that all the accused involved were prohibited from possessing firearms.

Ricky EDWARDS, 35-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence, Theft Under $5000, Possession of Break In Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime and Failure to Comply With Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code.

Carl Thomas BURSEY, 45-years-old Guelph has been charged with Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence, Theft Under $5000, Possession of Break In Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime and Failure to Comply With Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code.

Jessica Lee WILBEE, 36-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Break and Enter Commit Indictable Offence, Theft Under $5000, Possession of Break In Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime and Failure to Comply With Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code.

All accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on October 20 to answer to the charges.

Jonathan AGUIRRE – Drunk Driving

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On September 18, 2020 at 2:14 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle striking a road sign, then driving off along Bruce County Road 1 in Greenock Township. The involved vehicle was located and officers found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Jonathan AGUIRRE, 31-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 18, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Break And Enter To Seaforth Business

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a recent break and enter that took place at a Seaforth business.

On September 10, 2020 at approximately 5:40 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a motion alarm that was tripped at a business located on Huron Road. Upon arrival officers located a rear window that had been removed from the building. A search of the building was completed however the suspect had already vacated.

Nothing was reported as stolen as it appears as though the alarm scared off the intruder.

A Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) also attended the scene to examine evidence that was left at the scene.

19 Year Old Drinking Driver Rolls Vehicle

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A teenager from South Huron is fortunate to have escaped serious injuries after he rolled his car this past weekend west of Exeter.

At approximately 9:37 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle crash located on Huron Street.

Upon arrival officers located a heavily damaged vehicle approximately 50 metres off the road into a field. The driver escaped the crash with some minor injuries however his vehicle was completely demolished and he will now have to attend court to answer to his charges.

A 19-year-old from Exeter has been charged with Careless Driving, Young Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above Zero and Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above Zero. He will have to attend Provincial Offences Act court later this fall to answer to the charges.

Goderich Road Rage Ends With Arrest Of Joseph TREBISH

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing charges after a road rage incident took place this weekend in Goderich.

On Sunday, September 20, 2020 at approximately 2:50 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to Bayfield Road to investigate a possible road rage incident. Upon speaking with the victim police learned the accused took exception with the vicitim’s driving and began honking at him because he was slow to respond to a green light.

When both drivers parked their vehicles in a parking lot off of Bayfield Road the accused proceeded to approach the victim holding a snow brush in a threatening manner. The accused also threatened the victim before he took off.

Officers were able to locate the accused shortly thereafter and he was taken into custody without incident.

Joseph TREBISH, 57 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Utter Threats. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Mildmay – YANTHA

(MILDMAY, ON) – On September 20, 2020 at 6:45 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the town of Mildmay. Officers located the vehicle on Absalom Street in Mildmay and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Catlin YANTHA, 33-years-old, of Carrick Township was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 18, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Cocaine Bust – Robert HACKETT

(HURON EAST, ON) – A drug trafficking investigation conducted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) has resulted in a significant seizure for Huron County OPP.

On Saturday, September 19, 2020 at approximately 12:38 p.m. Huron County OPP stopped a sport utility vehicle on Newry Road that was involved in a drug trafficking investigation.

As a result of the ongoing investigation police arrested the driver and took him into custody. A search incident to arrest resulted in police seizing significant quantities of cocaine, cannabis resin (hash) and cannabis resin (oil). Additionally, police seized offence related property that consisted of a sport utility vehicle, a digital scale, cell phone and packaging materials.

The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances is $10,320 and the estimated value of the seized offence related property is over $15,000.

Robert HACKETT, 58 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis for the Purposes of Selling. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision – Name Of Deceased Released

(MUNICIPALITY OF AARAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers and members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team remain on scene of a single motor vehicle fatal crash that took place earlier this evening south of Tara.

At approximately 5:42 p.m. South Bruce OPP, Bruce County Paramedic Services and Tara Fire Department responded to the crash scene located on Bruce County Road #10 south of Concession Road #6.

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged mini-van in the west ditch that had come to rest on its roof. The driver and lone occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been identified as 54-year-old Robert THOMSON of Chatsworth.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Bruce County Road #10 between Concession Road #6 & Concession Road #4 remains closed, with an expected opening time of around midnight.

Collision Near Vanastra – Serious Injuries

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Officers from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment are currently on scene of a crash involving a side-by-side utility vehicle (UTV) that has taken place west of Vanastra.

This evening, just after 7:00 p.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Brucefield Fire Department responded to the crash scene located on Short Horn Road just east of Bannockburn Line.

This investigation is in its early stages but it is believed the driver of the UTV collided with a fertilizer truck that was parked on the side of the road.

The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance and currently remains in hospital with serious injuries.

A section of Short Horn Road east of Bannockburn Line remains closed for the collision investigation.

More Impaired Drivers – VANCUREN, ELLIOTT, STEELE & EVANS

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy removing impaired drivers off the roads over the last few weeks.

On September 03 2020, just after 2:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Ontario Road, Mitchell, in the Municipality of West Perth, as the operator was known to be disqualified from driving. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP detachment for further testing. The results of the breath test were more than twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result, Robert VANCUREN, 60, of West Perth, has been charged with:

On September 04 2020, just after 7:00 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 180, in the Municipality of West Perth, for speeding. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. During a search of the vehicle, a firearm was located in the vehicle.

As a result, Branden ELLIOTT, 20, of West Perth, has been charged with:

Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition in a Careless Manner

On September 06 2020, just after 2:00 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 20, in the Municipality of West Perth, after a traffic complaint reported the vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lane. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to the nearest Breath Technician at the Stratford Police Service for further testing.

As a result, Miechele Dawn Maja STEELE, 33, of Brampton, has been charged with:

On September 07 2020, just after 12:00 a.m., Perth County OPP officers located another impaired driver when they were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checks on Perth Line 20, in the Municipality of West Perth. While speaking with a driver, officers formed the opinion that they had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP detachment for further testing. Cannabis was also located within reach of the driver.

As a result, Peter J EVANS, 66, of Scarborough, has been charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available

In all cases, a seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Passed Out Driver Facing Impaired Driving Charge – Tyler James HOBAN

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A scary situation resulted in charges for two people, but fortunately no one was injured when a driver was found to be impaired by drugs, asleep behind the wheel of a car.

On September 05 2020, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police officer on patrol observed a vehicle stopped in the eastbound lane on Main Street East, in Listowel, Municipality of North Perth. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer located the driver passed out behind the wheel with the engine running, and the vehicle in drive. The officer woke the driver, and while speaking with him, noticed the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug. Further observations of the vehicle resulted in officers locating cocaine and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to a local OPP detachment for further examination. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) conducted a series of tests and the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

As a result, Tyler James HOBAN, 34, of Kitchener, was charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The passenger of the vehicle was also arrested for the drugs in the vehicle, and upon further search, was found to be in possession of purple fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. As a result, Amanda WEAVER, 38, of Kitchener, was charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs

Both accused parties have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Gerald BROUWER – Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On September 17, 2020 at 4:18 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) police officer on patrol along Highway 9 in Carrick Township, observed a vehicle fail to stop at a highway construction zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to have consumed drugs.

Gerald BROUWER, 61-years-old, of Carrick Township was charged with Impaired Driving and Dangerous Driving. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 2, 2020 to answer to the charges.
