Joseph BALASCH – Race Motor Vehicle

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with Performing a Stunt – Racing after he was stopped for speeding this past weekend.

On Sunday, September 27, 2020 at approximately 10:40 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Airport Line when a pickup truck was observed travelling northbound well over the speed limit. A RADAR device was utilized and the speed of the truck was measured at a speed nearly 70 km/h over the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Joseph BALASCH, 22 years of age from London has been charged with Racing. His motor vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence was automatically suspended for seven days. A court date has been set for later this fall.

18 Year Old Charged At RIDE – Francis COOKE

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a novice class driver with numerous charges after a failed roadside breath test.

On Sunday, September 27, 2020 at approximately 2:03 a.m. a pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was located at the intersection of Bluewater Veteran’s Highway and Zurich-Hensall Road. Upon speaking with the young driver police noted he had been drinking some alcohol.

A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both tests were over the legal limit.

Francis COOKE, 18 years of age, from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above Zero, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero, Driver Fail to Surrender License and Person Under 19 years Consuming Liquor. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 19, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Prohibited Driver Arrested – Wilfred VAILLANCOURT

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A driver from Windsor is facing three criminal charges after police received multiple calls about a possible impaired driver yesterday afternoon.

On Sunday, September 26, 2020 at approximately 4:41 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members received multiple calls about the driver of a pickup truck that was towing a trailer and a vehicle in a very erratic manner. Witnesses followed along and at one point when the suspect vehicle came to a stop one of the witnesses spoke with the driver and took away the driver’s keys. However, to no avail the driver was able to get his vehicle going again and continued on his way.

Soon thereafter a Huron OPP officer located and stopped the suspect vehicle in Varna. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noticed the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. As such, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were analyzed by the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit.

Additional investigation revealed the driver was also currently prohibited from driving.

Wilfred VAILLANCOURT, 62 years of age from Windsor has been charged with Operation While Prohibited, Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver In Farmers Field Arrested – Brooke THORNTON

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid Impaired Operation charges against a Howick Township resident following an arrest made this past weekend.

On Friday, September 25, 2020 at approximately 10:48 p.m. Huron OPP members responded to a report of a vehicle that had left Harriston Road east of Bluevale and came to rest in a farmer’s field.

Upon arrival officers spoke with the driver and immediately detected obvious signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were analyzed by the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit.

Brooke THORNTON, 26 years of age from Howick has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 16, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Methamphetamine Bust In Listowel – Ven QUANGVAN & Neisha PERRY

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing drug possession charges after they were found passed out in a vehicle that was still running, in drive, in a parking lot.

The incident occurred on September 09 2020, just before 11:30 a.m., when police were dispatched to a vehicle in a parking lot on Main Street East, in Listowel, Municipality of North Perth. A concerned citizen notified police, since the driver and passenger were passed out in the running vehicle.

When police and Perth County Paramedic Services arrived on scene, the vehicle was found to still be in drive. The two occupants awoke, and were cleared medically. Cannabis was observed in plain view, and upon search of the vehicle upon arrest, methamphetamine was located. The passenger was also found to be in possession of identity documents belonging to someone else.

As a result, Ven QUANGVAN, 57, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The passenger, Neisha PERRY, 28, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of an Identity Document

The accused parties have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

Church Fires End With Arson Charge

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On September 28, 2020 at 1:31 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a structure fire, Wesley United Church at Highway 21 on Saugeen First Nation. Two other structure fires at two additional churches were also reported to OPP, The Church of Jesus Christ and Saugeen Fellowship Baptist Church.

Saugeen Fist Nation Fire Department was assisted by Saugeen Shores Fire Department, from both Southampton and Port Elgin Stations.

A few hours later, OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team members located and arrested a suspect in a wooded area on Saugeen First Nation.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged 49 year old, Emric THOMPSON from Saugeen First Nation with Arson – Damage to Property, section 434 Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Mischief Over $5,000, section 430(3) CC.

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice.

Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit and Ontario Fire Marshall, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fires.

Two Arrested After K9 Locates Them – Anthony DILLON & Lindsay COURTNEY

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – A lengthy canine search south of Zurich for suspects that fled out of a stolen vehicle last week has led to criminal charges against a pair.

Shortly before 8:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer attempted to stop a compact vehicle near Zurich after receiving a traffic complaint about an aggressive driver on London Road. Upon locating the vehicle the driver failed to stop and immediately fled from police. Shortly thereafter, police located the suspect vehicle abandoned on a private drive off of Goshen Line.

Huron County OPP, Lambton County OPP, West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine responded to the scene and searched for the suspects.

Two suspects were ultimately located and taken into custody.

Anthony DILLON, 35 years of age from Lucknow has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Taken Without Consent

Flight from Peace Officer

Dangerous Operation

Operation While Prohibited

Obstruct Peace Officer

Resist Peace Officer

Fail to Comply With Probation Order

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Also charged is Lindsay COURTNEY, 40 years of age from Central Huron. She has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Taken without Consent and Obstruct Peace Officer. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 19, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On September 24, 2020, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Trafalgar Road North (Wellington Road 24) and Sideroad 10 in the Town of Erin. It was reported that a boom lift and a passenger vehicle had collided.

Emergency Service responded. The driver of the passenger vehicle, was pronounced dead at scene. The operator of the boom did not require medical care.

The deceased has been identified as Lloyd COCKBURN, 59-years-old of Georgetown.

Update: Terri HARNOCK Located

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have found a missing resident of Blyth.

OPP were concerned for the welfare of the individual after locating a heavily-damaged vehicle on Walton Road, near Martin Line, on September 24, 2020.

The owner of the vehicle, 50-year-old Terri HARNOCK of Blythe, has been located in good health.

$20,000 UTV Stolen

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On September 23, 2020 at 2:30 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV), also known as a side-by-side, from a property in the 1400 block of Highway 9 in Carrick Township. Last seen on July 28, 2020 is a Red and Black Mahindra Retriever 1000 UTV. There is no license plate, but the serial number is on file with police. The estimated value of the stolen UTV is $20,000.

BOLO Stolen SUV Plate: BNBB 926

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On September 23, 2020 at 2:51 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle theft from a residence along Bruce County Road 15 in Greenock Township. Taken at 2:50 p.m. on September 23, 2020 is a Black Mercedes ML350 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with license plate BNBB 926. The SUV uses diesel fuel and the serial number is on file with police.

Criminal Targets Roads Side Stands In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) – On September 20, 2020 at 9:29 a.m., officers from the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an attempted theft from a vegetable stand on Grey Road 12, in the Municipality of Meaford. The same stand had their money box stolen in July.

There have been other similar occurrences reported to police, from other stands in the Meaford area, over the summer months. The thefts are occurring at night.

Grey Bruce OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) involved.

Sexual Assault On Child – David RATCLIFFE

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – A recent criminal investigation conducted by Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) uniform members and Crime Unit has resulted in sexual assault and another sex-related offence being laid against a Wellington North Township resident.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in July, 2020 involving a teen-aged victim.

Wellington County OPP has charged David RATCLIFFE, 59-years-old of Wellington North Township with Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age and Sexual Interference contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a future date to answer to the charges.

Blyth Resident Terri HARNOCK Being Sought By Police

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial (OPP) officers are seeking assistance from the public in locating a resident of Blyth.

Police are concerned for the safety and well-being of 50-year-old Terri HARNOCK of Blyth after her vehicle was found unoccupied this afternoon in a heavily damaged condition east of Blyth.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to the crash scene located on Walton Road near Martin Line. Given the condition of the vehicle there is a possibility occupants may have sustained serious injuries in this crash.

Police believe the crash happened this morning between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Terri is described as a Caucasian, 5’1 tall

Fatal Collision
