Brandon REED – Drugs & Weed @ RIDE

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 10, 2020 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Wellington Road 124 at Jones Baseline in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. the driver of a grey pick-up truck entered the R.I.D.E. check. While speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of cannabis coming from within the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that that the driver was in possession of over 200 grams of cannabis and a quantity of hydromorphine pills.

As a result of the investigation, Brandon REED, 28-years-old of Gravenhurst has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Hydromorphine) contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Possession of over 30 grams of Cannabis contrary to the Cannabis Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 13, 2020.

Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone that no person shall drive or have the care or control of a vehicle or boat, whether or not it is in motion, while any cannabis is contained in the vehicle or boat. With the exception being that it’s in its original packaging and has not been opened or is packed in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to any person in the vehicle or boat. Lyle Patrick OLIVER – 135 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 6, 2020, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Sideroad 5 north of Fergus. The officer observed a white sedan travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Lyle Patrick OLIVER, 46-year-old resident of Guelph, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on January 6, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Fatal Collision Update – Second Child Succumbs To Injuries

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On October 11, 2020 at 8:44 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and horse and buggy along Bruce County Road 10 in Brant Township. Officers responded to the scene with members of the Elmwood Fire Department and Bruce County paramedics.

Melena JANTZI, 10-years-old, of West Grey Township was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Brodie JANTZI, 9-years-old, of West Grey Township was air lifted to a London hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Bruce County Road 10 was closed for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.

10 Year Old Killed In Collision Involving Buggy – 9 Year Old Airlifted To Hospital

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On October 11, 2020 at 8:44 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and horse and buggy along Bruce County Road 10 in Brant Township. Officers responded to the scene with members of the Elmwood Fire Department and Bruce County paramedics.

A 10-year-old passenger in the buggy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 9-year-old passenger in the buggy was air lifted to a London hospital with life threatening injuries.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit are attending the assist the South Bruce OPP with this incident.

Bruce County Road 10 has been closed between Concession 8 and Concession 10 for the protection of emergency responders.

Tobias Alexander NISBET – Drive While Suspended, Drinking & Driving, etc.

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On October 6, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a motorcycle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Main Street near Wellington Street in the Town of Mount Forest.

It was reported that the driver did not have a licence plate attached to the motorcycle.

Police spoke with the driver and detected an odour of alcohol on their breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which confirmed the driver had consumed alcohol.

Police also discovered that the motorcyclist was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code of Canada and had their licence suspended under the Highway Traffic Act.

As a result of the investigation, Tobias Alexander NISBET, 33-years-old of Durham, faces the following charges:

Drive while Under Suspension

Novice Driver-Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero

Operating a Vehicle Without Plate

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 13, 2020. Their vehicle was seized for a period of 45 days as per statute.

Daniel Gebrat MEHARY – 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 7, 2020, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Eighth Line in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer observed a grey SUV travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

32 Foot Trailer Stolen – Plate: N8997V

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 1, 2020 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from the storage area at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Investigation revealed that sometime between September 27, 2020 and October 1, 2020, unknown suspects entered the property and stole a camping trailer.

The trailer is described as a white 2011 32-foot sleep-in camping trailer bearing Ontario plate N8997V.

Alyssa MARTIN – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 2, 2020 at approximately 11:15 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle stopped in the area of First Line and Gilkinson Street in Centre Wellington Township.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Alyssa MARTIN, 21-years-old of Elora has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on October 30, 2020 to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

Trailer Stolen

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 2, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a storage area at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area.

Investigation revealed that sometime between August 13, 2020 and October 2, 2020, unknown suspects entered the property and stole a camping trailer.

The trailer is described as a beige 2014 28-foot Gulf Stream camping trailer bearing Ontario plate N2741S. It has KING SPORTS” logo on the sides.

Jason COLLEY – Drive While Suspended, No Insurance, Refuse To Blow

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing charges after he was stopped by police last week in South Huron.

On October 1, 2020 at approximately 11:45 a.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the accused driving a compact vehicle on Sunshine Line near Park Road. A traffic stop was initiated and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the odour of alcohol on the driver.

A roadside screening device demand was given to the driver however after several unsuccessful attempts the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Sebringville Detachment for processing.

The driver, Jason COLLEY, 42 years of age from Goderich remains in custody with the following charges: Failure or Refuse to Comply with Demand, Driving While Under Suspension and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 9, 2020.

Philip WALSH – Breach, Drugs, etc.

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Woodstock resident remains in custody in connection with a traffic stop that occurred early this morning in Crediton.

Early this morning Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were patrolling initially in Exeter when they observed a motor vehicle parked on the Main Street with unauthorized licence plates on the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter the suspect vehicle was located in Crediton on King Street. Police spoke with the driver and he was placed under arrest for Using Unauthorized Licence Plates and for Driving While under Suspension. A search incident to arrest was conducted and the accused was found to be in possession of a small quantity of suspected Fentanyl.

Subsequent checks revealed the accused was failing to comply with a condition of a court release order, as well, the attached licence plates were found to be stolen from London.

Philip WALSH, 39 years of age from Woodstock has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl

Fail to Comply with Release Order

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle

Drive While Under Suspension.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Criminal(s) Get Two Free Long Guns

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On October 2, 2020 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a break and enter at an address on Fifth Line in the Town of Erin.

Sometime between September 23, 2020 and October 2, 2020, unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the home by breaking a window. Suspect(s) stole two long guns, as well as ammunition, a set of Franklin Mint knives, silver coins, and cigarettes. The suspect(s) also broke into a shed on the property and stole a chainsaw.

Vehicle Stolen From Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the overnight theft of a Dodge Journey sport utility vehicle from Clinton.

Just before 10:00 a.m. this morning, Huron County OPP officers received information about a stolen vehicle that was taken from a Clinton property overnight.

The victim reported the vehicle was taken from an Albert Street apartment complex parking lot sometime between 10:00 p.m. on October 6th and 9:00 a.m. this morning.

The stolen vehicle is described as a dark blue, 4-door, 2014 Dodge Journey.

Bonnie DONALDSON – Drunk Driving

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident will have to attend court later this fall to face Impaired Driving charges after an arrest made by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week.

On Friday, October 2, 2020 at approximately 4:23 p.m. Huron OPP received information about a possible impaired driver that may be travelling in the area. An officer responded to the area and shortly thereafter the investigating officer spotted the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Elizabeth Street. The officer followed the vehicle a short distance and a traffic stop was initiated on Blake Street West.

While speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Clinton OPP Detachment for breath tests.

The driver supplied two samples of her breath to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Bonnie DONALDSON, 69 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. She was released from custody and now has a court appearance scheduled for December 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Pervert Alert Near School – Vehicle Description Released

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to speak with the driver or drivers of vehicles observed near an elementary school lately.

On October 2, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Perth County OPP were contacted to investigate a suspicious vehicle lingering near North Easthope Public School on Perth Road 108, in the Township of Perth East, while students were participating in an outdoor class. The vehicle left the scene prior to police arrival.

A second incident occurred on October 5, 2020, just after 11:40 a.m., when a similar vehicle was observed again parked near the school.

The most recent incident occurred on October 6, 2020, after 1:15 p.m. when students observed a vehicle drive by the school at a very slow rate of speed with the window down.

In each incident, the vehicle is described as a silver or beige four-door sedan. One driver was described as female, wearing a red baseball hat. The other individual is male. At no time did the drivers attempt to make contact with any student or staff.

Perth County OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the drivers and vehicle involved in this ongoing investigation.
