21 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 11, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Eighth Line in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer observed a gold sedan travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Steven DENINE, 21-year-old resident of Burlington, has been charged with Stunt Driving and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on January 6, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Tractor Stolen

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate the theft of a Massey Ferguson farm tractor that was stolen from a farm near Hensall this week.

Sometime between October 11th and October 14th a thief attended the Airport Line property and stole the farm tractor without being detected.

The stolen tractor is described as a red, 1973 Massey Ferguson model MF 175 valued at approximately $5,000.

The stolen tractor looks very similar to the one in the attached photo.

Repeat Offender BAILEY Arrested Again

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against two Huron County residents after they were caught shoplifting in Wingham yesterday.

At approximately 12:39 p.m. on October 14, 2020 Huron OPP officers were dispatched to attend a pharmacy located on Josephine Street to investigate a complaint of shoplifting.

Officers arrived on scene and upon reviewing the store video surveillance footage officers formed grounds to arrest the pair for shoplifting articles from the store. It didn’t take officers long to locate the pair as they were standing across the street from the pharmacy.

Both suspects were arrested and it turned out that they were both on court conditions of release to not be around each other. Furthermore, one of the accused had outstanding warrants from other police services.

Christopher KURTH, 35 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with a Release Order and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Angela BAILEY, 39 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Disobeying Court Order.

She was released on Huron County OPP’s charges with a court date for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Flagged Down Officer Now Facing Several Charges

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid a handful of criminal charges against a young driver from Central Huron following an incident that took place in Goderich earlier this week.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on October 14, 2020 a Huron OPP officer was on Cameron Street when a driver got out of her vehicle and flagged down the officer looking for directions. While speaking with the driver the investigating officer had reason to believe the driver had been drinking alcohol so a demand for a roadside sample was given to the driver.

The driver ultimately refused to provide a roadside sample and as soon as the officer attempted to arrest the driver she resisted arrest and tried unsuccessfully to escape custody. The driver was transported back to the Clinton Detachment for processing where she continued to be uncooperative with officers. At one point the driver assaulted one of the officers, as well she attempted to disarm the officer of his conducted energy weapon.

A check on the accused also revealed she was failing to comply with a condition of her undertaking as she had consumed some alcohol.

Chelsea HOGGART, 21 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation, Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, Assault a Peace Officer, Disarming a Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

She has since been released custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Ryan SANDERSON – Drunk Driving

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Howick Township resident with Impaired Operation and Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus following an All-Terrain Vehicle crash that happened this August.

On August 13, 2020 at approximately 8:38 p.m. Huron County OPP and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to an ATV rollover collision located on Church Street in Wroxeter.

The driver of the ATV was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital and was later released with non-life threatening injuries. The subsequent collision investigation revealed the driver had been drinking alcohol prior to the collision and was impaired. The results of a blood analysis also revealed the driver had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Ryan SANDERSON, 37 years of age from Howick has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). He has a court date scheduled for November 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Criminals Ram Homeowners Vehicle

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 14, 2020 at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted theft at a residence on Woolwich-Guelph Townline in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The homeowner noticed two suspicious vehicles on the property at approximately 4:30 a.m. It was reported that one of the suspects was attempting to enter a parked vehicle in the driveway.

The suspects fled in the two vehicles after being confronted by the homeowner. One of the vehicles, a black HONDA CRV, rammed the homeowner’s vehicle several times before they were able to flee the area.

Suspect Vehicle #1- 2012 black HONDA CRV Ontario plates BZBA849. It may have damage to the front passenger side. It was operated by a female suspect and a male suspect passenger.

Suspect Vehicle #2-2015 silver Mazda CX5 Ontario plates BWXB939. It was operated by a female suspect.

Both vehicles were reported stolen on the same date.

Police Offer Tips To Protect Your Weed After Plants Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating the recent overnight theft of some cannabis plants stolen from a residence in Exeter.

Sometime between 10:00 p.m. on October 7, 2020 and 7:00 a.m. on October 8, 2020 a thief entered onto the property of a residence located on Victoria Street East and stole three mature cannabis plants.

As with anything that holds value it is recommended property owners take steps to protect their property. Here are some tips and suggestions to keep your plants safe and secure.

Keep vigilant and report to police immediately any suspicious people or activity in your neighbourhood.

Deter potential criminals by ensuring outside lights work and by installing motion sensor lights.

Ensure gates are shut and locked at all times.

Trees and shrubs can create hiding spots for criminals. Keep your landscaping groomed and limit privacy fencing.

Consider installing surveillance cameras that monitor vulnerable areas of your property.

Avoid posting pictures of your plants on social media. Advertising the fact you have plants growing on your property may lead to theft.

If you have the ability to grow your plants in a secure area it would be wise to do so.

If you happen to catch a thief on your property stealing your cannabis plants or anything for that matter, please don’t confront the person. Call police right away and provide the best description of the suspect as possible.

Sunday SALTER Arrested For Break, Enter & Theft

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Wingham resident with several criminal charges after he was caught this weekend breaking into a shed and a home.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to a possible break, enter and theft in progress on Jamestown Road. Upon arrival police located one of the two suspects still on scene. He was initially detained and once investigators checked on the property it became apparent he had broken into a home and a shed on the property. Further, it was also noticed the accused had caused damage to some of the shed windows.

Additionally, a search incident to arrest found the accused in possession of a stolen lawn tractor key, along with a leather punch set.

Sunday SALTER, 28 years of age from Wingham has been charged with: Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence (2) counts, Mischief Under and Theft Under $5,000 (2) counts.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Charged Again – Adam Ronald HERMANIS

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 12, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer followed a motorcycle to an address in the area of Sideroad 9 and Wellington Road 26 in Belwood.

It was reported that the driver did not have a licence plate visible on the motorcycle.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that they failed to comply with conditions of a previous Court release order.

Police also discovered that the motorcyclist was not properly licenced under the Highway Traffic Act.

As a result of the investigation, Adam Ronald HERMANIS, 31-years-old of the Township of Centre Wellington, faces the following charges:

Fail to Comply with Release Order

Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

Operate Unsafe Vehicle

Operating a Vehicle Plate Not Properly Displayed

Use Plate Not Authorized For Vehicle

Drive Motor Vehicle-Improper Licence

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on October 13, 2020.

Seaforth Break and Enter

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a break, enter and theft that took place at a Seaforth business earlier this month.

Sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 3:55 a.m. on October 3, 2020 the suspect defeated an exterior window and made entry into the Goderich Street East business. Once inside the building the thief stole an undisclosed amount of money from cash register floats.

The thief is described as a male with a smaller build, wearing a dark coloured hoody, dark pants and grey and black gloves.

BMW Stolen””

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a recent theft of a BMW sedan that was stolen this past weekend near Wroxeter.

Sometime between 8:00 p.m. on October 10 and 9:00 a.m. on October 11, 2020 those responsible for the theft attended a Gough Road residence and located the vehicle parked in the laneway. Unfortunately, the vehicle was left unlocked and the ignition key was in the vehicle.

The thief departed in the vehicle without being detected.

The stolen vehicle is described as a white, 2011 BMW 28x four-door sedan with painted black rims. The vehicle is valued at approximately $10,000.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

Between October 9th and October 11th, 2020, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four motorists with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA) in Grey and Bruce Counties.

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 12:35 a.m., on Highway 10, near Markdale, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, a 17 year old driver, was travelling over 125 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a (beige) car in this posted 70 km/h zone.

(MEAFORD, ON) – On Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 10:23 a.m. on Highway 26, near Woodford Crescent, in the Municipality of Meaford, Ayush RAI, 25 years-of-age, of Owen Sound, ON was travelling over 135 km/h in a (brown) car in this posted 80km/h zone.

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On October 10th, 2020 at 3:10 p.m. on Highway 6, near Lawrence Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, Y.K. HO, 58 years-of-age, of Richmond Hill, ON was travelling over 135 km/h in a (black) car in this posted 80 km/h zone.

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On October 11th, 2020 at 2:08 p.m. on Highway 10, near Holland Centre, in the Municipality of Chatsworth, Navpreet SINGH, 23, of Brampton, ON was travelling over 130 km/h in a (black) car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued Provincial Summons for court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The Grey Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that excessive speed is one of the leading causes of deaths on our highways.

23 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On October 10, 2020, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Parkway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a black sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Meet Sadhsharan BHAVSAR, 23-years-old of Scarborough, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on January 6, 2021. The defendant’s vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Tara INGRAM – Impaired Driving, Refuse To Blow

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A resident of Bluewater will have to answer to an Impaired Driving charge later this fall following an arrest made by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week.

On Thursday, October 8, 2020 at approximately 4:34 p.m. Huron County OPP received a call from a concerned citizen about a vehicle that was travelling northbound into Exeter in an erratic manner.

An OPP officer responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle parked at a business located on London Road. Police spoke with the driver and while doing so they noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.

Accordingly, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Clinton OPP Detachment for breath tests. Upon arrival at the detachment the driver ultimately failed to provide breath samples to the Intoxilizer Technician.

Tara INGRAM, 40 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand. The accused has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

18 Year Old Caught Going 130 in a 60 – NIXON

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 10, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 18 west of Fergus.

The officer observed a silver sedan travelling eastbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 60 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

As a result, Simon James NIXON, 18-year-old resident of Fergus, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle and Driving Left of Centre on a Curve contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on January 6, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
