Impaired Driver Facing Numerous Charges – Christopher MILLETT

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On October 21, 2020 at 12:17 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle occurrence on a rural property at Concession 2, in the Township of Chatsworth.

A (black) car was observed driving on the trails at this property. Police patrolled the area and located a driver sleeping behind the wheel of this motor vehicle. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. They were transported to the Huronia West OPP detachment. A Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation with this driver.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Christopher MILLETT, 32 years-of-age from Collingwood, ON with the following offences:

Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine, section 4(1) CDSA

Five counts of failing to comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC

Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000., section 354(1)(a) CC

The involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 22, 2020.

Methamphetamine Bust – Kyle LENSSEN

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An arrest by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment has put a dent in the local supply of Fentanyl.

On October 8, 2020 at approximately 9:36 p.m. Huron OPP officers were engaged in community patrols in Exeter when they came noticed a man acting suspiciously on Victoria Street West. The officer attempted to speak with the individual however he immediately took off running through several residential backyards on William Street. After a short chase police located and took the suspect into custody.

A search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $14,790. Additionally, the accused was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

Kyle LENSSEN, 33 years of age from West Perth has been charged with Trespassing at Night, Fail to Comply With Release Order (2 counts), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and Resist Peace Officer.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Caught With Methamphetamine – Anthony DILLON

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – A resident of Lucknow is facing several criminal charges following an investigation by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at approximately 10:38 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was in the Town of Wingham when he observed a sport utility vehicle that matched the description of a stolen GMC Yukon.

The officer was able to confirm the vehicle was stolen however the driver took off and fled from the officer. The officer did not pursue the stolen vehicle however following some investigation police were able to identify the involved driver and he was located later that afternoon in the Town of Goderich.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. officers arrested the suspect on East Street in the Town of Goderich for possession of the stolen vehicle. Upon arrest officers searched the accused and found him to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. The stolen sport utility vehicle was recovered in close vicinity to the accused.

Anthony DILLON, 35 years of age from Lucknow has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Theft Under $5,000

Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 3 Counts

Fail to Comply with Release Order – Other than to Attend Court

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich

Drug Bust – BEATTIE & STANLEY

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A call to police from an employee working a drive-thru helped police remove an impaired driver from the roads as well it resulted in police taking some drugs off the street.

On Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a restaurant located on Main Street North in Exeter to investigate a possible impaired driver that was just served in the drive-thru.

Minutes later officers arrived on scene and located the suspect vehicle parked at the restaurant. The investigating officer spoke with the car driver and upon doing so he became suspicious the driver was possibly impaired by a drug. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted at the scene. The driver performed poorly and was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation.

The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he later performed tests conducted by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) and it was deemed by the DRE the driver was impaired by a drug.

A search incident to arrest of the motor vehicle resulted in police locating a quantity of cannabis well over the legal limit as well as some suspected Fentanyl. In addition, while police were attempting to identify the passenger of the vehicle she took off running from the officer and attempted to flee. The alert officer gave chase and was able to take her into custody.

The driver, Justin BEATTIE, 39 years of age from South Huron was charged with Impaired Operation, Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl and Possession for the Purposes of Distributing Cannabis under the Cannabis Act. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

The passenger, Dayna STANLEY, 27 years of age from Kingsville has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl, Possession for the Purposes of Distributing Cannabis under the Cannabis Act, Obstruct Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Release Order. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Suspended Driver Caught Again – GAMMIE

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On October 20, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a pick-up truck for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Indian Trail north of Eden Mills.

It was reported that the driver had two different licence plates attached to the truck.

Police also discovered that the driver was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code of Canada and had their licence suspended under the Highway Traffic Act.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle Collin GAMMIE, 35-years-old of Guelph, faces the following charges:

Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code

Drive while Under Suspension

Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle (2 counts)

Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 24, 2020. Their vehicle was seized for a period of 45 days as per statute.

Trailer Stolen From Blyth

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently investigating the theft of a trailer that was stolen from a property in Blyth this past weekend.

The trailer had been parked beside a shed near the rail trail in Blyth. The trailer was taken sometime between 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 18th and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October, 20th.

The trailer is described as a red, homemade, 20 foot long, dual axle flatbed trailer with 1 foot high metal sides.

Drunk Driver Hit Hydro Pole – SOCHOLOTIUK

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 24-year-old from Lucan-Biddulph Township with Impaired Operation and Operation 80 Plus following a crash with a hydro pole this past weekend.

At approximately 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 Lambton County OPP, Huron County OPP and Middlesex County Paramedic Services responded to the single vehicle collision located on Shipka Line.

Upon arrival officers located a demolished sedan that had left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The driver was able to escape the crash uninjured however upon speaking with the driver officers noted he had been drinking alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. As a result, police arrested the driver for Impaired Operation and transported him from the scene to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Shawn SOCHOLOTIUK, 24 years of age from Lucan-Biddulph Township has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

The costs to repair the damaged hydro pole is estimated at $8,000.

130 in an 80 – TYRRELL

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 19, 2020 at approximately 6:30 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 at Sideroad 10 north of Fergus. The officer observed a grey passenger vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

As a result, Stacey Mae TYRRELL, 37-year-old resident of Fergus, has been charged with Stunt Driving-Excessive Speed and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on March 17, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Adrian BRAKEL – Drunk Driving

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On October 12, 2020 at 10:29 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a (white) pick-up truck on Grey Road 119, near Grey Road 13, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

While Officers were speaking with the driver, the driver showed signs of impairment and failed the approved roadside screening device test. The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and was transported to Meaford OPP detachment for a breath test. The results of the breath test were over the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Adrian BRAKEL, 52 years-of-age, of Meaford, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and the involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused has been released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 19, 2020.

Pickup Truck Stolen – Plate: 241 2FT

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On October 17, 2020 at 5:48 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence along Side road 25 north in Brant Township. The call to police was made as the vehicle was being driven away. Officers are looking for a Black Chevrolet Silverado True North Edition with license # 241 2FT. The value of the stolen vehicle is estimated to be $30,000 and the serial number is on file with police.

Attempted Murder In Fergus

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On October 17, 2020 at approximately 7:40 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on Highland Road in Fergus, Township of Centre Wellington.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 59-year-old female resident of the home, who appeared to be suffering from serious injuries. The individual was subsequently transported to a local hospital by Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and has since been released.

The victim and accused were known to each other.

A 27-year-old Centre Wellington Township resident has been charged with Attempted Murder.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody.

Shooting In Parking Lot – 17 Year Old Repeat Offender Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged following an altercation that resulted in one person being shot with an air pistol BB gun.

On October 10, 2020, just after 10:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called a residence on Davidson Avenue North, in the Municipality of North Perth after it was reported that someone had been shot with a pellet gun in the parking lot.

One person, a 24-year-old Stratford resident, received minor injuries.

As a result, a 17-year-old resident of North Perth has been charged with:

Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Assault with a Weapon

Fail to Comply with Sentence

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Hit & Run – Two Arrested

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On October 19, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 at Wellington Road 125 in the Town of Erin.

It was reported that an eastbound black sports car collided with a southbound vehicle in the intersection. The two occupants of the sports car fled on foot from the scene however, they were quickly located by responding officers.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Further investigation revealed that the passenger was breaching a condition of a court order.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on November 24, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Drug Bust – MCWATCH, MCWATCH & SCHEUERMAN

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On October 18, 2020, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle occurrence on Berford Street in Wiarton, ON, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Police were advised that people were yelling at pedestrians from a (silver) car as they drove around the Town of Wiarton. Police patrolled the area and located the involved vehicle and spoke to the occupants.

During the investigation, all of the occupants inside the vehicle were arrested for several criminal offences.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged D’Angelo MCWATCH, 23 years-of-age from Owen Sound, ON with the following offences:

Unauthorized possession of a weapon, section 91(2) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Two counts of failure to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CC

Possession of break in instruments, section 351(1) CC

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

Two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance – other drugs, section 4(1) CDSA

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 19, 2020.

Grey Bruce OPP have also charged Richard MCWATCH, 42 years-of-age, from Owen Sound, ON with the following offences:

Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon, section 94 CC

Possession of break in instruments, section 351(1) CC

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) CDSA

Two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance – other drugs, section 4(1) CDSA

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 3, 2020.

Grey Bruce OPP have also charged Barbara SCHEUERMAN, 45 years-of-age, from Owen Sound, ON with the following offences:

Pervert Alert – Sexual Assault – Patricia ADAMSON

(CALEDON, ON) – Members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Caledon Detachment – Crime Unit arrested and charged an individual in relation to a sexual assault investigation in the Town of Caledon.

On September 22, 2020, police received information regarding an allegation of a sexual assault of a student by a former school supervisor. The sexual assault was reported to have taken place in 2019, while the accused was a school supervisor at the Jehovah Jireh Christian School in Caledon.

As a result of the police investigation, Patricia ADAMSON, 78, of Orangeville, has been charged with:

Sexual interference – five counts;

Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age – five counts; and

Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age – five counts.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on a later date to answer to the charges.
