(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On July 26^th, 2024 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program along Highway 591 near Island Lake Road, outside the City of Thunder Bay.

Through the R.I.D.E. program, it was determined that one of the driver’s had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Lori CHABOYER, 63-years-old, of Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
• Operation while impaired – Alcohol and drugs;
• Dangerous operation;
• Novice driver – B.A.C. (Blood Alcohol Concentration) above zero;
• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 4^th, 2024.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A R.I.D.E program in the City of Thunder Bay has led to impaired charges being laid.

On July 4, 2024, shortly before 1:30 a.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E program on Huron Avenue. A vehicle entered the program, and an alcohol screening device was administered.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Darren ERICKSON, 54-years-old, of Thunder Bay has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 21, 2024.

Drivers are reminded that the Mandatory Alcohol Screening law allows police with an approved alcohol screening device to demand a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver without having reasonable suspicion that a driver is alcohol impaired.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On June 19^th, 2024 at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service regarding a motor vehicle collision along Highway 61, within the City of Thunder Bay.

Through the investigation, it was determined that one of the drivers involved in the motor vehicle collision had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Amy ROSE, 43, of Edmonton, Alberta, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
• Dangerous Operation;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 31^st, 2024.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – One individual has been arrested and charged with impaired operation following a motor vehicle collision in the City of Thunder Bay.  

On June 15, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 61 in the City of Thunder Bay.

Through investigation, it was determined that one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to local hospital by EMS for further testing.

As a result, Navraj THIND, 47-years-old, of Thunder Bay has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 24, 2024.

No serious injuries were reported to police as a result of the collision.

On May 9, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E program on Highway 11/17 in the City of Thunder Bay. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E program and an alcohol screening device was administered.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Cassidy CORNESS, 29-years-old, of Thunder Bay has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 19, 2024.

Through the investigation, it was determined that one of the drivers involved in the motor vehicle collision had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Michael OLSEN, 36, of Kenora was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 12^th, 2024.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On April 7^th, 2024 at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary radar along Highway 11-17 near Balsam Street & conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding.

Through the investigation, it was determined the driver of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Hayden LEBLANC, 30, of Thunder Bay was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on May 14th, 2024.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A R.I.D.E program in the City of Thunder Bay has led to one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On March 24, 2024, shortly after 1:00 a.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E program on Balsam Street in the City of Thunder Bay. A motor vehicle approached and drove through the R.I.D.E program without stopping.

Officers were able to later stop the motor vehicle.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jared MAJOR, 25-years-old, of Thunder Bay, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on May 3, 2024.
