Kiza Silve Was Arrested

(THE NATION, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a motorist for impaired driving.

On Tuesday, October 7, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers observed a vehicle speeding on Highway 417 in The Nation township. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, and the driver refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old, Kiza Silve, of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC), with: 

• Operation while impaired – alcohol CC

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand CC

• Mischief -obstruct, interrupts or interferes with lawful operation of property CC

• Obstruct peace officer CC

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Passenger Charged In Drunk Driving Stop

(THE NATION & CLARENCE-ROCKLAND, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two motorists for impaired driving and a passenger for obstructing police during one of the traffic stops.

On Saturday, October 4, at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers observed a vehicle speeding on Highway 417 in The Nation township. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, and the driver failed. Subsequently, an open container of alcohol was observed in the vehicle and the driver was in possession of a substance believed to be cocaine. The driver was transported to detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old, Mohamed Altashani, of Montreal, Quebec, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC), Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), The Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and The Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA) with: 

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC

• Operation while impaired – alcohol CC

• Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Cocaine (CDSA)

• Speeding (HTA)

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available (LLCA)

• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (LLCA)

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

On, Sunday, October 5, 2025, shortly after 2:55 a.m., officers in Clarence-Rockland initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop for a red light. During the investigation the driver refused to provide a breath sample and the passenger, although warned repeatedly, continued to interfere with the police investigation. 

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old, Carine Kubwimana, of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and The Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with: 

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand (CC)

• Red light – fail to stop (HTA)

• Obstruct plate (HTA)

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The passenger, 46-year-old, Jimmy Kijigo, of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

• Obstruct Peace Officer (CC)

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Another Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(THE NATION, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Route 900 East outside of St-Albert, which led to the temporary closure of the road in both directions between Route 800 East and County Road 27 in The Nation Municipality. The road has since reopened.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., members of the Russell County Detachment of the OPP responded to a serious collision involving a car and a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, a 29-year-old male from The Nation Municipality was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist attended, alongside emergency crews. The investigation remains ongoing.

One Dead Following Fire & Failed Rescue Attempt

(THE NATION TWP, ON) – An individual has been located deceased after a structure fire in The Nation Township.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 p.m., officers with the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Nation Township Fire Department responded to a fully involved structure fire on Concession Road 20. First responders learned that one tenant of the building was unaccounted for. Another tenant attempted to rescue the individual but was forced out by smoke and flames.

On Monday, July 28, 2025, human remains were located inside the heavily damaged residence. The deceased is believed to be the missing tenant, a 57-year-old-woman/

The fire is not believed to be suspicious but remains under investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit and Office of the Fire Marshal, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Tracey Trenholme Was Arrested – Details Released

(THE NATION, ON) – Members of the Russell County OPP Detachment (OPP) have arrested an individual after an assault investigation leading to numerous charges and the seizure of a vehicle

On February 25, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members of the Russell County OPP responded to a report of an aggressive individual at a business in Limoges. Upon arrival on scene, it was determined that the individual had attempted to punch the employee before leaving the scene in a vehicle.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., officers completed a traffic stop on a vehicle, matching the description and licence plate number provided by the complainant. The driver was arrested and subsequent investigation revealed he was a prohibited driver. Due to his driving prohibition, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. 

As a result, Tracey Trenholme, of St. Catharines, Ontario was charged with the following under the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA):

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code – 5 Counts
  • Driving while under suspension (HTA) – 3 Counts
  • Assault (CC)- 1 Count

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later released and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on April 2, 2025.

Taylor Tims – Drunk Driving

(THE NATION, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a motorist for stunt driving and a second motorist for stunt driving and operation while impaired.

On October 07, 2024, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers on Highway 417 in The Nation were conducting LIDAR enforcement when they observed a vehicle travelling 173km/h in a 110km/h zone. The vehicle was passed by a second car travelling 184km/h. Both vehicles were stopped for stunt driving. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used on the driver who was travelling at 184km/h. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Taylor Tims, from Russell Township, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC
  • Stunt Driving HTA

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their car was impounded for 14 days. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on November 6.

The second driver, a 30-year-old, from Barrie, Ontario, was charged under the HTA with:

  • Stunt Driving HTA

The second accused had their licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in L’Orignal on December 5.
