Another Armed Home Invasion

(SHARBOT LAKE, ON) – An investigation is continuing into a home invasion which happened in Sharbot Lake.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers with the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home on Gordon Crescent.

It was reported that two people, a man and woman, had entered the home, armed with weapons including a knife. There were no injuries.

The robbers had fled the area by the time police arrived, taking multiple items including a Sony PlayStation, musical instruments and cash. They left the scene in what was only described as a loud, silver or grey four-door car, which was last seen heading north on Gordon Crescent.

The male is described as approximately 5’9″ (175 cm), with a thin build and short brown hair and was unshaven with a short beard. The female is described as approximately 5’4″ (163 cm) and thin, with dark-brown or red hair.

Police believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no threat to public safety.

Amanda Whalen Was Arrested

(Sharbot Lake, ON) – An officer from the Frontenac OPP was conducting speed limit enforcement patrols and located a vehicle driver speeding along the highway. After the vehicle was stopped, it was determined that the driver was impaired.

An officer was patrolling the area of Highway 7 in Sharbot Lake on April 18, 2025. Just after 9:30 pm a vehicle was located traveling at a high rate of speed near Zealand Road. When the driver was stopped, standardized field sobriety testing was used, and determined that there was alcohol and drug use that caused an impairment. A search of the vehicle, after the arrest, located a quantity of cannabis.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Lanark OPP detachment for further testing with a drug recognition expert.

Amanda Whalen, 35 years old from Perth was charged with:

  • operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.
  • operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
  • have care or control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available (CCA).
  • speeding 1 – 49 kms over the posted speed limit (HTA).

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston, on May 27, 2025. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

The OPP would like to remind people that Impaired Driving is a serious threat to public safety. Highway safety is a team sport, do your part and plan a safe ride home.

Benjamin Foster Was Arrested

(Sharbot Lake, ON) – A individual, wanted on several warrants from different police agencies, was arrested after being located operating a vehicle in Central Frontenac Township.

On September 10,2024, just after 9:00 am, members of the Bail Support Unit (OPP) assisted by the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (OPP), and the Emergency Response Team (OPP) located the wanted male driving in Central Frontenac Township. The individual is prohibited from driving, and as a result, was arrested and charged.

Benjamin Foster, a 43-year-old male from Central Frontenac Township, was charged with: Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for 45 days.

The warrants for the individual were from the Durham Regional Police and Northumberland Detachment (OPP) for other offences before the courts. The individual was committed to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston, for a bail hearing. He was held in custody and will appear in court, at a later date.

Abraham Aguirre-Soto Was Arrested

(Sharbot Lake, ON) Members of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a collision on Highway 7 and McQuaid Road. A driver was arrested at the scene, after a collision with another vehicle sent the other driver to hospital with serious injuries.

 At approximately 12:00 pm on June 15, 2024, two vehicles were travelling west bound on Highway 7 and collided when one vehicle passed the other vehicle on the right shoulder, causing it to go into the ditch. The vehicle struck a rock face and rolled several times. The driver of that vehicle was transported to hospital by Ambulance with serious injuries.

Frontenac officers from the Sharbot Lake Detachment arrested the driver of the passing vehicle at the roadside, after speaking to witnesses that remained at the scene.

Abraham Aguirre-Soto, age 39, of Toronto was charged with the following offences.

·      Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

·      Resist Peace Officer

Central Frontenac Fire department assisted the Frontenac Paramedics at the scene. OPP Traffic Collision Investigation and OPP Reconstructionist attended, closing the highway for approximately nine hours.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Kingston, on August 6, 2024.
