Derek MARTIN – Cocaine & Impaired Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing charges after a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check in Espanola. 

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 6 at the intersection of Old Webbwood Road in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and police observed damage to the front end of the vehicle. An investigation was initiated, and as a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation. 

Additionally, police seized an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $850.

The driver, Derek MARTIN, 50-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 8, 2025.

Another School Goes Into Hold And Secure

(MIDLAND, ON) – On October 23, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious individual believed to be carrying a weapon near a local high school in the Town of Midland.

As a precautionary measure, the school was placed in a “Hold and Secure” protocol. This safety procedure restricts movement in and out of the building while allowing staff and students to continue regular activities inside. It is designed to ensure the safety of everyone while police conduct their investigation.

An increased police presence was deployed in the area of Cook Drive and Yonge Street. Officers quickly located and identified the individual in question. No weapon was found, and it was determined that no threats had been made. The hold and secure was lifted shortly before 12:05 p.m.

The Southern Georgian Bay OPP would like to thank the public and school staff for their cooperation and vigilance. The Ontario Provincial Police remains committed to protecting our communities, upholding the law, and preserving public safety.

Norman BULL Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A person is facing charges after police received a call reporting a possible impaired driver.

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a possible impaired driver whose vehicle was found in the ditch along Highway 17 in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. Shortly after this initial call, the driver of the vehicle in the ditch contacted police claiming to have been assaulted during a road rage incident.

Upon arrival, officers initiated an investigation and administered a breath test to the driver using an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which registered a FAIL. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.

Further investigation determined that the reported road rage incident and assault were fabricated and did not actually occur. As a result, the driver was also charged with public mischief for providing false information to police. 

The driver, Norman BULL, 31-years-old from Sault Ste Marie, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired (80 plus)
  • Public Mischief

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on November 17, 2025.

Nicholas Dean – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after receiving a call for service for a collision.

On Wednesday October 22, 2025 at approximately 7:57 pm, officers were notified of a single vehicle collision where the vehicle was on its roof with significant damage. Officers were dispatched to Monck Road in Somerville Township. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving related offences.

Nicholas Dean, 27-year-old of Prince Edward County was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Stephanie CLARKSON – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an impaired driving investigation in La Salette.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at approximately 5:16 a.m., the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a suspected impaired driver on Brantford Road in La Salette.

Officers located the vehicle nearby and, following a roadside sobriety test, arrested the driver without incident.

As a result, 37-year-old Stephanie CLARKSON of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

3 Arrested in Bust – Amanda ALBERT, Dustin HENDRICK & Vincent ALBERT

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Search warrant executed in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation results in firearm related charges.

On October 17, 2025, members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police, Oneida Nation Police, Munsee-Delaware First Nation, Elgin-Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Canine (K9), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Middlesex County OPP executed a search warrant at an address on Middlemiss Drive in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

CSCU members seized illicit drugs, suspected to be cocaine, four firearms, including two replica firearms, as well as ammunition and multiple edged weapons.

Amanda ALBERT, a 39-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Poss of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

Dustin HENDRICK, a 39-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

The accused were held for bail.

During execution of the warrant, an individual was observed attempting to flee the residence on foot. The individual was located by OPP Canine and placed under arrest.

As a result, Vincent ALBERT, a 41-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Resist Peace Officer

The accused was held for bail.

3 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Treaty Three Police Service and uniform members from the Dryden OPP Detachment have led to charges being laid against three individuals, including a male from Brampton, Ontario.  

On October 21, 2025, just after 10:00 p.m., a search warrant was executed on a residence on St. Charles Street, in the City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, as well as Canadian currency and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Gunnar MOSKOTAYWENENE, 28-years-old, and Lorna KAKEGAMIC, 27-years-old, both of Dryden, have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offence:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

Eric MORGAN, 25-years-old, of Brampton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Failure to comply with probation order

MOSKOTAYWENENE and KAKEGAMIC have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice November 17, 2025. MORGAN has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on October 24, 2025.

AI Used To Track Down And Arrest Matthew RIVERA

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made an arrest after a vehicle was identified as being stolen.

On Wednesday October 22, 2025, just prior to 11:30pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer on general patrol was alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser that a vehicle in the vicinity was a stolen vehicle. The officer proceeded in the direction the vehicle had traveled and caught up to it as it had come to stop at a construction site on Highway 7 in Asphodel-Norwood. The officer approached the vehicle advising the driver that they were under arrest. 

Matthew RIVERA (age 33) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

• Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Human Remains Identified as Murder Victim – Robert SKYES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – As part of an ongoing investigation in Simcoe, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed the identity of human remains discovered in a wooded area near Highway 6 in Haldimand County.

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., investigators located human remains in a wooded area off Highway 6, west of Caledonia and south of Stirling Street.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, a postmortem examination at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) confirmed the deceased as 49-year-old Robert SYKES of Simcoe and determined the cause of death to be homicide.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and OFPS. Assistance is also being provided by the OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Brock SARGINSON Arrested Following Collision

(EMSDALE, ON) – A single-vehicle collision near Emsdale has led to impaired driving-related charges for a Novar resident.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Parry Sound District Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Star Lake Road.

Police conducted an investigation and formed grounds to believe the driver had consumed alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Burk’s Falls OPP detachment, where they were lawfully required to provide breath samples. The driver declined to comply with the demand.

As a result of the investigation, Brock SARGINSON, 35 years-of-age from Novar, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on December 18, 2025. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Repeat Offender Kenneth MEGGINSON Arrested Again #3Strikes

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people are facing charges after police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a suspicious vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 17 in the Nairn-Hyman Township. Police attended the location and observed the driver to be passed out at the wheel, as well as observed the passenger to be making sporadic movements. Police initiated an investigation, and both the driver and passenger were arrested as a result.

Additionally, police located an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $740, an amounted of suspected hydromorphone with an estimated street value of $80, and two air soft firearms. 

The driver, Kenneth MEGGINSON, 44-years-old from Goulais River, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose – two counts

The passenger, Alain SAUVE, 59-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on November 17, 2025.

Theodore BEBONING Charged After Stop Sign Incident

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – A driver is facing impaired-related charges after a traffic stop.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting stop sign enforcement at the intersection of Highway 551 and Highway 542 in Mindemoya. Police observed a vehicle enter the intersection and nearly cause a collision. A traffic stop was initiated for further investigation. Police had the driver complete a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST), and as a result the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver, Theodore BEBONING, 38-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Fail to yield to traffic
  • Knowingly give invalid insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on November 18, 2025.

Robert SAUDER – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A person is facing impaired-related charges after a two vehicle collision.

On Monday, September 29, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a two-vehicle collision on Annette Street in the Town of Espanola. Police attended the collision scene, confirmed there was no injuries, and initiated an investigation. A breath test was completed with one of the drivers using an Approved Screening Device (ASD), and the driver was arrested as a result.

Robert SAUDER, 57-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Selena RUTTAN – Impaired Driving, Etc.

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a traffic complaint led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may be under the influence of alcohol.

An approved alcohol screening device was utilized, the driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing.

Selena RUTTAN, age 20, from Frankford, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero
  • Young Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Fail to remain

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on November 13, 2025. The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their license suspended for 90 days.

18 Year Old Charged Following Hit & Run

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver has been charged following a collision with a hydro pole.

On October 22, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an abandoned single-vehicle collision with a hydro pole on Sixth Line in Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old from Wallenstein, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to report accident
