Repeat Offender Arrested In Hensall – Armed Robbery, Tractor Jacking, Etc.

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron County resident is facing ten criminal charges following some harrowing moments that took place this weekend near Hensall. 

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services received several calls about a possible impaired driver that just rolled a vehicle at the intersection of Walnut Road and Morrison Line. 

Following the crash the accused confronted a passerby that stopped at the crash scene. The accused brandished a weapon and attempted to steal the passerby’s vehicle. After his failed attempt the accused fled the scene on foot to a nearby farmhouse where he attempted to steal another vehicle. After this second failed carjacking the accused located and started up a farm tractor that was on the property.     

The tractor owner attempted to stop the accused however the accused set the tractor in motion and began driving dangerously around the property. The owner clung onto the side of the tractor as he tried to gain control of the machine. The owner was able to veer the tractor away from the residence however the tractor collided with a large tree on the property. Ultimately the owner gained control of the tractor and got it stopped.  Upon doing so the accused exited the machine and once again took off running.

Moments later police arrived on scene whereupon they located the accused running in a nearby field.  A conducted energy weapon was utilized by officers to gain control of the out of control subject.

Justin FIELD, 30 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

  • Robbery with Intent
  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Resist a Peace Officer
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Two Counts
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order
  • Operation While Impaired

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 31, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Meaford – Assault Police, Etc.

(MEAFORD, ON) On March 25, 2021 at 11:05 a.m. Grey Bruce OPP responded to a disturbance on Victoria Street, in the Town of Meaford, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Officers were advised that a suspect with a weapon was outside a residence screaming and yelling and being confrontational with other residents in the area.

Officers attended and spoke with all of the involved parties. The suspect was arrested for uttering threats and several other criminal charges.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Justin NEUMANN, 31 years-of-age, from Meaford, ON with the following offences:

  • Assault a Peace Officer, section 270(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Forcible confinement, section 279(2) CCC
  • Three (3) counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, section 264.1(1)(a) CCC
  • Three (3) counts of failing to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CCC

The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 29, 2021.

Middlesex Weekend Report

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy during their part to keep our communities safe. 

Middlesex Centre, ON – On March 26, 2021 at 11:14 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling 87km/h over the posted speed limit on Richmond Street, Middlesex Center. 

Police have charged a 35-year-old driver of Lucan-Biddulph, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

(Southwest Middlesex) – On, March 28, 2021 at 12:09 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver on Egremont Drive, Middlesex Centre.

Upon further investigation, police determined the driver of the motor vehicle had consumed alcohol. The officer demanded that the driver provide a road-side breath sample where upon the driver registered a “FAIL”.

Jamie KRAFT, a 34-year-old from London has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on April 27, 2021.

Lucan-Biddulph, ON – On March 27, 2021 at 6:48 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling 57km/h over the posted speed limit on Elginfield Road, Lucan-Biddulph Township. 

Police have charged a 22-year-old driver of London, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

Lucan-Biddulph, ON – On March 27, 2021 at 7:44 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit on Elginfield Road, Lucan-Biddulph Township. 

Police have charged a 32-year-old driver of Middlesex Centre, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

Both vehicles were impounded at the roadside and both driver’s licences were suspended for a period of 7 days.

The drivers are scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

North Middlesex, ON – On March 27, 2021 at 6:54 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit on Grand Bend Road, North Middlesex Township. 

Police have charged a 29-year-old driver of London, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

Southwest Middlesex, ON – On, March 26, 2021 at 7:39 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, observed a vehicle travelling 47km/h over the posted speed limit on Glendon Drive, Southwest Middlesex Township.

Upon further investigation, police determined the driver of the motor vehicle had consumed alcohol. The officer demanded that the driver provide a road-side breath sample where upon the driver registered a “FAIL”.

Harley SCHOELIER, a 34-year-old from Appin has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on May 6, 2021.

4 Dead In Barn Fire

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On June 5, 2019 at approximately 4:25 a.m., members of Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious fire at a farm on Jerseyville Road.

Brant OPP and the County of Brant Fire Service attended at that location and found a barn and a truck destroyed , along with four pygmy goats who perished as a result of the fire. 

Following an investigation involving the Huronia West OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Brant County Crime Unit and Brant County CSCU, two individuals were arrested and charged in connection with arson fires in Stratford, Niagara, Brantford and two in Brant County.

  • Jayson Ronald BIGELOW, 37 years-of-age from Brantford is charged with Arson – Damage to Property (five counts) and Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000.
  • Daniel Ryan PERRY, 33 years-of-age from Brantford is charged with Arson – Damage to Property (five counts).

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.

Another 20 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For Speeding

(CHATSWORTH, ON) On March 24, 2021 at 8:48 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP stopped a motor vehicle for excessive speeding on Highway 10, near Road 70, in the Township of Chatsworth, that was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Edwin DAVIS, 20 years-of-age, from Sudbury, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

$175,000 Drug Bust – THIBAULT & EFFTING

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On March 26, 2021 at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Perth CSCU, Huron CSCU, the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and uniform officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at an address on Wellington Road 34 in Puslinch Township.

On the same date, Guelph Police Service assisted in executing a search warrant at a residence in the City of Guelph that was related to the investigation.

During the execution of the search warrants, officers seized a quantity of cocaine, heroin, morphine, and psilocybin, Canadian currency, and drug paraphernalia.

The drugs seized have an estimated street value of over $145,000. Police also seized close to $30,000 in cash.

Pierre Andre THIBAULT, 50-years-old of Puslinch Township faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Morphine
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Psilocybin
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Heroin

Warren EFFTING, 35-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Cocaine.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear at a later date in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph to answer to the charges.

20 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For Speeding

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) On March 25, 2021 at 2:30 a.m. Grey Bruce OPP stopped a motor vehicle for excessive speeding on Highway 10, near Road 130, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands that was travelling over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Mohammed AL-BELDAWI, 20 years-of-age, from Owen Sound, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

Fatal Collision

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) –  On Friday March 26, 2021 at 6:43 a.m., Brant OPP, Brant County Fire Services and Brant County Paramedic Services responded to Bishopsgate Road at Ellis Avenue in Brant County for a three-vehicle collision.

One individual sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending next-of-kin notification.

Brant County paramedics transported the two other motorists to hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Bishopsgate Road and Ellis Avenue were closed for approximately eight hours while emergency crews and investigators were on scene.

OPP West Region Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone in the area of the collision who may own a dash camera and may have witnessed the collision, or anyone with information to assist the investigation, to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Adam CHILTON – Drunk Driving

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) –  A resident of Goderich has been arrested and is facing Impaired Operation charges stemming from a single vehicle crash that was investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) late last year.  

On Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:41 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and Lucknow Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision located on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway south of Amberley. Upon arrival first responders located a pickup truck that was upside down in the ditch and a driver that was trapped inside. Emergency responders were able to extricate the driver and were able to transport him to hospital for his injuries. 

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying some signs of impairment. Due to the driver’s injuries he was unable to provide a breath sample. However, a blood sample analysis was completed by a toxicologist and police were later informed the driver registered a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.      

The driver has since been arrested and released. Adam CHILTON, 38 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). A court date has been scheduled for May 3, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

William NEUDORF – Drunk Driving 4X Legal Limit

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On March 21, 2021 at 8:06 p.m. members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to motor vehicle stopped in the live lane of traffic on Highway 6, near Grey Road 6, in the Township of Southgate.  

OPP officers attended the scene and located the driver. The involved driver was arrested for impaired driving. A breath test recorded readings over four time the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged William NEUDORF, 30 years-of-age, from Georgina, with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC
  • Drive a vehicle with cannabis readily available, section 12(1) of the Cannabis Act 2017
  • Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 29, 2021

James WALKER – Threats, Assault Police, Breach, Etc

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On March 21, 2021 at 11:28 a.m. Grey Bruce OPP responded to a disturbance on Bruce Road 8, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

A suspect made threats against another person at a residence and also caused mischief to their property. The suspect left the scene prior to police arrival.

As a result of this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for James WALKER, 39 years-of-age, from South Bruce Peninsula.

On March 22, 2021 Grey Bruce OPP located the accused in a motor vehicle on Bruce Road 13, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged WALKER with the following offences:

  • Assault a Peace Officer, section 270(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Resist a Peace Officer, section 129(a) CCC
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, section 264.1(1)(a) CCC
  • Six(6) counts of failing to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CCC
  • Mischief under $5,000., section 430(4) CCC
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property, section 430(1(a) CCC

The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 23, 2021.

Patricia HARPER – Drunk Driving

(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 24, 2021 at 2:20 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a possible impaired driver in Warwick Township.

Lambton OPP members attended the area where they located the vehicle on Nauvoo Road and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. A reading of “FAIL” was determined. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.

As a result, Patricia HARPER, 64-years-old of Warwick Township has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) pursuant to the Criminal Code.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Impaired Driver Vs Hydro Pole, Methamphetamine A Factor – WOODS & SNELL

(BLUEWATER, ON) –  Two residents of South Huron are facing charges following a crash early yesterday morning south of Clinton. 

On Wednesday, March 23, 2021 at 5:49 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a single vehicle collision located on London Road south of Clinton. Upon arrival officers located a sport utility vehicle that had struck a hydro pole and had rolled onto its hood. Fortunately for the occupants they escaped the crash with minimal injuries.   

The subsequent investigation revealed the unlicensed driver was operating the vehicle while impaired by a drug. Additionally, the driver and passenger were found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. 

The driver was arrested and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where they completed an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE). Upon completion of the evaluation the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

Jordan WOODS, 25 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Impaired Operation, Resist Peace Officer and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine.

Craig SNELL, 40 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Two Counts. 

Both accused have since been released from custody with court appearances scheduled for May 3, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Christopher WILLIAMS 185 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On March 23, 2021 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 south of Arthur. The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 185 km/h.

As a result, Christopher WILLIAMS, 43-years-old of Listowel, has been charged with Stunt Driving-Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on July 7, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

More Charges In Homicide Investigation

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid additional charges in connection with the disappearance and death of a 25 year old male in early 2020.

On May 3, 2020, Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a missing person. The body of Emerson SPRUNG of Meaford was then located on May 6, 2020. Soon afterward, the OPP arrested and charged a 34 year old Meaford resident with First Degree Murder, under section 235(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).

On July 22, 2020 as a result of the ongoing investigation, two additional people were arrested and charged:  

  • Laurel CAMPBELL, 28 years old from Municipality of Meaford, has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Section 240 CCC.  
  • Bridget Taylor SMITH, 25 years old from Municipality of Meaford, has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Section 240 CCC.

On March 23, 2021, Grey Bruce OPP, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, have now additionally charged these two individuals with two counts each of Failing to Comply With Release Order, Section 145(5)(a) CCC.

Both these accused were held for bail hearings in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 24, 2021.
