Caily MCDONALD – Cocaine, Drive While Suspended, Etc.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to multiple charges for London driver.

On July 29, 2024, at 7:38 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre for the report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle south of Elginfield Road on Richmond Street and performed a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result, Caily MCDONALD, a 36-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 13, 2024.

Matthew PRITCHARD – Theft, Drugs, Etc.

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – On July 31, 2024, at 6:47 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a motor vehicle.

Police attended Hayes Lake Road in the Township of Huron- Kinloss and located the stolen vehicle. An officer on patrol located the individual responsible for the theft.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew PRITCHARD, 39-years-old from Huron-Kinloss, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of Schedule 1 CDSA
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of Property over $5000
  • Mischief

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Russell GEEN – Dangerous Operation

(TYENDINAGA TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving related offences.

On July 29, 2024, just before 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Moneymore Road in Tyendinaga Township. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the driver, who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

No injuries were sustained.

As a result, Russell GEEN, age 61, of Tyendinaga Township was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 20, 2024.

Derek SKINNER – Drunk Driving

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – Driver arrested for Impaired driving after South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped motorist on Concession 12 in the Township Huron-Kinloss.

On July 30, 2024, at 11:29 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Concession 12, in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

The driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician.

Derek SKINNER, 54-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired -over 80

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against three people.

On July 25, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Machin of a previously reported stolen vehicle. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three people. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and hydromorphone, morphine as well as other drug paraphernalia.    

As a result of the investigation, the following charges were laid.

Reuben STONEY, 33 years old, of Fort Severn First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – two counts

Brittney RIPLEY, 29 years old, of Dryden, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Sean FLETT, 29 years old, of Machin, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

One accused was released on undertaking and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice August 26, 2024. Other two accused have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice July 31, 2024, and August 02, 2024.

2 Facing Drug Charges

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against two Manitoba residents.

On July 27,2024, just prior to 1:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17 by Bedworth Road, after an officer observed vehicle being driven erratically. During the investigation, officers searched the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act, where a quantity of suspected illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash were located.

As a result of the investigation Adam LEPP, 30-years-old, of Vassar, MB has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act & Liquor License Act with the following offences:

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

·        Distribute over 30g of dried cannabis

·        Distribute one or more cannabis plants

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·        Pass-roadway not clear – approaching traffic

·        Drive left of center – approaching crest of grade

·        Drive motor vehicle – no license

·        Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

Additionally, Candace DOKKEN, 36-years-old, of Vassar, MB has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offence:

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

·        Distribute over 30g of dried cannabis

·        Distribute one or more cannabis plants

The accused individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 9, 2024, in Dryden.

Andrew FROST Arrested Again

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – On July 29 at approximately 11:00 pm members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle call for service on County Road 4 in Prince Edward County. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Andrew FROST, age 46 of Deseronto has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on August 21, 2024.

The accused’s licence is suspended for 90 days and vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Chantelle PETIT Was Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against a local resident.

On July 23, 2024, just prior to 9:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Mary Avenue in the City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a Zealand Twp resident and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and hydromorphone as well as Canadian currency and evidence of drug trafficking.  

As a result of the investigation, Chantelle PETIT, 32 years old, of Zealand Twp, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice July 31, 2024.

Joshua CRONKWRIGHT – Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged an individual with firearms offences.

On May 20, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers were called to an address on Union Street in Picton where a firearm had been discharged and one individual was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Joshua CRONKWRIGHT, age 30 from Prince Edward County was charged with the following offences:

  • Careless use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Public mischief 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 31, 2024.

Matthew HARRISON – Drunk Driving

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located an impaired driver after tips were received from the public.

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were advised of a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 in Strong Township. Officers located the suspect pickup vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Matthew HARRISON, 38 years-of-age, of Kearney was charged with

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Sundridge Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Manpreet CHADHA – Drunk Driving

(MELANCTHON, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers have removed and charged a driver with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On July 27, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of County Road 124 in the Township of Melancthon. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Manpreet CHADHA, 47-year-old male, from North York has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

5 Arrested – Names Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – Five individuals have been arrested following a suspicious vehicle investigation.

On July 29, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Concession 8, Walpole.

The investigation determined that two vehicles were observed at that location, and one had left the scene prior to police arrival. Police located both vehicles and all involved were taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have each been charged with the two listed Criminal Code offences:

22-year-old Bence BALAZS of Bowmanville

45-year-old Csaba BALAZS of Whitby

32-year-old Gusztav BALAZS of Moose Jaw

51-year-old Gyozo BALAZS of Scarborough

27-year-old David KALOCSAI of Whitby

  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

All the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 10, 2024.

Paul MARCONI – Fraud & Theft

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple fraud related offences.

With assistance from Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) an investigation was conducted. Officers laid charges in connection with a lengthy fraud investigation looking into offences dating back several years, with numerous victims. The losses are estimated to be over approximately $500,000.

Paul MARCONI, a 65-year-old of Prince Edward County, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Fraud over $5000 – fifteen counts
  • Theft over $5000 –  fifteen counts
  • Make false statement in writing- the making of a loan – four counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on August 28, 2024.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information surrounding these incidents is being urged to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

Stephen PARADIS – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired driving.

On July 29, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Pleasant Valley Road to speak with an individual regarding an unrelated matter. While at the residence, police observed this individual drive an all-terrain vehicle from Pleasant Valley Road up their driveway to where police stood outside of the residence.

Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Stephen PARADIS, 61-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to securely fasten helmet chin strap
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no current validated permit
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 9, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the all-terrain vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Timothy SMUCK – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A driver was arrested after police conducted a traffic stop on Richert Road, near Kohler.

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., while on patrol, a member of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle operating in an erratic manner.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Timothy SMUCK of Jarvis has been charged with the following offences:

·      Operation While Impaired

·      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024.
