Large Drug Bust – Jayson MCCONNELL Arrested Again

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested an individual in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday February 26, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU located an individual on Highway 115 believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers conducted a traffic stop at which point the driver was placed under arrest.

Officers conducted a search incident to arrest and located a kilogram of suspected Cocaine as well as Marihuana Hash and Marihuana Bud.

Immediately upon being arrested, the accused advised that they needed to attend an industrial unit located in Peterborough City as a large Marihuana Extractor had been left running and if it was not shut off, it could explode. Officers, along with the Peterborough Fire Department attended and the machine was safely shut off.

Warrants were executed at both the industrial unit as well as the accused’s residence where police located a large Marihuana resin extraction machine, 51 garbage bags filled with Marihuana bud/shake, 2kg of Marihuana Hash, and approximately 10 litres of Marihuana oil.

Jayson MCCONNELL (age 39) of Ennismore, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession for the purpose of distributing Cannabis (two counts)

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

·      Fail to comply with a Release Order

·      Obtain or offer to obtain Cannabis by any method or process (manufacturing, altering chemical or physical properties)

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

During the arrest, officers located and seized:

·      1 kilogram of Cocaine

·      $755 in Canadian Currency

·      2 kilograms of Hash

·      10 litres of Hash Oil

·      Large amounts of Marihuana for processing

·      Large Industrial Marihuana Resin Extraction machine

·      Various chemicals associated with Marihuana Resin extraction

·      51 garbage bags of Marihuana Shake

·      A spring-loaded knife

·      Cellphone

The Ontario Fire Marshall is also looking into possible charges/fines in relation to the operation of the Marihuana extraction machine.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit, arrested three individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday February 5, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU, along with ROPE located an individual in the city of Peterborough believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers observed the vehicle they were in, enter a parking area of a business located on Lansdowne Street. Officers approached the vehicle taking three individuals into custody. Upon a search of the vehicle, a handgun and ammunition were located.

A warrant was executed at the residence of the driver of the vehicle where a person wanted out of Northumberland was located and arrested. As well at this location, officers located a shotgun as well as a prohibited rifle and ammunition.

Wallace GROVES (age 42) of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Other Drugs

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)

·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)

·      Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

·      Breach of Recognizance

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000

·      Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order (four counts)

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Leanne LOCKHART (age 31) of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)

·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)

·      Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

David LIEBENOW (age 62) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)

·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

During the arrest, officers located and seized:

·      3.5 grams Crack Cocaine

·      56 Oxycodone pills

·      Canadian Currency

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested four individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday January 22, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU made an arrest of two individuals during a suspected drug transaction. The individuals were searched and officers seized 40.9 grams of Fentanyl and 7 grams of crack cocaine.

Officers further executed a search warrant of a location in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan and further seized 23 grams of cocaine, 9.9 grams of crack cocaine, 118 Percocet, drug packaging, digital scales, and $8,010 in Canadian currency. During the search, a third person, currently wanted by the Peterborough Police Service (PPS), was located and turned over to them.

A second search warrant was executed at a location in Peterborough City where a fourth (4th) person was located and arrested. During this search, officers seized an additional 77 grams of cocaine as well as $1,287 in Canadian currency. An additional unrelated person with multiple outstanding warrants with PPS was also located and turned over to them

John FOOTE (age 61) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin) – two counts

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Patrick MIDDLETON (age 38) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

 Jessica NEEDHAM (age 37) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000

Both these accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.

A fourth accused, a 45-year-old from Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds obtained by Crime Under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.

Even More Impaired Drivers

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged five individuals with impaired related charges within the first few days of the 2024 Festive R.I.D.E. campaign.

     On November 22, 2024, just after 7:30pm, a Peterborough County officer was on general patrol on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. The officer’s attention was drawn to a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and after a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Thomas HUFF (age 27) of Nepean, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 7, 2025.

     On November 22, 2024, just after 8:00pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint which resulted in the vehicle leaving the roadway and ending up in a ditch. Officers responded to the location on Highway 7 in the Asphodel-Norwood Township and observed a vehicle in the ditch with the driver making effort to drive the vehicle back out on to the road. The officer approached and instructed the driver to stop. After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Cole EDWARDS (age 20) of Douro-Dummer Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Fail to notify change of address

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 7, 2025.

     On November 23, 2024, just after 12:00am, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 7 in Cavan-Monaghan Township. The vehicle in question had attempted to access Highway 115 northbound lanes but failed to negotiate the bend on the on-ramp, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and coming to a stop in the ditch. Officers attended the location and spoke with the driver noting signs of impairment. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

Luke STEVENSON (age 24) of Douro-Dummer Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 7, 2025.

     On November 23, 2024, just prior to 7:00pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 115. The officer’s attention was drawn to a vehicle travelling well above the posted 100km per hour speed limit. The officer obtained a speed reading of 168km per hour, locking the speed on their LIDAR at 166km per hour. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Paul GREEN (age 28) of Newcastle, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 7, 2025.

     On Sunday November 24, 2024, just prior to 2:30pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a single motor vehicle in the ditch call on Yankee Line in Selwyn Township. Officers arrived on scene and observed a vehicle in the south ditch, with an individual still in the driver’s seat. Officers spoke with the driver noting signs of impairment at which point the driver was arrested.

Craig TALBOT (age 53) of Ennismore, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 17, 2024.

Abdul MALIK – Drunk Driving

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping at a R.I.D.E. program.

On November 18, 2024, just prior to 12:30am, Peterborough County OPP Officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at County Road 4 and Television Road. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. program and an officer spoke with the driver. After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. 5 Arrested In Drug Bust

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Peterborough Police Service (PPS), and Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), arrested five individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Thursday October 3, 2024, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU located an individual in the city of Peterborough believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers went to arrest the individual who attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly afterwards.

Robert DAVIS (age 33) of Ajax, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Fentanyl

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000 – (two counts)

·      Obstruct Police

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

·      Tampering with a serial number

·      Careless Storage of a Firearm

·      Possession of a Prohibited Device

·      Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order

During the arrest, officers located and seized:

·      6 ounces of Fentanyl

·      Canadian Currency

·      Two cell phones

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Upon the arrest, members of the Central East OCEB, Quinte West CSCU, and officers from PPS conducted entry and searches at a Peterborough address as well as a location in Campbellford.

During the search in Campbellford, officers located and seized:

·      90 Percocet

·      1 gram Fentanyl

·      Canadian Currency

·      2 long guns (suspected to be stolen)

·      2 scales

·      Cell phones

·      Taser

During the search in Peterborough, officers located and seized:

·      231 grams of Cocaine

·      170 grams of MDMA

·      Canadian Currency

·      A handgun

·      A shotgun

·      Digital camera (suspected to be stolen)

·      2 E-bikes (suspected to be stolen)

·      Cell phones

·      Ammunition

Upon entry of the Peterborough location officers located two persons as well as an unloaded handgun. Both were arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.

Tracy BEAULNE (age 52) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – MDMA

·      Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

·      Possession of a firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With

·      Careless storage of a firearm

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

A youth (Y/O) was also found at the location and arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA

·      Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm – (two counts)

·      Careless storage of a firearm – (two counts)

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

·      Possession of proceeds obtained by Crime Under $5000

·      Fail to comply with Undertaking

The youth was held for Bail

Peterborough CSCU members, City of Kawartha Lakes Police, Central East OCEB, and DRPS also conducted a search warrant at a location in Ajax.

During the search, officers located and seized:

·      A loaded firearm and ammunition

·      Canadian Currency

·      Jewelry

·      Bullet proof vest

·      A gold bar

·      Cell phones

·      A Mercedes C54

·      A baton

·      Scales

As part of the seizures, investigators have identified property believed to have been stolen and are seeking assistance in identifying the rightful owners. Officers have seized two higher end bicycles, a camera, and two rifles. Dillan FARNELL – Theft, Break & Enter, Etc.

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) entered into an investigation regarding multiple Break and Enters and Thefts which has resulted in an arrest.

On Wednesday October 2, 2024, members of the Peterborough County OPP CSCU, assisted by the Peterborough Police Service (PPS), received information regarding a person believed to be involved in a string of Break and Enters and Thefts that occurred in both Peterborough County and Peterborough City.

Officers attended a location in Peterborough City, identified the individual and arrested them.

Dillan FARNELL (age 26) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle (three counts)
  • Theft under $5000 (five counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (two counts)
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence (four counts)
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Michael POLLEY – Drunk Driving

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping at a R.I.D.E. program.

The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Michael POLLEY (age 46) of Cavan, ON., was arrested and charged with:

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 15, 2024.

Police Officer Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested and charged a member of the Peterborough Police Service in relation to an investigation that began earlier this year.

On March 18, 2024, the Chief of the Peterborough Police Service requested that the OPP investigate allegations involving a Peterborough Police Service member.  

The investigation was commenced under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

On September 7, 2024, Mackenzie ROGERS, age 27, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following offences:  

• Breach of trust, contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code – two counts

• Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000, contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 8, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals with impaired driving over the Labour Day long weekend.

On Friday August 30, 2024, shortly after 9:30pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a vehicle that had gone into the ditch on Belmont 7th Line in the Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the driver noting an odour of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Jake PERRY (age 22) of Campbellford, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 17, 2024.

On Saturday August 31, 2024, at approximately 7:00pm, Peterborough County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on the off-ramp from Highway 115 at County Road 28 in Cavan-Monaghan Township. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. and an officer spoke to the driver. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Maxwell CANT (age 28) of Selwyn, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 3, 2024.

On Monday September 2, 2024, at approximately 7:00pm, Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over on Highway 7 in Cavan-Monaghan Township. A passerby contacted the OPP advising that a passenger in the vehicle had an injury to their forehead and the driver of the vehicle had run off into a nearby wooded area. Officers arrived on scene where they were provided a description of the driver. In an effort to locate the driver to ensure they were not injured, a call was placed for a K9 unit to attend. The Peterborough Police Service (PPS) also advised they could dispatch a drone operator to assist with the search. Several hours later, the driver of the vehicle was located and arrested.

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

2 More Drunk Drivers Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with impaired driving within a single shift.

On Wednesday July 31, 2024, at approximately 6:25pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was dispatched to a call for a single vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 46 in the township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen. The officer arrived on scene to find the vehicle damaged and the driver being assessed by EMS. After the driver was cleared by EMS, the officer spoke with the driver and noted an odour of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Raymond DAVID (age 72) of Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 3, 2024.

On Wednesday July 31, 2024, just shortly after 10:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call for a possible impaired driver in the Buckhorn area. The caller advised that they witnessed a vehicle pull into a local business and back into a gazebo on the property. The caller managed to take the keys from the driver and waited for police arrival. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the driver and made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Ivor JEPPESEN (age 24) of Markham, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 10, 2024.

One Traffic Stop, Two Arrests

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop which resulted in two people being charged with weapons offences.

On June 7, 2024, Peterborough County OPP officers were conducting general patrol when a vehicle caught their attention as it appeared to be swerving in its lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, observed drug paraphernalia within reach of the driver. During the interaction, officers observed a magazine for a firearm in the rear of the vehicle. Upon investigation, both the magazine and a rifle were located in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were both queried and it was determined that both were currently on weapons prohibitions. Both were arrested on scene.

Jesse GARLOW (age 39) of Douro-Dummer Twp, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·      Careless storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of Break in Instruments

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Jonathan GUTHRIE (age 37) of Whitby, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·      Careless storage of a Firearm, Weapon , Prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of Break in Instruments

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused were held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

More Drunk Drivers Taken Off The Road

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made four separate arrests related to impaired driving over a three day period..

On April 12, 2024, at approximately 10:30pm, the Peterborough County OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle in the ditch that was reported on Fallis Line in Selwyn Township. The vehicle left the roadway driving across the front lawn of a residence, narrowly missing striking the house. The driver made attempts to drive off the lawn only to create deep ruts and getting the vehicle stuck in the ditch. The driver, realizing that the vehicle was now stuck, fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers arrived on scene and after patrolling the area, located the driver walking a short distance away. While officers spoke with the driver, an odour of alcohol was detected as well as signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested.

Andy VARDON-ELEMENT (age 28) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 4, 2024.

On April 13, 2024, just shortly after 3:30pm, Peterborough County OPP officers were called to a business in Havelock after a bystander observed a vehicle that had struck the building while attempting to park. The driver was located unconscious in the vehicle. Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the location to ensure the well-being of the driver. Officers arrived on scene and quickly observed signs of impairment as well as an odour of alcohol coming from the breath of the driver. The driver was transported to hospital to attend to some minor injuries and was arrested.

Debra LEVERE (age 64) of Havelock, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 14, 2024.

On April 14, 2024, just after 2:30am, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call in relation to a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 8 in Douro-Dummer Township. A passerby advised that they had seen the damaged vehicle and approached it only to find the driver unconscious behind the wheel. It was at that point they call 911. Peterborough County OPP officers arrived at scene to find a heavily damaged vehicle that had gone off the road possibly flipping multiple times prior to coming to a stop on all four wheels. Officers spoke to the now conscious driver and quickly observed signs of impairment as well as an odour of alcohol coming from the breath of the driver. As a result of their investigation, the driver was arrested.

Dawson ENGLISH (age 20) of Asphodel-Norwood, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Having Care or Control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Possess more than one licence

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 4, 2024.               

On April 14, 2024, just prior to 8:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Poplar Plains Drive in the Cavan-Monaghan Township. Upon speaking with the driver officers detected possible signs of impairment. Officers read the driver the Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, the driver provided a sample of their breath and as a result was arrested.

Eric SORENSEN (age 35) of Cavan-Monaghan Township, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 21, 2024.

Repeat Offender Matthew HEANEY Arrested Again

On February 24, 2024, just prior to 9:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers conducted a stop of a vehicle on Television Road in the City of Peterborough. During the stop officers determined the driver to be impaired. A search o the vehicle was conducted as a result of the arrest and various controlled substances were located. The vehicle passenger was also arrested as a result of the search.

Matthew HEANEY (age 33) of Frankford, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

·      Poss of a Schedule II Substance – Other drugs

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
