Ian HOPPER Arrested Again – Break & Enter

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid several charges against a local resident after a recent break, enter and theft.   

The UOV OPP began investigating a break, enter and theft that took place on the morning of March 12, 2024. A garage at a residence on River Road in Pembroke was entered and an assortment of hand and power tools were stolen including an air compressor and reciprocating saw. An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) assisted with the investigation.   

As a result of this incident 48-year-old Ian HOPPER of Petawawa has been arrested and charged following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Theft under $5000
  • Breach of probation – three counts

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 23, 2024.

Meth Bust – RATHIER

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A Laurentian Valley Township resident is facing drug and weapons charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in Pembroke.   

On March 11, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., officers stopped a passenger vehicle on MacKay Street. Cannabis was found to be readily available in the vehicle and officers also seized suspected methamphetamine along with weapons, including a modified nail gun, ammunition, and replica firearm.

As a result of this investigation 27-year-old Andrew RATHIER is facing the following charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Criminal Code (CC) and Cannabis Control Act (CCA):

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine

·        Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

·        Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused was released following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15, 2024.

6 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Six people facing drug trafficking and other criminal charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized multiple types of dangerous drugs in Pembroke. Police are investigating links between these drugs and recent overdoses in the community, including deaths suspected to be the result of drug overdoses.

The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit executed search warrants March 13, 2024, at two apartments on Moffat Street. 

Six people were arrested, and officers seized over 50-grams of suspected cocaine, as well as suspected fentanyl, nearly 10-grams of MDMA and methamphetamine pills. Officers also seized items associated with drug trafficking including scales, packaging material and replica firearms/pellet guns.

Ben LUSH, age 39 of Petawawa is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The following individuals are charged with two counts each of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking:

  • Ian ARSENAULT, age 41 of Pembroke
  • Emma JENKINS, age 19 of Petawawa

ARESENAULT is additionally charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

The following individuals are each charged with one count of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking:

  • Teressa HAMMILL, age 23 of Pembroke
  • Roseanne SYLVESTER, age 40 of Pembroke
  • Blake TYSICK, age 57 of Pembroke

TYSICK and SYLVESTER were released with a scheduled appearance for the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 9, 2024. The other accused are schedule to appear for a bail hearing today (March 14, 2024).

Stabbing – 4 Arrested, ADAMS, MCGIVERN, SHAFFER, CHARLEBOIS

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment has charged four people after an assault in downtown Pembroke.

Officers were called to Pembroke Street West around 9:00 p.m. on March 12, 2024, where they located a 25-year-old male with a stab wound and other minor injuries. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, four people have been arrested.

Richard ADAMS, age 38 of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement
  • Failure to comply with a prohibition order

Meryl MCGIVERN, age 37 of Pembroke has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Forcible confinement
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

Jaclyn SHAFFER, age 43 of Killaloe has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle

Jade CHARLEBOIS, age 25 of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with assault with a weapon.

All four accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15, 2024.

Jim CORDEIRO Arrested Again

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A wanted individual is now in custody after being arrested in the City of Pembroke.

On the morning of March 5, 2024, members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the individual and, with the assistance of patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP, an arrest was made. The accused was wanted in relation to a criminal harassment and intimidation investigation after police and probation officers were targeted in January and February 2024. 

Jim CORDEIRO, age 41 of no fixed address, is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Intimidation of justice system participant – two counts
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – six counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing on March 6, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

8 Arrested In Guns & Drugs Bust – Names Released

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Eight people face a total of 54 Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) charges after the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine in Pembroke. A stolen firearm and replica pistols were also seized.    

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, executed a search warrant on February 29, 2024, at an apartment on Pembroke Street East.

In addition to the illegal drugs and guns, officers also located items typically associated with drug trafficking, including digital scales, packaging material and multiple cell phones.

Kerry Lynn BILODEAU, age 41 of Bonnechere Valley Township, Shawn William BOLGER, age 36 of Pembroke, Joanne REIS, age 61 of Pembroke, Arin ROSE, age 21 of Pembroke, each face the following CC and CDSA charges:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

BILODEAU faces one additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

BOLGER faces two additional charges of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

REIS faces three additional charges of failing to comply with a probation order.

ROSE faces two additional charges of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and two additional charges of failing to comply with probation.

Owen IRVING, age 22 of Brockville, Lorraine KENNY, age 54 of Pembroke, Jillian MELANCON, age 40 of Pembroke, and Brianna Lynn SAKER, age 43 of Pembroke, each face the following CC and CDSA charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

SAKER, KENNY, and MELANCON were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 16, 2024

IRVING, BILODEAU, BOLGER, REIS, and ROSE were held for a bail hearing on March 1, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Attempted Murder With Firearm

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual after a shooting incident in Pembroke.

On February 23, 2024, just before 6:30 a.m., OPP responded to an Intimate Parter Violence (IPV) incident involving a shooting at a residence on McKenzie Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of this incident a 67-year-old Pembroke resident has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

·        Attempt to commit murder using a firearm

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice. He remains in custody with a future court date. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim as this is an IPV incident.

Repeat Offender Brenda Lee CROCKATT Arrested Again

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after a series of thefts were reported in Pembroke. 

The incidents took place between February 21-26, 2024, at various locations in the City of Pembroke. Items stolen include groceries, purses from shopping carts and vehicles.  

As a result, Brenda Lee CROCKATT, age 66 of Pembroke, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Theft under $5000 – five counts

·        Breach of probation

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 2, 2024.
