Anthony AGBAERU – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – An early morning traffic stop has resulted in Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charges for an Arnprior resident. 

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Cecelia Street in the City of Pembroke. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.   

As a result of this investigation 47-year-old Anthony AGBAERU has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 10, 2026.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2025 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 20, 2025, and will continue until January 1, 2026. During the fourth week of the campaign from December 11 to December 17, 2025, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 25 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.

A three-day driver’s license suspension was issued to a driver after a RIDE check in North Algona-Wilberforce Township on December 13, 2025. Beyond the RIDE checks, several other drivers were charged with impaired driving-related offences during the week. 

On December 14, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., police investigated an occupied vehicle parked at the Meath Hill boat launch adjacent to Highway 17 in the Township of Whitewater Region (WWR). A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 40-year-old Amanda CLOSTRE of Cobden has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

On December 14, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 41 in Bonnechere Valley Township. A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 43-year-old Lindsey PULLIN of Eganville has been charged with the following CC, Provincial Offences Act (POA), and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

·        Breach of POA probation – three counts

·        Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted limit

On December 14, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to single vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Josie Lane in Laurentian Hills. The involved SUV left the roadway and struck a guardrail, no injuries were reported. A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 60-year-old John COLLINS of Thunder Bay has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

On December 16, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 17 near Finnerty Road in WWR. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the detachment for testing.

As a result of this incident 28-year-old Benjamin LECUYER of Ottawa has been charged with the following CC, HTA, and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt excessive speed
  • Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
  • Drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit
  • Fail to have insurance card

On December 16, 2025, at 7:50 p.m., police observed an SUV strike a traffic light pole at the intersection of Petawawa Boulevard and Limestone Trail in Petawawa. The vehicle continued driving and was stopped at short distance away. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Test results were more than double the legal blood alcohol limit.

As a result of this incident 63-year-old Cheryl PENNELL of Petawawa has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

All accused individuals were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke in the New Year. The accused drivers also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

Jacob NORMANDEAU – Drunk Driving

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a single-vehicle collision that sent three people to hospital.

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, along with the Laurentian Valley Fire Department and Renfrew County Paramedics responded to a collision on White Water Road near Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township, where a car crashed into a rock cut.

There were seven people in the vehicle. Four, including the driver, were taken to hospital. Air Ornge later transferred two of the passengers to a regional trauma centre due to the extent of their injuries. Other passengers were not seriously hurt. Passengers ranged in age from 16 to 21.

The driver was assessed at hospital and then transported to the UOV Detachment.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Jacob NORMANDEAU, age 19 of Pembroke, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Impaired operation causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 13, 2026.

White Water Road remained closed overnight for the on-scene portion of the investigation.

Ryan VERCH – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2025 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 20, 2025, and will continue until January 1, 2026. During the third week of the campaign from December 4 to December 10, 2025, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 35 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.

During the RIDE checks drivers were found to be in full compliance with the law and no impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.

Despite the compliance at the RIDE checks, UOV OPP officers charged one driver with impaired driving-related offences during the week.

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police responded to an incident at a residence in Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township. An individual at the scene had been driving a side-by-side ATV. A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 31-year-old Ryan VERCH has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 5, 2026. The accused also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their ATV was towed and impounded for 14 days.

Paul BOYLE & Nicholas HOLT – Impaired Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2025 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 20, 2025, and will continue until January 1, 2026. During the first week of the campaign from November 20-26, 2025, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 35 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.

During the RIDE checks drivers were found to be in full compliance with the law and no impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.

Despite the compliance at the RIDE checks, UOV OPP officers charged two drivers with impaired driving-related offences during the week.

On November 21, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for speeding on B Line Road in Laurentian Valley Township. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 42-year-old Paul BOYLE of Brockville has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

·        Drive motor vehicle perform stunt – excessive speed

·        Fail to have insurance card

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 16, 2025. The accused also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days. 

On November 24, 2025, at approximately 12:45 a.m., members of the UOV OPP responded to a complaint of a parked vehicle blaring music on Wilson Avenue in the Town of Petawawa. The driver was arrested, and testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment. 

As a result of this incident 24-year-old Nicholas HOLT of Pembroke has been charged with the following CC, HTA and Cannabis Control Act (CCA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possess more than one licence
  • Have care and control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 29, 2025. The accused also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

Teen Robbery Gang Arrested – Abdullmoez BACKAH, Fidely KAPEND, Zion TAHIAMALA-ATKINSON & Abdul TSHIBUYI

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested five people following a break and enter into a business in the 800 block of Pembroke St. East in the City of Pembroke.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, just after 2:00 a.m., OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a local business. Prior to police arrival the suspects fled the scene. Shortly afterwards, the involved vehicle was located by the Renfrew OPP on Highway 17. It was stopped and five people in the vehicle fled on foot. The OPP Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team responded to conduct a search. All five individuals were located, arrested and transported to the detachment.

Abdullmoez BACKAH, 18 years old from Ottawa, Fidely KAPEND, 18 years old from Alfred-Plantagenet, Zion TAHIAMALA-ATKINSON, 19 years old from Leaminton, Abdul TSHIBUYI, 21 years old from Ottawa, and a youth who cannot be named have all been jointly charged with several counts that include:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts
  • Disguise with intent
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Break and enter a place to commit indictable offence
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Mischief over $5000

TAHIAMALA-ATKINSON has also been charged with fail to comply with release order.

The youth was also charged with fail to comply with a sentence.

All parties were remanded in custody following bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. They will have further court appearances at a later date.

As a result of the investigation police recovered over $20,000 worth of stolen fragrances.

Shot(s) Fired – Police Raid Residence, 3 Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested three people following an incident near the downtown area of Pembroke.

On October 10, 2025, just before 7:00 p.m., OPP officers responded to a report of a gunshot on Victoria St. in the City of Pembroke. Police contained the residence and due to seriousness police took appropriate safety measures. The homeowner was called out of the residence. Police then entered the residence and located three other individuals who were detained. No injuries were reported or observed.

Two of the individuals detained were arrested on outstanding warrants. A third person was arrested for failing to comply with a release order. The fourth party was interviewed and released unconditionally. The investigation is still ongoing.

One party was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Two others remain in custody. They will appear by video before a Justice of the Peace on October 11, 2025.

Kyle GAGNON Was Arrested Again – Details Released

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after a traffic complaint in the City of Pembroke.

On October 9, 2025, just after 6:30 p.m., OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Stuart St. in the City of Pembroke. Officers located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. The driver was transported to detachment for testing.

Kyle GAGNON, 42 years old, of Pembroke was charged with impaired operation – drug, two counts of fail to comply with probation, two counts of fail to comply with release order and one count of possession of a schedule I substance.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was held for bail and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 10, 2025.

18 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke.

On October 4, 2025, just before 10:00 p.m., OPP officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The vehicle was stopped in a parking lot in the downtown area of Pembroke. The driver was transported to detachment for testing

Benjamin MARTIN, 18 years old, of Petawawa was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 4, 2025.

Jasmine SHERBAN Arrested Following Collision

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after a collision on Highway 17.

On October 7, 2025, just before 10:00 p.m., OPP officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles near the intersection of Highway 17 and Sawmill Road. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. One driver was transported to detachment for testing

Jasmine SHERBAN, 40 years old, of Pembroke was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 4, 2025.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three drivers with impaired related charges within a span of four days.

On September 25, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., OPP responded to a noise complaint in the City of Pembroke. While police were investigating a vehicle was seen leaving the residence. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was later transported to the detachment for further testing.

Candise TODD, 47 years old, of Pembroke was charged with impaired operation.

Then on September 26, 2025, just after 11:00 p.m., OPP received multiple traffic complaints of a vehicle colliding with several guard rails on Highway 17 in the Town of Petawawa. The driver was not injured in the collision. They were then transported to detachment for testing.

Nathan BUTLER, 27 years old, from Chalk River was charged with impaired operation.

On September 28, 2025, just after 2:00 a.m., an OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Bridge St. in Bonnechere Valley Township. During the interaction roadside testing was conducted. The driver was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

Chad BISHOP, 34 years old, of Petawawa was charged with impaired operation.

Each of the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.

$50,000 Reward Could Be Yours: Do You Know What Happened to Brianna Traversey? #OPPAppeal

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A new $50,000 reward is being offered for information in the disappearance of a missing Ottawa Valley woman.

Brianna TRAVERSEY was 29 years old when she was reported missing in Pembroke. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating on Thursday, September 21, 2023, and officers conducted extensive interviews and multiple searches of the area. Last year, the OPP released a video appealing to the public and renewed the appeal this year on the second anniversary of her disappearance.

Though this remains a missing person investigation, foul play cannot be ruled out.

Brianna is described as:

  • Female
  • White
  • Would now be 31 years old
  • 5’8″ (173 cm)
  • 120 lbs (54 kg)
  • Shoulder length hair, possibly dyed brown or red
  • Several tattoos on hands, arms and legs, including a breast cancer ribbon tattoo on left shoulder and a Betty Boop tattoo on her right calf

Pascal GOSSELIN-PAQUET Was Arrested – Details Released

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired after a complaint at a local business.

On September 17, 2025, just before 11:30 p.m., OPP officers were called to a local business on Pembroke St. west in the City of Pembroke. Police attended and spoke to the person at their vehicle. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Pascal GOSSELIN-PAQUET, 38 years old, of Beauceville was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 20, 2025.

Nicholas DENMAN – Impaired Driving

(KILLALOE-HAGARTY-RICHARDS TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired after a single vehicle rollover.

On September 15, 2025, just after 6:30 p.m., OPP officers were advised of a vehicle in the ditch after it had rolled over on Round Lake Rd. in the Township of Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards. The lone person in the vehicle suffered very minor injuries and was not transported to a local hospital. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Nicholas DENMAN, 34 years old, of Pembroke was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 20, 2025.

Manhunt Over After Serious Sexual Assault

(RENFREW, ON) – An arrest has been made in a recent serious sexual assault in Renfrew.

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a woman reported that she had been held against her will and sexually assaulted. The woman also indicated that the male, who was known to her, was in possession of a handgun.

The incident prompted a massive search of the area by members of the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and the Tactics and Rescue Unit. A shelter in place was issued for the immediate area until officers determined that the male had fled.

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the 28-year-old male was located and arrested by Ottawa Police and was transported to the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. There he was officially charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Sexual assault
  • Forcible confinement
  • Overcoming resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
  • Intimidation
  • Intimidation – uses threats of violence
  • Mischief
  • Obstruct a peace officer
  • Fail to comply with a release order – two counts

The identity of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused remains in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled to continue in Pembroke on September 26, 2025.
