STONNER Facing Weapon Charges

(PARRY SOUNDON) – Police arrested and charged one person with firearms related offences after investigating a threats complaint.

On March 7, 2025, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threat’s complaint on Albert Street, Parry Sound.

During the investigation, one person was found to be carrying a handgun and was arrested by police.

Gregory STONNER, 51 years-of-age, from Parry Sound, was charged with, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and carrying concealed weapon.

The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 14, 2025, in Parry Sound.

Cory ASHAWASAGAI – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.

On February 12, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were on patrol in the Town of Parry Sound. Officers stopped a vehicle on James Street due to a licence plate violation and observed open alcohol in the vehicle.  

As a result of the investigation, Cory ASHAWASAGAI, 46 years-of-age of Henvey Inlet First Nation was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 18, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Hotel Disturbance Ends With Weapons Charges

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with weapon related offences.

On December 29, 2024, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a local hotel in the Town of Parry Sound. Upon police arrival one person fled on foot but was arrested shortly after.

As a result of the investigation, Carmen GUENETTE, 28-years-of-age of North Bay was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of break in instruments

The accused was held for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and is scheduled to appear on January 6, 2025.

Jeremy HOBOURN Was Arrested

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person in the Town of Parry Sound. Police located the person in a vehicle on Bowes Street. The vehicle was stopped, and officers spoke with the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Jeremy HOBOURN, 25 years-of-age of Parry Sound was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on January 30, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Erik REYNOLDS – Drunk Driving

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.

On December 30, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a dispute between two people in the Town of Parry Sound. Police located one person in a vehicle on Gibson Street in the Town of Parry Sound. The vehicle was stopped, and officers spoke with the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Erik REYNOLDS, 25 years-of-age of Moose Deer Point First Nation was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on January 30, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Guy BOILEAU Was Arrested

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.

On December 30, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were on patrol in the Town of Parry Sound and stopped a vehicle on Greenwood Crescent to check the sobriety of the driver.

As a result of the investigation, Guy BOILEAU, 64 years-of-age of Parry Sound was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on January 30, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Barrett WARDER – Impaired Driving

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving.

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Parry Sound Drive in the Town of Parry Sound. As a vehicle approached, and officers began an impaired driving investigation the driver fled the scene. Officers were able to identify, locate and arrested the driver.

Barrett WARDER, 38 years-of-age of Parry Sound Ontario was charged with:

  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 19, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS).

Daniel PLAATJES – Impaired Driving

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single vehicle collision in Parry Sound. 

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the West Parry Sound OPP, Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Parry Sound Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Parry Sound Drive in the Town of Parry Sound. The driver was transported to a Parry Sound area hospital due to injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel PLAATJES, 45 years-of-age, of Innisfil Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 19th, 2024.

Paul BEGGS Charged

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a multi vehicle collision in downtown Parry Sound.

On October 23, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the West Parry Sound OPP along with Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Parry Sound Fire Department responded to a collision involving five motor vehicles on Seguin Street in the Town of Parry Sound. Several drivers were transported to a Parry Sound area hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation Paul BEGGS, 72 years old from Carling Township was charged for Follow too closely contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Meth Bust – Ronny PRADO LASSO Arrested

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with drug related offences.

On August 13, 2024, members of the North East Region CSCU assisted by OPP West Parry Sound Detachment arrested one person on Great North Road in the Town of Parry Sound after a drug investigation.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $12,000 and over $13,000 of Canadian Currency.

As a result of the investigation, Ronny PRADO LASSO, 23-years-of-age of Etobicoke was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid – 2 counts.
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000.00
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine

The accused was held for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and is schedules to appear on September 5, 2024.

$23,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences.

On June 12, 2024, members of the North East Region CSCU assisted by OPP West Parry Sound Detachment executed a drug warrant at a residence on Park Lane in the Town of Parry Sound.

A search of the residence, officers seized over $1000.00 in Canadian currency and a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine and Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $23,000.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Sealy, 36-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

Nicole Chevrette, 27-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused were held for Bail Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and are scheduled to appear on June 13, 2024.

Cocaine Bust – PASTOOR, PENDER & KIMEWON

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three people with drug related offences after a traffic stop on Hillcrest Avenue in Parry Sound.

On April 2, 2024, just before 11:00 p.m. officers stopped the vehicle for a sobriety check and observed open alcohol in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating suspected cocaine and MDMA with an estimated street value of over $5,000 as well as over $1100 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation Jacob PASTOOR 29-year-old from Seguin was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Having care and control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

Ashley PENDER, 34-years-old from Seguin was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug

Both accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on May 30, 2024.

Savana KIMEWON, 22-years-old from Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 3, 2024.

3 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three people with drug related offences.

On March 28, 2024, members of the North East Region CSCU assisted by OPP West Parry Sound Detachment and OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) executed a drug warrant at a residence on Church Street in the Town of Parry Sound.

A search of the residence, officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine, oxycodone, and methadone with an estimated street value of $10,500.

As a result of the investigation, Bobie-Jo Emerson, 41-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid – 2 counts.
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

Douglas Harvey, 63-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  •  Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid – 2 counts.
  •  Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  •  Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  •  Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine

Logan O’Rourke, 28-years-of-age of Mactier was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid – 2 counts.
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine

Bobie-Jo Emerson and Logan O’Rourke were held for Bail Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and are scheduled to appear on April 2, 2024.

Douglas Harvey was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on May 2, 2024.

Alexander YOUMANS Wanted By Police

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – An arrest warrant has been issued in relation to an ongoing shooting investigation at a hotel in Parry Sound.

On June 15, 2023, shortly after 1:30 a.m., the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual in hospital with injuries sustained following an incident at a local hotel.

As a result of the investigation, Shacquan MORRIS, 27 years old from Etobicoke, and Alexander LOGUE, 20 years old from South River, have been arrested and charged in connection with this incident.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Alexander YOUMANS, 19 years old from Henvey Inlet First Nation, who is described as male, approximately 6’0″ tall (183 cm) and approximately 135 lbs (61 kg), with black hair and brown eyes. It is believed that he now has short hair.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
