Drug & Weapon Bust – Josh PERKINS

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orton resident with multiple offences following a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cash, weapons, including an imitation firearm, and cocaine.

On January 20, 2026, just before 10:00 p.m., members of the Dufferin OPP B Platoon received information from a concerned resident regarding a possible drug transaction in the area of Fourth Avenue in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the vehicle while responding to the call, conducted a traffic stop, and spoke with the driver.

Following consultation with the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), officers continued the investigation, which resulted in the following:

Josh PERKINS, a 23-year-old male from Orton, has been charged with:

  • Obstruct plate
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking x 3
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition x 2

Items Seized:

·      26.7 grams of cocaine

·      One bag containing a substance believed to be opium

·      One half-filled bottle of codeine

·      Two spring-loaded knives (prohibited devices)

·      One imitation firearm

·      One baseball bat

·      One vehicle seized

·      Cash seized as proceeds of crime

·      One cellular phone

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

2 Children Sent To Hospital Following Collision

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) respond to a two-motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 26.

On September 21, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP, alongside local emergency services, responded to a report of a two-motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Wellington Road 26 and Erin Garafraxa Townline within Centre Wellington Township, involving a pick-up truck and a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Two children within the SUV were taken to hospital as a precaution, but no injuries were reported at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old of Orton, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph, at a later date.
