Jakob MACDONALD-ROSS – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after responding to a 9‑1‑1 report of a suspected impaired driver in Cochrane.

On Saturday February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver in Cochrane.

Police located the vehicle on Eleventh Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver, officers determined that alcohol consumption was a factor. The individual was arrested and transported to the Cochrane OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jakob MACDONALD-ROSS, 26 years of age, of Cochrane, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·        Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 10, 2026, in Cochrane. Additionally, the driver was issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Drug Bust – LAKE & SAVOY

(CENTRE HASTINGS, ON) – Two people face charges after a drug seizure in Madoc.

On Tuesday February 10, 2026, The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Durham Street. The OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and members of the Central Hastings OPP assisted with the investigation and warrant.

Two people were arrested without incident and officers seized over 3.5 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and over five grams suspected psilocybin. They also seized a prohibited knife and items typically associated with drug trafficking. 

David LAKE, age 45, and Sarah SAVOY, age 42, both of Centre Hastings have each been charged with:

• Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

• Possession of Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking

• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

LAKE is additionally charged with failure to comply with an undertaking.

SAVOY is additionally charged with two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 4, 2026.

Fatal Collision In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is deceased following a collision involving a lone snowmobile in the Municipality of North Perth.

On February 9, 2026, shortly after 11:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Department responded to a collision involving a snowmobile that had collided with a tree on the Milverton Snowmobile Club trail near Perth Line 72.

The 19-year-old lone driver of the snowmobile suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The trail was closed while OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team assisted Perth County OPP with the investigation.

All resources have cleared the area and the trail has been reopened.

This investigation remains ongoing.

Robert IWANOW – Assault With Weapon

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) –  On Monday, February 9th, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers of the Huntsville OPP Detachment received a 911 weapons call at a residence on Main Street West, in the Town of Huntsville.

 The investigation revealed the accused attended the victims his apartment and a dispute happened between them. The accused allegedly brandished both a handgun and an iron bar. There were no injuries reported. The accused was taken into custody without incident. 

As a result of the investigation Robert IWANOW, 39 years old of Huntsville is charged with:

*        Assault with a Weapon 

*        Assault with a Weapon    

*        Failure to Comply with Undertaking

*        Pointing a Firearm 

*        Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The accused remains in custody and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice  on February 10, 2026.

The Huntsville OPP want to advise this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

Edward SANDS Was Arrested

(WALPOLE ISLAND FIRST NATION, ON) – An investigation by the Walpole Island Police Service (WIPS) has resulted in an arrest on St. Anne Island.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the WIPS were on general patrol when they observed what appeared to be tire impressions crossing the snowy ice surface of the Johnson Channel to St. Anne Island. Due to concerns for the wellbeing of those involved, officers initiated an investigation.

With the assistance of Walpole Island Resource Protection and the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers located a single motor vehicle that had entered the ditch on St. Anne Island. No one was observed in or around the vehicle at the time.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., an individual was located walking along the shoreline of St. Anne Island. Further investigation determined that the individual was wanted on an outstanding warrant with the Lambton OPP.

As a result of the investigation, Edward SANDS, a 38-year-old individual from Walpole Island First Nation, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (12 counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Jason EVERETS Was Arrested Again

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing charges following an investigation into a suspected break-and-enter in Simcoe.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximately 1:42 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspected break-and-enter at a residence on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.

Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the residence, during which they located an individual inside the home. The investigation determined that damage had been caused to the interior of the residence, and the individual was taken into custody without incident. No other persons were present inside the residence at the time.

As a result, 53-year-old Jason EVERETS of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Unlawfully in dwelling house,
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Drug Bust – Michael MENZIES

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A person is facing drug-related charges after police seized a quantity of suspected drugs during a traffic stop.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 17 near Michon Road in the Baldwin Township. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was found to be driving 99 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. An investigation was initiated, where police discovered the driver was a suspended driver. The driver was subsequently arrested.

Additionally, police seized amounts of suspected cocaine and oxycodone, with a total estimated value of $119,400.

The driver, Michael MENZIES, 31-years-old from Thunder Bay, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid) – two counts
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

Break & Enter – MARTENS & GOGO

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two individuals were arrested after breaking into an unoccupied residence in Norwich Township.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 5:50 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a property on Beaconsfield Road for the report of two individuals breaking into an unoccupied residence.

Two individuals were arrested at the scene.

Robert GOGO, a 51-year-old resident of St. Thomas has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Theft Under $5000

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, in Woodstock, on May 5, 2026.

Isaack MARTENS, a 30-year-old resident of Bayham has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

The accused is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

16 Year Old Airlifted Following Collision

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person is injured following a snowmobile accident in Ponsonby.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local paramedic services, responded to the report of a single motorized snow vehicle collision on private property in Ponsonby. A 16-year-old snowmobile rider was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma centre with major, non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wellington County OPP would like to take this opportunity to remind snowmobilers to make safety their top priority this season. Excessive speed, loss of control, alcohol impairment and inattentive riding are the leading contributing factors to fatal snowmobile collisions in Ontario.

A little preparation before hitting the trails goes a long way in keeping your ride safe:

  • Wear a helmet and other safety gear
  • Don’t ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Check current trail status on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs website.
  • Check the weather forecast.
  • Let someone know about your riding plans.

Jason FORSYTH – Dangerous Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – A driver has been charged following a traffic stop in Lakeshore.

At approximately 10:24 p.m. on February 09, 2026, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on County Rd. 42 and Lakeshore Rd.111, in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

Jason FORSYTH, 46 years-old of Amherstburg was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on March 25, 2026, to answer to the charges.

A 90 day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was inititiated for the driver as per statute.

Blake RUSSELL – Impaired Driving

(BRANT, ON) – A driver is facing impaired charges after police were called to a single motor vehicle collision.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 9:18 p.m., Brant County OPP were called to 403 Highway West east of Muir Road to investigate a single motor vehicle collision in the County of Brant.

Police charged Blake RUSSELL 20-years-old, of Mississauga, Ontario with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Brantford on February 27th, 2026.

The OPP continues to prioritize road safety through proactive enforcement and public education. Impaired driving-whether by alcohol or drugs-remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways.

Haris ALI & Cassundra BURCHARDT Were Arrested

(WASAGA BEACH, CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers with impaired-related offences over the weekend.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, shortly after 12:00 p.m., An officer located a vehicle in the ditch on Centreline Road between Concession 9 Sunnidale and 15th-16th Sideroad, Nottawasaga. Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of that investigation, Haris ALI, a 39-year-old of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The above accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to answer to the charges.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, shortly after 2:05 a.m., officers responded to a call on Season Crescent in the Town of Wasaga Beach. The caller had reported that a friend was attempting to leave the residence in a vehicle and was impaired.

As a result of that investigation, Cassundra BURCHARDT, a 30-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The above accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to answer to the charges.

Thana LINTVELT – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Fergus driver is facing impaired driving charges.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver. Police located a damaged vehicle on Water Street in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Thana LINTVELT, a 57-year-old from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on March 20, 2026.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On February 9th, 2025 at approximately 4:59 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting speed enforcement along Highway 11-17 near McKenzie Station Road, within the Municipality of Shuniah.

After observing a vehicle travelling 131 km/hr in a posted 90 km/hr, a traffic stop was initiated. Throughout the investigation, a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) demand was made where the driver performed poorly. The driver was then arrested for performing poorly on the SFST, outstanding warrants & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Michelle Lynn KING, 48, of Thunder Bay, Ontario was charged with:

Criminal Code:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

Provincial Offences:

  • Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit;

The accused has been held in-custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 10th, 2026.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following separate impaired driving incidents.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Queensway West in Simcoe.

Officers located the vehicle and engaged with the driver, who was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 34-year-old Robert SHARPE of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order,
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Later that day, at approximately 7:51 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck on Schafer Side Road, just outside of Delhi.

The investigation determined the vehicle was travelling along Schafer Side Road when it left the roadway and entered a ditch. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the vehicle at the scene and, following an interaction with the driver, took the individual into custody without incident.

As a result, 55-year-old Waldemar KUZNIAR of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
