19 Year Old Arrested In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) – An individual from Shallow Lake, Ontario is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a single motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Grey Road 18, in the Municipality of Meaford.

On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 18 near sideroad 15, in the Municipality of Meaford. The driver had crashed into the ditch. There were no injuries.

Ryan DEVRIES, 19-years-old, of Shallow Lake, is charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while Impaired – 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 4, 2025.

One Dead In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON)– On Wednesday, July,30, 2025, at approximately 1:18 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Paramedic Services and Meaford Fire Department, responded to a report of an individual found unresponsive in the water at a waterfront property on Cedar Avenue, along Georgian Bay in the Municipality of Meaford.

Bystanders were able to recover the individual and initiated CPR until paramedics arrived. Despite resuscitation efforts, the 55-year-old from Ottawa was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Grey Bruce OPP would like to thank all members of the public and emergency responders who provided assistance.

Robert JUNIPER Was Arrested Again

(MEAFORD, ON)– A Port Elgin resident is charged following a weapons call in Meaford on July 22, 2025.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at approximately 3:43 p.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a male in possession of a suspected firearm at the Meaford Harbour.

Officers located the individual near a children’s recreational area. The individual complied with police demands and was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, the item in question was determined to be a replica airsoft handgun.

Robert JUNIPER 32-year-old from Port Elgin has been charged with the following offences:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking – CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments – CC
  • Being intoxicated in a public place – LLCA
  • Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place – LLCA

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 23, 2025.

Police Attempt To Enforce On Private Property – Cruiser Heavily Damaged #FilmThePolice #FTP

(MEAFORD, ON) – A 69-year-old male has been arrested and charged following a dangerous incident involving a tractor and a police vehicle in the Municipality of Meaford.

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, police observed a male known to police operating a tractor on private property. When officers attempted to engage with the accused, he fled on the tractor, striking the police cruiser in the process. The accused was eventually taken into custody. The officer did not sustain any injury. The cruiser sustained significant damage.

Robert HEASMAN, 69-year-old, of Meaford, is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on June 30, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

2 From Owen Sound Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) – Two people have been charged in connection with a break-in at a business in Meaford.

On Friday June 6th, 2025, at approximately 12:47 a.m., members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an alarm call at a business located on Highway 6-10.

Uniform members, with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit, took two individuals into custody without incident.

Garrett DONOVAN-COTURE, 35-years-old from Owen Sound, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Failure to Comply with Release Order

·      Break and Enter

·      Possession of Break In Instruments

·      Mischief Under $5,000

D’angelo MCWATCH, 28-years-old from Owen Sound, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Failure to Comply with Prohibition Order (x2)

·      Break and Enter a Place

·      Mischief Under $5,000

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 10, 2025.

17 Year Old Stunt Driver Charged After Incident At School

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a local Meaford resident with stunt driving.

On April 25, 2025, at approximately 3:09 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce OPP were conducting school patrol at the Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford.

Officers observed a motor vehicle spinning tires while departing the parking lot in front of numerous children and adults, which led to a traffic stop being initiated on the roadway.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Meaford is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle- perform stunt

Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Perform stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court- Owen Sound, on May 26, 2025.

Police Warn: When We Say Lock Your Doors, Lock Your F***ing Doors!

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were on scene of an incident in the Municipality of Meaford.

The Grey Bruce OPP received information from the Owen Sound Police Service regarding an incident that began in the City of Owen Sound. Officers from the Grey Bruce OPP along with the West Region Emergency Response Team and West Region Canine Unit searched for the individual in the area of Grey Road 11 and Grey Road 15 and between Highway 26 and Story Book Park Road.

The OPP will not be releasing further information since the incident is an ongoing Owen Sound Police investigation.

The OPP would like to remind residents that when they advise you to lock your doors and vehicles, it’s because someone is currently at large. The police want to prevent that individual from gaining access to your home or stealing your vehicle. As a general safety measure, it’s always a good habit to keep your residence and vehicle doors locked-even when you’re at home.

FRASER – Break & Enter, Theft

(MEAFORD, ON) – On January 26, 2025, at approximately 11:13 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break & enter at the LCBO along Nelson Street West, Municipality of Meaford.

Police attended and observed the glass in front entrance to be smashed. OPP Canine and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended to assist.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher FRASER, 41-years-old of Meaford, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break & Enter, CC 348(1)(b)
  • Theft under $5000, CC 334(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Owen Sound Court of Justice on February 27, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Contractor Fraud – Christopher Brown Arrested – Police Fear More Victims

(MEAFORD, ON) – One individual is facing fraud charges after they received money for work and never completed the job.

On August 18, 2024, the victim contracted a contractor to complete work at their property. The victim provided a deposit for materials and the contractor never returned to complete the work and refused to refund the money.

Christopher Brown, 43 years-old of Georgian Bluffs is charged with fraud under $5000.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 27, 2025.

Do You Recognize This Theft Suspect?

(MEAFORD, ON) – On January 8, 2025, the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a theft complaint at the LCBO in Meaford.

It is reported that an unknown individual entered the business and stole over $1000 worth of alcohol. The suspect was observed on video surveillance and is described as, male, 5’9″ tall, wearing red puma shoes, jeans, red buffalo sabres toque, grey jacket, black hoody, a triangle type tattoo on the left side of his neck and driving a Dodge Charger with plate DCCD100. It is believed that this individual is a suspect in other LCBO thefts around the province.

Fatal Collision Closes Hwy 6&10

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Intertownship Fire Department and Grey County Paramedic Services are on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision.

Highway 6 & 10 is closed between Story Book Park Road and Grey Road 18 in the Municipality of Meaford. Please avoid the area while the Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate along with the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.

School Bus Involved In Collision

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a Meaford resident for crashing into a school bus.

On November 18, 2024, at 8:16 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP were patrolling Highway 26 near Clearview Crescent in the Municipality when they came upon a collision involving a school bus and motor vehicle. The bus was stopped for another bus that had their lights and stop arm out when a motor vehicle crashed into the rear of it. There were no injuries resulting from the incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old from Meaford was changed under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving.

The Grey Bruce OPP want to remind drivers of the following:

·      Watch for flashing amber lights indicating the bus will stop to pick up or drop off students.

  • Slow down and prepare to stop when the bus activates its alternately flashing red lights.
  • Do not move forward until the red lights have stopped flashing or the bus begins to move.

$95,000 In Silver Allegedly Stolen

(MEAFORD, ON) – On October 23, 2024, at 1:37 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a report of a theft from a residence in the Municipality of Meaford.

As a result of the investigation, the Grey Bruce OPP learned that over the span of two years, approximately $95,992.00 of silver bars were stolen from the victims residence.

Whitney Boyd – Theft

(MEAFORD, ON) – On October 6, 2024, at 3:22 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a business on Highway 26 in the Municipality to a report of a theft in progress.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly stolen items from the business.

As a result, Whitney Boyd, 28-years-old from Meaford was charged with:

·      Theft under $5000 – shoplifting

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 7, 2024.

Jeffrey Alexander Facing Numerous Charges

(MEAFORD, ON) – One person is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a driver that could not maintain their lane. 

On August 3, 2024, at 1:07 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a traffic complaint advising that a pickup truck was unable to maintain its lane on Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford. The Grey Bruce OPP located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. As the police officer was speaking to the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The driver refused the approved screening device (ASD).

As a result, Jeffrey Alexander, 54-years-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Insecure load
  • Driver fail to surrender license

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Owen Sound on August 22, 2024.

Existing legislation allows an officer to make a demand for a roadside breath sample when they have reasonable suspicion. The legislation gives officers who have an Approved Screening Device (ASD) the authority to make a demand for a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver to determine whether a person has alcohol in their body. It is mandatory for drivers to comply with this demand, or they can be charged with failing or refusing to provide a breath sample.
