5 Arrested In Drug Bust

(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) – Five people face charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized drugs from a residence in Loyalist Township.

On September 12, 2024, the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County detachment, executed a search warrant at an address on Main Street in Odessa.

A quantity of suspected cocaine was seized, along with paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, and multiple cell phones.

A quantity of suspected fentanyl was later found concealed on one of the accused after being transported to detachment.

Joshua GJELSTAD, age 35, of Napanee, Amanda HOLLAND, age 44, of Odessa, James MCMAHON, age 63, of Napanee, Shayna HIDDLESTON, age 40, of Centre Hastings and Corean EATMON, age 53, of Tyendinaga First Nation were arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

GJELSTAD was additionally charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to comply with probation order

HOLLAND was additionally charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin) – two counts.

These two accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The remaining three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.

Marc-Andre PILON Arrested After Drone Drop

(LOYALIST TWP., ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has made an arrest after an attempt to deliver contraband to a Kingston-area correctional facility.

Street Crime Unit members, as well as members of the Lennox and Addington County OPP Detachment, located a suspicious vehicle near Millhaven Institution in Loyalist Township just before 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Officials with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) had located and seized a package dropped from a drone within the institution grounds, containing lighters, matches, a knife, razor blades, suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, tobacco and cannabis in various forms.

OPP members located a suspicious vehicle in the area and arrested one person. A search of the vehicle located suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and various forms of cannabis, as well as numerous SIM cards and digital scales.

As a result of the investigation, Marc-Andre PILON, age 32 of Thurso, Quebec has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Corrections and Conditional Release Act and Cannabis Act with:

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief endangering life
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Delivers contraband to an inmate
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on September 12, 2024.

The investigation is continuing.

William GRIFFITH – Drunk Driving


(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) 
– The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving related offences.

On July 24, 2024, just after 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound in Loyalist Township.

Officers attended and spoke with the drivers of the vehicles. One driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

No injuries were sustained.

As a result, William GRIFFITH, age 33, of Grande Prairie, Alberta was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 20, 2024.
