MACDONALD Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing charges after traffic complaint on Highway 401 Eastbound.

On March 8, 2025, at 4:50 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Elgin County, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located and stopped near Highbury Avenue in the City of London.

As a result, Kate MACDONALD, a 20-year-old of Windsor, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 10, 2025.

Jordan BARATTA – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after traffic stop.

On February 7, 2025, at 8:38 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle travelling on Wonderland Road South in City of London.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Jordan BARATTA, a 41-year-old of London has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 17, 2025.

Kennedy DUPLESSIS Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after traffic stop.

On January 26, 2025, at 6:38 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Exeter Road in the City of London, observed a suspicious vehicle.  

A traffic stop was initiated on the Exeter Road off ramp from Highway 401 Westbound.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Kennedy DUPLESSIS, a 26-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 4, 2025.

Expired Plate Leads To Charges

(LONDON, ON) – Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system assists officer in stopping and charging a driver and passenger from London.

On January 5, 2025, at 9:21 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Dundas Street at Crumlin Road in the City of London, was alerted by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of an expired licence plate.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver was a prohibited driver and was placed under arrest.

As a result, Kevin SILLERS, a 46-year-old of London, has been charged under Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 10, 2025, to speak to the charges. 

The passenger and owner of the vehicle, a 45-year-old of London, was charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with, Permit motor vehicle to be operated without insurance.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and was impounded for 45-days.

The In Car Camera and ALPR have been operating in Middlesex County OPP vehicles since March 13, 2023. Middlesex OPP officers continue to see drivers operating vehicles that do not have valid, registered licence plates, are currently driving unlicenced, while under suspension or prohibited.

Garrett MORROW Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Traffic complaint on Highway 402 leads to refusal charge.

On January 4, 2025, at 4:57 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Highway 402 in the City of London, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located on Longwoods Road in Middlesex Centre, by a member of the Oneida Nation Police, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest.

As a result, Garrett MORROW, a 32-year-old of Wallaceburg, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 5, 2025.

Silina TRIPP – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged after two-vehicle collision in on Highway 401 in London.

On November 16, 2024, at 11:28 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London for report of a collision between a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a transport truck.

One involved driver was placed under arrest and transported to the London OPP detachment.

As a result, Silina TRIPP, a 33-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 23, 2025.

There were no injuries reported.

David MARTINEZ TRUJILLO – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Kitchener driver charged with impaired after traffic complaint on Highway 401.

On November 9, 2024, at 7:29 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located stopped on the shoulder of the highway at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, David MARTINEZ TRUJILLO, a 45-year-old of Kitchener, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 15, 2025.

Marckly MANIGAT – Impaired Driving

(LONDON, ON) – North York driver facing impaired charge as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 401.

On November 8, 2024, at 1:12 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol in the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, observed a suspicious vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex County OPP detachment.

As a result, Marckly MANIGAT, a 38-year-old of North York, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice January 8, 2025, to speak to the charges.

Chelsey LAYTON – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after failing roadside demand.

On October 20, 2024, at 2:18 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Oxford Street West, in the City of London, observed a suspicious vehicle at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Chelsey LAYTON, a 33-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 27, 2024.

Mahmoud ELIAN – Forcible Confinement

(LONDON, ON) – Middlesex County OPP officers have arrested a Hamilton driver in relation to an incident that occurred on Highway 401 and ended in the City of London.

On October 21, 2024, at 10:24 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 for the report of a disturbance from within a vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Adelaide and Dundas Street in the City of London

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.

Charged with the following Criminal Code offences is 49-year-old, Mahmoud ELIAN, of Hamilton:

  • Forcible Confinement
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in London at a later date.

Mohammad NOFAL Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Driver from London facing multiple charges after traffic stop at OPP RIDE Program.

On October 20, 2024, at 12:46 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were performing a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program at Wellington Road and Highway 401 in the City of London.

A vehicle entered the program at which time a traffic stop was initiated.   

The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest and was found to be in possession of illicit drugs, suspected to be cocaine.

As a result, Mohammad NOFAL, a 21-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Cannabis Control Act, with:

·      Possession of an identity document

·      Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 20, 2023.

Julia HUGHSON – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after members of the public report a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 401.

On September 28, 2024, at 1:29 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, for reports of a vehicle in the ditch near Highway 402.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest.

As a result, Julia HUGHSON, a 23-year-old of Chatham, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 24, 2024.

Police Close “Illegal” Cannabis Stores

(LONDON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has shutdown two illegal cannabis storefronts operating in London, and seized illegal cannabis valued at more than $350,000.

The OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), in partnership with the Middlesex OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), began an investigation in June 2024 into the sale of illegal cannabis from a storefront located on Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (FN). This investigation revealed two other illegal cannabis storefronts operating under the name “Spirit River Cannabis” located in London. These storefronts were not authorized by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to sell cannabis or cannabis products.

On August 20, 2024, three search warrants were executed in London and Chippewas of the Thames FN by members from:

  • PJFCET
  • Middlesex CSCU
  • OPP-led Contraband Tobacco Enforcement Team
  • OPP Provincial Liaison Team
  • OPP Emergency Response Team
  • OPP-led Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit 

Assistance was also provided by the London Police Service (LPS), LPS Emergency Response Unit and the Chippewas of the Thames FN Police. 

Illegal cannabis was removed from the storefront located on Chippewas of the Thames FN. The two “Spirit River Cannabis” storefronts in London that have been shutdown will be held under Interim Closure Orders as per section 18(1) of the Cannabis Control Act (CCA).

Persons with interest in any of the locations (including owners) who wish to enter these premises may apply to the Superior Court of Justice to get permission under section 18(4) of the CCA. Anyone who enters buildings that are subject to interim closure without authorization from the Superior Court of Justice may be arrested and charged with breaking and entering, under section 348(1) of the Criminal Code (CC). 

As a result of the search warrants, the following items were seized:

  • More than $350,000 in illegal cannabis and illegal cannabis products, including edibles, vapes, shatter, topicals and beverages
  • More than $9,000 in contraband tobacco
  • More than $2,500 in psilocybin
  • Approximately $11,000 in Canadian currency
  • An extraction press valued at approximately $4,000

Five individuals were charged with 21 offences under the Cannabis Act, the CC and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Please refer to the attached Addendum of Charged Persons for a full list. The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in London on October 18, 2024.

Michael MCGARROCH – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge as a result of OPP RIDE Program.

On September 20, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were engaged in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Wellington Road in the City of London.

Dana HEARD Facing Numerous Charges

(LONDON, ON) – Two vehicle collision on Highway 402 leads to canine track and charges for driver.

On September 5, 2024, at 5:26 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to the Eastbound lanes of Highway 402 at Colonel Talbot Road in the City of London for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a vehicle travelling Eastbound was struck from behind by another Eastbound vehicle, which lost control and entered the ditch.

The driver fled the scene on foot, at which time OPP Canine and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called to assist.

Investigation revealed the licence plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Elgin County.

The driver was located and transported to hospital as a precaution due to minor injuries sustained in the collision.

The other driver was not injured.

Dana HEARD, a 49-year-old of West Lorne, has been charged under the Criminal Code, the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Dangerous operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Fail to remain

·      Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was held for bail.
