Christopher TAVARES Arrested Again After Serious Of Break & Enters

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- Members of theEssex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have made an arrest after investigating a series of reported break and enters at bunkhouses in the Municipality of Leamington and the Town of Kingsville.

The individual has been arrested and charged in relation to 12 Break and Enters reported between April 4 and June 25, 2025. 

On June 25, 2025, at approximately 2:40 p.m., CSCU members were actively investigating the Break and Enters in Leamington when they observed the individual attempting to flee the scene of the latest Break and Enter.

As a result, Christopher TAVARES, 35 years-of of Leamington has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply – Probation (12 Counts)
  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence (12 Counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (Four Counts)
  • Use of Credit Card (Three counts)
  • Possession of break in instruments

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

These incidents remain under investigation.

Missing Person Found Deceased

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- On June 13, 2025, members of the Leamington OPP received a report that Vanessa, 32-years-of-age, is missing from the Municipality of Leamington.

On June 17, 2025, the missing person was located deceased in the 100 block of Erie Street South in the Municipality of Leamington. 

The investigation remains under investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner. 

Police are advising there is no threat to public safety. 

The OPP would like to thank the public and media for their assistance during this investigation.

Billy WIEBE Was Arrested

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- On June 4, 2025, at 4:45 p.m., members of the Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment were dispatched to a single vehicle in the ditch on Mersea Road 2 at Carr Avenue in the Municipality of Leamington.

Officers arrived on scene and upon speaking to the driver and passenger, determined there were no injuries. Officers determined that the driver had previously consumed alcohol. 

As a result, Billy WIEBE, a 25-year-old of Kingsville, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Prohibited – Legal Restriction from any other Act of Parliament or Provincial Law

·        Novice Driver B.A.C. above zero

·        Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·        Possess more than one licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on June 20, 2025.

Cocaine Bust – Name Released

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- Police have charged an individual following the execution of a warrant in Leamington.

On May 9, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) Unit, OPP K9 Unit and Leamington OPP uniform members, executed a search warrant at an address on Clark Street West in the Municipality of Leamington.

During the search, officers seized a quantity of illicit drugs suspected to be cocaine and Canadian currency. Total value of items and cash seized is estimated to be over $19,000.

As a result of the investigation, Ezechiel THOMPSON, 22-years-of-age of Leamington was arrested and charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada

The accused has been held pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

The matter remains under investigation.

James SABA – Drunk Driving

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – One person has been charged following a traffic stop in Leamington.

On May 7, 2025, at approximately 12:42 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to check on the well being of a driver on Erie Street South in the Municipality of Leamington.

James SABA, 26-years-old of Leamington, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with cannabis readily available

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on May 23, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Douglas SCOTT Facing Numerous Charges

(LEAMINGTON/KINGSVILLE, ON) – Essex County OPP has charged an individual after a lengthy break and enter investigation in Kingsville and Leamington.

Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) investigated eighteen “smash and grab” break and enters that occurred at various businesses between August 29, 2024, to January 13, 2025, in the Towns of Leamington and Kingsville.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas SCOTT a 38-year-old male of Wheatley, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts)
  • Break & Enter commit Theft (sixteen counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (sixteen counts)
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments (eight counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (fourteen counts)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 27, 2025.

Diego AVILA MARTINEZ Was Arrested

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired driving after a traffic complaint in Leamington.

On April 16, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a traffic complaint on Highway #77 in the Town of Leamington.

Diego AVILA MARTINEZ, 26-years-old of Kingsville, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on May 6, 2025, to speak to the charges.

Another Pedestrian Killed

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – A pedestrian is deceased after being struck by a vehicle in the Municipality of Leamington.

On April 16, 2025, at approximately 2:10 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Leamington Fire Department and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Erie Street South in Leamington.

The pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team are actively conducting an investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance.

Myles ILLINGWORTH, 33-years-old of Essex, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive – hand held communication device
  • Failure to surrender insurance card
  • Windshield obstructed

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 16, 2025, to answer to the charges.

28 Year Old Arrested Following Collision

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – One person has been charged following a collision in Leamington.

On March 24, 2025, at approximately 1:35 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road 33 South and Mersea Road 2 in the Municipality of Leamington. 

Santos MARTINEZ LOPEZ, 28-years-old of Leamington, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 11, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Kevin GOODINGS Wanted For Murder

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – An arrest warrant has been issued in connection with a recent homicide in the Municipality of Leamington.

On March 12, 2025, shortly after 2:30 p.m., members of the Essex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services responded to a well-being check at a residence on Sherk Street, where 83-year-old Anita GOODINGS, of Leamington, was found deceased.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant has been issued for Kevin GOODINGS, 61 years old of no fixed address, who is wanted for second degree murder. He is believed to be dangerous and a risk to public safety. If seen, call 9-1-1 and do not approach.

Kevin GOODINGS is described as a white male, approximately 5’11” (180 cm) and 180 lbs (82 kg) with a medium build, green eyes, white hair, white goatee and several tattoos: Ying yang on right forearm, panther on left forearm, Chinese writing on neck, and lightning bolt on right hand.

The investigation is continuing by the Essex County OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

83 Year Old Victim Of Homicide

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – A recent sudden death in the Municipality of Leamington is now being investigated as a homicide.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 2:36 p.m., members of the Essex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services responded to a well-being check at a residence on Sherk Street, where one person was found deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Anita GOODINGS, 83 years old of Leamington.

A postmortem was conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and determined the death was a result of a homicide.

Police have a limited description of a person of interest in connection with this investigation. They are described as a white male with a muscular build. Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident. Members of the community can expect to see an increased police presence as the investigation continues.

The investigation is being conducted by the Essex County OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Sudden Death Investigation

(MUNICIPALITY OF LEAMINGTON, ON) – Members of the Essex County OPP investigating a sudden death in the Municipality of Leamington.

On March 12, 2025, at 2:36 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a well-being check at an address on Sherk Street in the Municipality of Leamington, where an individual was located deceased.

Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP in the area as the investigation continues. Further updates will be provided when they become available.
