22 Year Old Arrested After Rolling Over!

 (LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired after a single vehicle rollover.

On September 9, 2025, just after 10:00 p.m., OPP officers were dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch on Stafford Second line in Laurentian Valley Township. The lone person in the vehicle suffered no injuries. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Adam KLAWITTER, 22 years old, of Laurentian Valley Township was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 6, 2025.

Stolen Vehicle Vs Home Collision – Suspects At Large

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON) – The resident of a home in Laurentian Valley Township been injured when his home was struck by a stolen car.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the incident on Drive-In Road in Laurentian Valley Township.

A car had left the roadway, became airborne and struck a house. A 78-year-old male in the home was transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics. Injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The car, which had earlier been reported stolen, was still running and was partially embedded in the side of the house. The driver and a passenger had fled on foot.

Additional officers and a Canine Unit responded to the scene and conducted an intensive search of the area but could not locate the individuals.

Mackenzie VENTURA – Impaired Operation

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a stop in a parking lot.

On July 19, 2025, just before 7:30 p.m., OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver at a local business. Police attended the 1100 block of Pembroke St. E in Laurentian Valley Township. Police located the vehicle and driver. The driver was transported to the detachment for testing.

Mackenzie VENTURA, 30 years old, of Nepean was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 18, 2025.

Quinton RACINE Was Arrested Again

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY, ON) – A City of Pembroke resident is facing numerous charges after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a stopped vehicle on Highway 17.

Shortly before 2:00a.m. on July 12, 2025, members of the UOV OPP observed a stopped vehicle on the shoulder of the road with its driver side door open in the live lane of traffic on Highway 17. As part of the investigation a standardized field sobriety test was conducted, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.  

As a result of the incident 26-year-old Quinton RACINE has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA), and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs (CC)

·      Fail to comply with probation order (CC)

·      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (CC)

·      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (LLCA)

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle (HTA)

·      Driving while under suspension (HTA)

·      Fail to surrender insurance card (CAIA)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on July 12, 2025, and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Jean-Michel LAVERGNE – Drunk Driving

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY, ON) – A Township of Laurentian Valley resident is facing a Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charge after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision at a local restaurant.

In the early morning hours of July 8, 2025, members of the UOV OPP responded to a single vehicle collision after it was reported that a vehicle had driven into a restaurant in the Township of Laurentian Valley. The driver was arrested by police at the scene and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of the incident 39-year-old Jean-Michel LAVERGNE has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 3 days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 29, 2025.

William PERKINS – Impaired Operation

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired after a collision. 

On April 19, 2025, just before 2:00 a.m., OPP received information regarding a collision on Barron Canyon Road in in Laurentian Valley Twp. Police located the driver who was injured. The driver and lone occupant of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital.

William PERKINS, 29 years old, of Petawawa was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 20, 2025.

Missing Person Found Deceased

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment is currently investigating the discovery of human remains in the Township of Laurentian Valley.

On April 26, 2025, shortly before 3:30 p.m., the OPP was notified when human remains were discovered in the area of Paul Martin Drive by a local resident.

The remains have been identified as Diego SARRIA of Ottawa. He was reported missing in January 2023 and was 54 at the time of his disappearance. A postmortem examination has not determined the exact cause of death and further forensic testing is being conducted.

Foul play is not suspected, and investigators believe there is no threat to public safety.

The UOV OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation, with support from the Forensic Identification Services unit, Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Marty NEWTON Was Arrested Following Collision

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A single-vehicle collision in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV) has resulted in charges being laid against the driver. 

On April 28, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision at a residence in TLV. Investigation found the vehicle was being driven on the property and collided with a garage. No injuries were reported. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

    As a result of this incident 67-year-old Marty NEWTON of TLV is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 20, 2025.

Another Deceased Found After Structure Fire

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene at a structure fire in the Township of Laurentian Valley.

On April 3, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., OPP and Laurentian Valley Fire were called to a fire on Morrison Drive. The second individual that was previously unaccounted for has been located inside the structure, deceased. The identities of both deceased persons have not been confirmed.

The investigation is still ongoing under the direction of the UOV Crime Unit, with assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).

Kyle MARTIN Arrested Following Hit & Run

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A single-vehicle collision on Fibreboard Drive in Laurentian Valley Township has resulted in multiple charges being laid against the driver. 

The collision was reported to members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at approximately 6:20 a.m. on March 23, 2025. Officers found that the vehicle had been abandoned in the ditch. The driver, who was not injured, was located by police a short time later. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.  

    As a result of this incident 34-year-old Kyle MARTIN of Pembroke is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to remain
  • Novice driver BAC above zero
  • Class G1 licence holder- unaccompanied by a qualified driver

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15, 2025.

Patricia GOULET-COUSINEAU Was Arrested Again

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – An area resident is facing several charges after an impaired driving investigation in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV).    

On February 26, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 in TLV. Officers located the vehicle on B Line Road and a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted. Further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment.   

As a result of this investigation the driver, 21-year-old Patricia GOULET-COUSINEAU of no fixed address, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Fail to comply with probation order

·        Fail to comply with release order

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 27, 2025.

School Bus Driver Charged Following Collision

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A school bus driver is facing a charge under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a two-vehicle collision involving a school bus and an SUV. 

The UOV OPP were called to the collision at the intersection of Forest Lea Road and Doran Road at approximately 7:40 a.m. on February 7, 2025. Investigation found that the school bus failed to yield at the intersection and collided with an SUV.

The bus driver, a 37-year-old from Pembroke, has been charged with failing to yield under the HTA. There were no reported injuries from the occupants of either vehicle.

Taylor BAHM Was Arrested Again

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A collision on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township has resulted in multiple charges being laid by police.   

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the collision involving a stolen pickup truck and a minivan at approximately 6:30 p.m. on November 7, 2024. Investigation found the stolen truck was westbound on Highway 17 when it struck another westbound vehicle, left the roadway and struck a rock cut on Highway 17 just east of Whitewater Road. There were no serious injuries as a result of the collision. 

The pickup truck was reported stolen that same day from an address in Whitewater Region. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized.  

As a result of this incident 25-year-old Taylor BAHM of Pembroke is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – two counts
  • Failure to comply with probation order – two counts
  • Dangerous operation
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 12, 2024.

Codie DUFAULT – Assault With Weapon, Theft

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – An individual has been arrested by members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in connection with a shoplifting incident that turned violent. 

On September 8, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident in progress at a retail store in Laurentian Valley Township. Investigation found that an individual left the store with a shopping cart full of unpaid items. Private citizens confronted the individual and both citizens were sprayed with an irritant. The individual fled on foot and the citizens were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A search of the area for the person of interest by responding officers, OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), and an OPP Canine Unit was unsuccessful.

On September 13, 2024, police arrested and charged Codie DUFAULT, age 29 of Whitewater Region, with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Assault with a weapon – two counts

·        Breach of recognizance – two counts

·        Theft under $5000

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 20, 2024.

Terrence NICHOLSON Was Arrested

(LAURENTIAN HILLS, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in connection with stolen vehicle occurrences in Laurentian Hills. 

On August 4, 2024, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Forestry Road involving a pickup truck that left the roadway, crashed, and was on fire. The driver did not remain at the scene. It was discovered the vehicle had been stolen the previous night from a residence in Laurentian Hills.   

Also on August 4, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police were called to an address in Laurentian Hills for a theft of a pickup truck in progress which was interrupted by the vehicle owner. The accused fled the area on an ATV which was later determined to have been stolen from a residence in Laurentian Hills. The ATV was later recovered.        

On August 6, 2024, police arrested and charged 44-year-old Terrence NICHOLSON of Laurentian Hills with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – two counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 12, 2024.
