John TESSIER – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Lakeshore detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with impaired after responding to a collision.

On November 26, 2024, at 11:44 p.m., members of the Lakeshore OPP, were dispatched to Elmstead Road in the Municipality of Lakeshore for a report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local detachment.

As a result, John TESSIER, a 35-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 13, 2024.

There were no injuries reported.

David GRAINGER Arrested For Sexual Assault

(LAKESHORE, ON) – In June 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex County Detachment Crime Unit began an investigation from a report of sexual assaults that occurred between 2003 and 2010.

On July 9, 2024, one individual was taken into custody and charged without incident.

On November 5, 2024, a second victim had come forward.

As a result of the investigation, on November 25, 2024, 79-year-old David GRAINGER of Lakeshore has been charged with:

·        Sexual Interference S.151 CC,

·        Invitation to Sexual Touching S.152 CC,

·        Sexual assault S.271 CC

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on December 18, 2024.

Members of the Essex County OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate as it is believed that there may be more victims. If anyone has any information, they are being asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

Stolen Vehicles Recovered – Anthony Myles GARDINER Arrested Again

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On October 28, 2024, members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle.

Officers GPS tracked the stolen vehicle to a property in the 1900 block of Lakeshore Road 211, Municipality of Lakeshore. Officers located the stolen vehicle and other vehicles on the property.

With the assistance of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) a search of the property was completed, investigators located and seized 11 stolen vehicles, Three motorcycles, two enclosed trailers, four utility trailers, Canadian currency and a loaded handgun. The estimated total value of recovered items is over $300,000.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony Myles GARDINER, 23 years of age from Windsor was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (Four Counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada (Nine Counts)
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition (Two Counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (Two Counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (Four Counts)

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor.

Arlene MARENTETTE – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On October 19, 2024, at approximately 2:53 a.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received a report of a single vehicle collision in the 1300 block of Tecumseh Road, Stoney Point, Municipality of Lakeshore.

As a result of the investigation, Arlene MARENTETTE, 43-year-old of Lakeshore, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on October 31, 2024, to speak to the charges.

Gabriel PICCOLO – Assault

(LAKESHORE, ON) – An individual has been charged in connection with an assault investigation.

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lakeshore Detachment received a report of an assault that occurred in the 400 block of Notre Dame Street, in the community of Belle River, Municipality of Lakeshore.

Investigation determined that on October 12, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., an altercation occurred between individuals and one male was physically assaulted. The victim sustained injuries that required treatment at a local hospital.

As a result of the investigation, on October 20, 2024, Gabriel PICCOLO, 21-year-old male of Windsor was arrested and charged with:

·        Assault Causing Bodily Harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on November 28, 2024.

Joseph THOMAS – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after member of the public reports a traffic complaint.

On October 7, 2024, at 2:07 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Oakwood Ave. in the Municipality of Lakeshore

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Joseph THOMAS, a 45-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 1, 2024.

Paul SABUTSCH Was Arrested

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lakeshore Detachment, has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., emergency services including Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision on Puce Road between Walls Road and Highway 401, Municipality of Lakeshore.

A pickup truck with a lone driver and a sedan with two occupants, all were transported to a local hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, Paul SABUTSCH, a 32-year-old from Lakeshore was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S. 320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(a) CC

A 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor October 18, 2024.

Erick Ibrahim KAMBULA Was Arrested

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lakeshore Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On September 28, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a member of the Lakeshore OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on Manning Road near Amy Croft Drive, Municipality of Lakeshore after observing a Highway Traffic Act violation.

As a result of the investigation, Erick Ibrahim KAMBULA, a 29-year-old from Windsor has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S. 320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle S. 62(1) HTA

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor S.42(1)(a) LLA

·        Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero S.44.1(3) HTA

A 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on October 9, 2024.

Meth Bust – Melinda EMBERLEY

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On September 18, 2024, members of the Essex County and Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU), executed a search warrant at a residence on Heritage Garden Crecent, Municipality of Lakeshore.

CSCU members recovered a quantity of illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency.

As a result, Melinda EMBERLEY, a 62-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine S.5(2) CDSA

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 21, 2024.

The investigation is continuing.

Dana FOUNTAIN-SMITH Arrested Following Collision

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On August 12, 2024, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 77 at County Road 8, Municipality of Lakeshore.

Officers arrived on scene along with Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to find a vehicle had struck a residence.

As a result of the collision, 4 occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries including a 7-year-old child. No one in the residence sustained any injuries.

On Friday September 13, 2024, Dana FOUNTAIN -SMITH, 35 years-of-age of London, Ontario was arrested in Peel Region and charged with the following offences.

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S.320.14(1)(a) CC,

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b) CC

·        Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm S.320.12(2) CC

·        Driving while under suspension S.53(1) HTA

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor.

Fatal Collision

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Acyclist has died as a result of being struck by a vehicle on Morris Road in Lakeshore Township.

On September 3, 2024, at 7:11 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Paramedic Service and local Fire, were dispatched to Morris Road between Richardson Side Road and Lee Ave in Lakeshore Township for the report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist.

The cyclist was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

The roadway remained closed for approximately six hours but has since opened.

Tyler James TIMOTHY – Hit & Run, Impaired, Etc. Etc.

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Essex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual following a multi vehicle collision on Highway 401.

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 10:22 a.m., members of the Essex County OPP responded to a report of a multi vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Gracey Side Road and Comber Side Road in the Municipality of Lakeshore. 

As officers arrived on scene witnesses had reported two occupants from one of the involved vehicles had fled the scene on foot. Officers located and arrested two individuals on Lakeshore Road 305.

The investigation determined that one vehicle was operating in an erratic manner and struck several other vehicles in the westbound lanes.

As a result, 20-year-old Tyler James TIMOTHY of Lakeshore has been charged with the following offences:

·        Operation While Impaired S.320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand S.320.15(1) CC

·        Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code S.320.18(1)(a) CC

·        Failure to stop after accident S.320.16(1) CC

·        Dangerous operation S.320.13(1) CC

·        Driving while under suspension S.53(1) HTA

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor for a bail hearing.

The second individual was released unconditionally.

Only minor injuries that were treated at the scene were reported.

Gabrielle Elaina PEREZ Arrested For Fraud

(LAKESHORE, ON) – One individual has been charged following a fraud investigation in Lakeshore.

In February 2024, a fraud was reported to the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

The investigation began after police received a complaint from an individual who had been defrauded of approximately $18,500.

The victim informed police they had entered into a relationship engaging in intimate activities. The accused then claimed to be pregnant and demanded money for medical expenses.

On June 6, 2024, investigators arrested Gabrielle Elaina PEREZ, 26-years-old of Windsor, and was charged with:

·        Fraud over $5000 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Hardeep GILL – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – AN individual was arrested for Impaired driving after Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision.

On August 6, 2024, at 12:45 a.m., the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report for a collision in the parking lot of the Belle River Marina on Lake Street, in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

Police attended and located a driver who struck a parked security vehicle. Officers believed the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Hardeep GILL, a 39-year-old, from Lasalle was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol  

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on August 21, 2024.

Joseph NAGY – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE TOWNSHIP) – One person is charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Tecumseh.

On July 8, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., members of the Essex detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a vehicle that struck the guardrail near a train crossing on Tecumseh Road and Bedell Street.

Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services transported the lone occupant of the vehicle to hospital in Windsor with non-life-threatening injuries. Tecumseh Fire and Rescue also assisted with the response.

Joseph NAGY, 57-years-old of Tecumseh is charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Adult Operation while impaired-alcohol or drugs [(CC 320.14 (1)(a)]
  • Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) [CC 320.14 (1)(b)]

The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 25, 2024.

All rail traffic was halted at the scene to facilitate the investigation and removal of the disabled vehicle. The line was reopened to rail traffic just before 3 a.m.
