$42K Seized After Drug-Impaired Driver Arrested

A 33-year-old male from Lindsay, ON is in police custody after a report of a suspected impaired driver on October 6, 2025.

At 1:23pm the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to a call for a male observed in the driver’s seat of a vehicle which was parked, who appeared to be in an out of consciousness.  While on the phone with the call taker the vehicle left the parking lot travelling on Lindsay Street North, in Lindsay.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Wellington Street.  The driver was investigated and placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired.  A search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of a backpack containing various drugs and a large amount of Canadian currency. 

The accused was returned to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service where police seized 5 grams of crack cocaine, 64 grams of cocaine, 34 grams of fentanyl and $42,215 in Canadian currency.  A portion of the seized currency was also found to be counterfeit.  The total street value of the seized drugs was approximately $13,300.

Jake Dakota Breen was charged with:

·        Driving While Under Suspension

·        Operation While Impaired – drug

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crack Cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·        Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000

·        Possession of Counterfeit Money

·        Breach of Recognizance

 

He was held in custody and brought before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay for a show cause bail hearing.

Kawartha Lakes Police Continue To Protect Criminals – 41 Year Old Arrested, Name Withheld

On Saturday September 13, 2025, the Kawartha Lakes Police were called to attend a Kent Street West business in Lindsay, ON for a report of a known shoplifter inside the store which the owner’s requested to be removed and trespassed from the premises.

Officers arrived and located the male who was found to have active warrants for his arrest for failing to attend court.  He taken into custody, and a search incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of a replica handgun and other stolen property.

As a result the 41-year-old Lindsay man was charged with:

·       Theft Under $5000

·       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·       Carry Concealed Prohibited Device or Ammunition

He was held in custody by police for a bail hearing and later released with a future court date.

Wanted Armed Repeat Offender Injured During 3am Home Invasion : Hero Defends Family/Property Then Charged By Kawartha Lakes Police #StandYourGround #FTP #FilmThePolice

On August 18th at approximately 3:20am the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to an apartment on Kent Street for a report of an altercation between two males. 

Officers arrived on scene and learned that the resident of the apartment had woke up to find another male (intruder) inside his apartment.  There was an altercation inside the apartment and the intruder received serious life- threatening injuries as a result of that altercation. 

The intruder was transported to Ross Memorial Hospital and later air lifted to a Toronto hospital. 

Police have determined that there is no risk to public safety and as a result of the investigation:

A 44-year-old Lindsay man (Home owner) was charged with:

·         Aggravated Assault

·         Assault with a weapon

 

He was released with a future court date.

A 41-year-old Lindsay man (intruder) was already wanted by police at the time of the incident for un-related offences and has since been additionally charged with:

·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·         Break, Enter and Theft

·         Mischief Under $5,000

·         Fail to Comply Probation

 

When released from hospital he will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
