The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a gaming console and shoes were stolen from a man’s bedroom while he was in the shower.

On Tuesday police received a report of a theft which occurred on the weekend. A resident of Kortright Road West reported he was having a shower in the basement at approximately 12 a.m. Sunday when he heard footsteps upstairs and believed it was his roommates returning home.

When he went upstairs he noticed his PlayStation and UGG-brand shoes were missing from his bedroom.

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a young boy was approached by a man who tried to get him into his vehicle outside an arena this week.

Approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday the 11-year-old was sitting alone outside the West End Community Centre when a pickup truck stopped nearby. The driver exited the truck and approached the boy. He claimed to know the boy’s mother and said she had asked him to pick the boy up because he was at the wrong arena.

The boy refused to go with the man and he left the area. He was described as a white man with a pale face, approximately 60 years, 5’9” with an average build and red or brown hair, a beard and freckles. He was wearing a maroon T-shirt and blue shorts and driving a white Chevrolet pickup with rust around the rear wheels and possibly a dent on the passenger door.

On September 27^th, 2025, at 4:27am, an adult male staff member of an establishment located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph, contacted the Guelph Police Service for assistance.

Investigation revealed that the staff member asked an adult male patron to leave the establishment. Prior to leaving, the male waved a knife at the staff member, and threatened to put a bullet in his head and stab him.

On October 6^th, at 8:51pm, police located the male in the downtown core, and he was subsequently arrested.

A 45-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Assault With A Weapon
-Uttering Threats

He will appear in court on November 18^th.

Trafficking and Weapons Charges

Two adult males face drug and weapons charges after they were observed breaking into a vehicle in the downtown core of the City of Guelph on the morning of October 3^rd, 2025.

At 10:25am, a witness reported seeing two males removing items from a vehicle. The two fled but were located by police a short time later attempting to hide behind a hydro transformer.

Both were arrested and during a search officers recovered quantities of suspected fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $4,700. Officers also seized digital scales, empty baggies, cash, and a collapsible baton.

A 24-year-old Guelph male and 23-year-old Guelph male are jointly charged with possessing fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. The younger male is also charged with possessing meth for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of probation.

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 4th. The older male was subsequently released and will appear in court on November 4^th. The younger male was held in custody and will appear in court on October 6^th.

Pepper Spray Discharged Outside Bar

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after pepper spray was discharged outside a downtown bar early on October 4^th, 2025.

Just before 2am, police received a report of a disturbance in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. Several parties engaged in a physical altercation inside and were removed. Outside, one of the parties discharged pepper spray into the air, causing several people to feel the effects.

The suspect was described as a white male, more than six feet tall with blonde hair in a mushroom-style cut and wearing a black shirt with white stripe on the collar.

Public Report Leads To Impaired Driving Arrest

On October 4^th, 2025, at 9pm, a concerned citizen contacted the Guelph Police Service regarding an impaired adult male driving a vehicle, entering the City of Guelph on York Road.

At 9:12pm, police located the vehicle driving near the intersection of Paisley Road and Edinburgh Road North, and a traffic stop was initiated.

The accused subsequently failed an Approved Screening Device roadside breath test and was arrested.

A 36-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days,

He will appear in court on October 17^th.

Multiple Driving Complaints & Motor Vehicle Collisions

Over the past 72 hours the Guelph Police Service received reports of 28 driving complaints and 24 motor vehicle collisions occurring throughout the City of Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to slow down and follow the rules of the road to help ensure everyone arrives to their destination safely.

A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after two other men had their hands cut during a disturbance downtown Wednesday night.

Approximately 11:20 p.m. three men were involved in a verbal dispute on Wyndham Street North. Two of them men walked away to disengage, but the third man followed them to the intersection of Macdonell Street where he removed a folding knife from his pocket, unfolded it and brandished it towards the other two.

The victims rushed the man in an attempt to defend themselves. During the ensuing struggle both victims sustained minor cuts to their hands. The suspect fled on foot but was located and arrested a short distance away. A small amount of crystal methamphetamine was located during a search.

A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and possessing a controlled substance. He will appear in court November 25.

Two arrested for stealing SUV

Two Guelph men have been arrested after a joyride in a stolen SUV late last month.

Shortly after 1 a.m. September 22 the two were walking in the area of Willow Road and Dawson Road. One walked towards a commercial plaza while the other went into an apartment building parking lot where he entered and started a Toyota Highlander. The owner of the SUV had reported his key missing a day earlier.

The driver attended the plaza, where the second man got into the vehicle and they left the area. The Highlander was located undamaged outside of Guelph several days later.

Both suspects were identified during the investigation. On Wednesday they were separately located and arrested.

A 30-year-old Guelph man and 42-year-old Guelph man are each charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 and occupying a stolen vehicle. The younger man is also charged with breaching a probation order and driving while suspended. Both were released with November court dates.

Residents are reminded to be cautious when offered investment opportunities after a Guelph woman lost $90,000 US in a cryptocurrency scam.

On Wednesday the victim reported she initially saw a social media ad which falsely claimed Ontario Premier Doug Ford was launching a new cryptocurrency initiative to help Canadians. Believing the ad to be legitimate, she made an initial investment of $350.

She was contacted by individuals claiming to represent an investment firm and encouraged to make further investments, eventually totaling $90,000 US. When the victim attempted to withdraw her funds she was asked to pay thousands in fees.

Residents are reminded to be very cautious when considering supposed online opportunities and conduct independent research before participating. Cryptocurrency scams are very difficult to investigate and the odds of recovering losses are almost nil.

Anyone who suspects they have been the victim of cybercrime or fraud should report it to their local police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s online reporting system or by phone at 1-888-495-8501. Even if no financial loss has been sustained, interactions can still be reported to the CAFC.

Teen arrested for spitting on officer

A teenaged girl was arrested Tuesday night for spitting on a police officer during a disturbance in the east end.

Approximately 9 p.m. Guelph Bylaw Enforcement officers attended the area of Auden Road and Eastview Road for a report of several people playing loud music outside. Guelph Police were asked to attend after one of the youths threatened Bylaw officers with a glass bottle.

Police officers arrived and observed a girl hiding behind a vehicle. When they approached she swore at them and spat at one officer, striking his arm.

A 15-year-old Guelph girl was arrested for assaulting a police officer. Investigation revealed she was also wanted for assault on an unrelated matter. She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Damage to downtown church

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after damage was done to a downtown church.

Just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, the church’s caretaker called police to report the damage. Metal railings had been damaged, with one pulled completely off its mount and another badly bent. As well a thick glass pane had been struck with something and will likely need to be replaced. The damage estimate is not known.

The damage was done sometime between Saturday and Monday.

Brand-new e-bike stolen from garage

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a brand-new e-bike was stolen from the garage of a north-end home.

On Friday, a resident near Speedvale Avenue West and Edinburgh Road North reported his detached garage was twice entered overnight. An orange Slane Santiago e-bike purchased 11 days earlier was stolen, as well as a laptop and bicycle accessories with a total value of nearly $3,900.

The suspect was caught on security video. He was described as a white male, 6’2” with a thin build and short brown hair and wearing a black sweater, black shorts with red boxers underneath, black shoes and a maroon backpack with fluorescent stripes on the pocket.

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three vehicles were reported stolen Monday. Two of them have since been recovered.

Approximately 8:25 a.m. police were called to a business near Woolwich Street and Woodlawn Road West. A Guelph man had parked his grey 2019 Ford F150 and returned 45 minutes later to find the truck missing. The keys had been left inside.

Approximately 10:30 a.m. a resident near Edinburgh Road South and Youngman Drive reported his 2014 Hyundai Accent stolen overnight from the street in front of his house. Just before 5 p.m. the car was located at an address on Speedvale Avenue East. A male was caught on security video parking the car and later placing some personal items inside.

At 5 p.m. police received a call from a business near Woodlawn Road West and Elmira Road North. An employee reported earlier in the day they had noticed a 2021 Volvo truck missing from the lot. Security video showed a black SUV entering the lot at 7:33 a.m.

A suspect exited the SUV and entered the Volvo and both were driven out of the lot. Staff were able to track the truck via GPS to an address in Cambridge, where it was recovered without any visible damage.

Also Monday, police in Halton Region recovered a 2024 Toyota Highlander which had been reported stolen Sunday evening from a parking lot near Gordon Street and Clair Road West. The vehicle had sustained significant interior damage.

All of the thefts remain under investigation.

The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Please report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles, especially during overnight hours.

A Guelph man faces assault and robbery charges after another man had his vehicle and phone stolen over an outstanding debt.

Approximately 7:40 p.m. June 3 an officer patrolling near Speedvale Avenue East and Delhi Street was waved down by a man reporting he was robbed. He said he went downtown to pick someone up when another man – who is known to him – got into the vehicle and demanded payment of a debt.

They drove to the area of that intersection where the other man removed the car keys and the victim’s phone and fled. A short time later the suspect returned to the area and took the vehicle, which was located by police in a nearby parking lot.

The suspect was seen entering a nearby apartment building but was not located. On Monday night he was arrested by police in another jurisdiction and returned to Guelph.

A 57-year-old Guelph man is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000 and nine counts of driving while prohibited. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a break-in Friday afternoon at a home in the Exhibition Park area.

Approximately 4:30 p.m. police were called to an address near Kathleen Street and London Road West. The homeowner returned after being out for a couple of hours and discovered a rear window broken. A quantity of jewelry was stolen.

Toyota Highlander stolen

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a Toyota Highlander was stolen Sunday evening from a south-end parking lot.

A Guelph man called police approximately 10:20 p.m. He reported he parked his black 2024 Highlander in a parking lot at Gordon Street and Clair Road West at 7 p.m. When he came back three hours later it was missing.

Impaired charge after traffic stop

A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving after a traffic stop Sunday evening.

Just after 8 p.m. police received information about someone possibly driving while impaired. The vehicle was located in the west end and pulled over. Officers detected a strong odour of burned cannabis inside the vehicle and could see used and unused cannabis cigarettes inside.

The driver performed poorly on a roadside sobriety test. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where an officer trained in drug recognition concluded his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by a drug.

A 51-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and driving with cannabis readily available. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.

A Guelph man is charged with breaching court orders after he was observed setting a fire outside a north-end business.

Approximately 8:30 a.m. September 12, emergency services responded to a plaza at Woolwich Street and Woodlawn Road East. A witness said he saw a man near the dumpsters and when he walked away the witness observed smoke and metre-high flames.

Further investigation showed a man on security video lighting a cigarette and then kneeling down next to the dumpsters. A short time later he walks away and flames can be seen.

The suspect was identified and it was determined he is on bail with a condition not to possess a lighter or other device to produce a flame.

A 27-year-old Guelph man is charged with failing to comply with a release order and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court October 2.

A Guelph man faces robbery, weapons and mischief charges after several incidents early Friday.

Approximately 2:20 a.m. police were called about a man walking in the street near Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East carrying a shovel. The man struck three passing vehicles with the shovel, causing damage to each of them.

More than 20 minutes later, the same man entered a business near Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road. He tried unsuccessfully to buy cigarettes before threatening staff and eventually leaving with stolen products.

As officers were in the area searching for the suspect, police received a report of a man inside a business at Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North. After another unsuccessful attempt to buy items, he threatened staff while attempting to steal beer.

He was located in the area by officers a few minutes later and arrested.

A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of mischief under $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breach of probation and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
