Michael POZZEBON Was Arrested

(GOULAIS RIVER, ON) – One individual is facing a criminal charge after failing to comply with their court-ordered conditions.

On April 5, 2025, at approximately 4:24 p.m., the Sault Ste. Marie detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a family dispute on Thielman Road in Goulais River. Investigation revealed an individual attended the residence of family members, while on conditions not to do so. 

As a result, Michael POZZEBON, 47 years-of-age, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with one count of Breach of Recognizance.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 19, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie.

Nicholas ROMANO Was Arrested

(GOULAIS RIVER, ON)– Dog off a leash and the canine owner causing a disturbance at a local beach north of Sault Ste Marie.

On August 2, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to complaint of a possible intoxicated individual and their off-leash dog who were causing a disturbance at a local beach on Harmony Beach Road in Goulais River.

OPP were advised that the dog owner and dog had left the beach area in a white pick-up truck. Police later observed the southbound pick-up truck on Highway 17 passing vehicles at a high rate of speed and driving dangerously. The driver attempted to evade police and a short time later officers located the pick-up truck in a driveway at a residence in the 500 block of Moss Road in Sault Ste Marie. 

While police were speaking to the driver, the accused became confrontational with officers and a struggle ensued. Once the driver was arrested the accused was transported to Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment for processing.

As a result, Nicholas ROMANO, 32-years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Fail to stop for police

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on September 23, 2024.

Jason HAMPLEMAN – Threats

(GOULAIS RIVER, ON)– Tenant threatens another tenant with baseball bat.

On July 29, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threat’s complaint on Robertson Road in the Town of Goulais River.

Investigation determined there have been ongoing issues with a certain tenant and the complainant who both reside at the same apartment building on Robertson Road. On July 27, 2024, the complainant was threatened by the accused with a baseball bat. Video footage of the incident was provided to police.      

As a result, Jason HAMPLEMAN, 31 years-of-age from Goulais River was charged with:  Uttering threats-causing death or bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie September 23, 2024.

Joseph REVILLE Was Arrested

(GOUALIS RIVER, ON) – A traffic stop in Goulais River has resulted in impaired driving charges for one individual. On April 13, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was conducting general patrol on Highway 17 near Pine Shores Road, when officers observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and failing to maintain its lane.     

A traffic stop was conducted, where investigation determined the vehicle driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. A search of the vehicle located both sealed and open containers of alcohol. As a result, Joseph REVILLE, 29 years-of-age, of Sault Ste. Marie was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding – 1-49 km/hr over posted limit
  • Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, 2024 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
