Exeter Assault – One Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On Monday, October 6th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault at an address on Main Street South in the Town of Exeter, Municipality of South Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed an assault on another individual.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

Jordan WOODS, 29 years-of-age from no fixed address has been charged with:

–      Assault.

The accused was processed, and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on December 15, 2025.

Exeter Thief Arrested After Foot Chase

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an incident at a retail store on Thames Road East in the Town of Exeter, Municipality of South Huron. 

On Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, just before 4:00 p.m., Huron OPP officers were contacted about an individual who reportedly stole items from a store and was still at the location. Police subsequently located the suspect, who attempted to run from police. Officers caught the suspect after a brief foot chase. The suspect resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed by the officers. The stolen items were located with the suspect, who refused to identify themself but was later identified by investigators.

Trent TAYLOR, 37 years-of-age of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Resist Peace Officer,

–      Obstruct Peace Officer.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 3rd, 2025.

EXETER: Armed Duo Nabbed in Stolen Truck Break-In – Rifle & Replica Handgun Seized #OPP

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals following a break and enter to a retail business in the Municipality of South Huron on September 26th, 2025.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, OPP were contacted about suspicious activity inside a locked compound at a business on Main Street South in Exeter. Officers arrived on scene and located a rental truck that had been backed into the property. Police then observed a suspect flee on foot upon seeing officers. The rental truck was determined to be stolen from London, and a rifle and replica handgun were located in the truck.

Officers from the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and OPP West Region K-9 were deployed to the scene. The K-9 track successfully located two suspects in the vicinity, one of which was in possession of a replica handgun. Both suspects were arrested and charged with multiple criminal offences as follows:

Kyle POISSON, 21-years-of-age from Acton has been charged with:

–      Break and Enter,

–      Possession of Break-in Instruments,

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,

–      Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,

–      Carrying Concealed Weapon,

–      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

–      Disguise with Intent,

–      Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm,

–      Resist Peace Officer,

–      Fail to Comply with Release Order – (two counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing, where they were remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

David PROUSE, 59-years-of-age from London has been charged with:

–      Break and Enter,

–      Possession of Break-in Instruments,

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,

–      Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,

–      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

–      Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm,

–      Resist Peace Officer,

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order – (three counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing, where they were remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Exeter Drug Bust, Two Arrested

(EXETER, ON) – Two individuals are facing several Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) charges after a drug trafficking investigation in the Town of Exeter.

In June of 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) in London began an investigation into two individuals believed to be trafficking illegal substances in the Town of Exeter and the surrounding Huron County area. On June 25, 2024, the investigative team executed a search warrant in Exeter with assistance from the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit and the Huron County OPP Detachment.

As a result of the search warrant, police seized the following:

  • Approximately 255 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Approximately 33 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 26 suboxone tablets
  • Five morphine tablets
  • 42 unknown tablets
  • A quantity of a suspected cutting agent
  • 19 rounds of shotgun shells
  • Two digital scales
  • $1,280 CAD
  • Two cell phones

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $13,700.

Carly JOHNS, age 29 of Exeter, has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code and CDSA:

  • Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession – buprenorphine
  • Possession – morphine

Travis DAVIS, age 35 of Exeter has been charged with the following offences contrary to the CDSA:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession – buprenorphine
  • Possession – morphine

The accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on a later date.
