$1,000,000 Fraud – Eghosa IYAMU & Gerardo GENTILE

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals following a long‑term fraud investigation.

In August 2022, Northumberland OPP received a complaint reporting that over $1 million CAD had been lost in a fraud in which the victim believed they were investing in a legitimate business.

The complainant advised that multiple transactions had occurred dating back to 2018, and that an in‑person meeting related to the alleged investment took place outside of Canada.

Following over a three‑year investigation by members of the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, two individuals were arrested earlier this month.

Eghosa IYAMU (51) from Etobicoke, has been charged with:

–          Fraud over $5,000

–          Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Gerardo GENTILE (63) from Bradford-West Gwillimbury, has been charged with:

–          Fraud over $5,000

–          Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in March 2026.

3 More Impaired Drivers

(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO, ON) (NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three more impaired drivers in three separate occurrences this weekend after conducting R.I.D.E programs and responding to a motor vehicle collision.

On February 8th, 2026, shortly after 4:30 p.m., police were conducting a R.I.D.E program on County Road 13 in Adjala-Tosorontio Township when a driver at the R.I.D.E was suspected of being impaired. An impaired investigation began and the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

On February 9th, 2026, shortly before 12:30 a.m. the Nottawasaga OPP received a call for service reporting that a south bound vehicle on Sideroad 10 in New Tecumseth had ended up in the ditch, and the driver had walked away from the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested for impaired operation.

On February 9th, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., police were conducting a R.I.D.E program on Sideroad 10 in New Tecumseth when a driver at the R.I.D.E was asked to pull over to the side of the road. The driver began to continue driving through the R.I.D.E. The driver was stopped and was suspected of being impaired. An impaired investigation began and the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigations, the first driver, Kenneth BALL, a 40-year-old of Etobicoke has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The driver of the second investigation, Jeffrey DA SILVA, a 39-year-old of New Tecumseth has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The driver of the third investigation, Daniel BEAUCHEMIN, a 39-year-old of New Tecumseth has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

• Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

• Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

• Disobey officer directing traffic

• Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

All three accused parties had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days, had their vehicles impounded for 7 days and were released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges.

6 Arrested In Arson Investigation

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed 6 search warrants in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto and Tottenham resulting in the arrest of six individuals. The investigation began in the fall of 2024 after multiple unoccupied homes in new subdivisions in Adjala-Tosorontio were set on fire.

On December 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., officers executed several search warrants at residences across the region. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation led by members of the Nottawasaga Detachment Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Caledon Detachment Major Crime Unit, Central Region’s Regional Support Team, the Highway Safety Division’s Toronto and 407 Detachments as well as OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).

As a result of the investigation, six individuals were arrested:

  • Wisam Fareed Anton DIBO, 32 years old, of Etobicoke
  • Rafid BAQDR, 28 years old, of Toronto
  • Yokhanna BUTRUS, 27 years old, of Etobicoke
  • Allen YOUSIF, 28 years old, of Mississauga
  • Napleon UOAIL, 27 years old, of Etobicoke
  • Liyon Nazar SITRAK, 21 years old, of Etobicoke

The accused individuals have all been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence, S. 465(1)(c)
  • Arson, S. 434

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on January 22nd, 2026.

1 Dead -19 Year Old Arrested

(ETOBICOKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Toronto Detachment is appealing to the public for witnesses and information following a fatal collision on Highway 401 eastbound near Dixon Road in Etobicoke.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles and a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) truck.

The MTO truck was parked behind a disabled passenger vehicle, when a second passenger vehicle collided into them. As a result of the collision, one individual that was ejected from the second passenger vehicle was taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased. One individual from the disabled passenger vehicle, one individual from the MTO vehicle, and another individual from the second passenger vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the second passenger vehicle, a 19-year-old from Vaughan, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

–      Dangerous operation causing bodily harm

–      Dangerous operation causing death

The OPP continues to investigate this incident and believe that other vehicles may have been involved and racing just prior to the collision.

Ilie IONCILA & Nicoleta GEORGESCU Arrested – Details Released

(ETOBICOKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB) has charged two people in connection with fraudulent activity at a Greater Toronto Area casino.

On February 24, 2025, members of the IEB, attached to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), initiated an investigation into allegations of fraud involving payouts using counterfeit tickets.

As a result of the investigation, two people have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Ilie IONCILA, age 52 of Thornhill, has been charged with:

• Uttering forged documents

• Theft over $5,000

• Fraud over $5,000

Nicoleta GEORGESCU, age 41 of Thornhill, has been charged with:

• Uttering forged documents

• Theft over $5,000

• Fraud over $5,000

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on June 25, 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
