Sleeping Driver Arrested For Impaired

(ENGLEHART, ON) – A person observed sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle near a school in Englehart, leads to one person being charged with impaired and drug possession.

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., members of the Englehart and Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a person who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on Third Street in Englehart.

The OPP located the vehicle and the occupant at the scene. As a result of the investigation, the occupant was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing with the assistance of a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Marcel WIDDIFIELD, 39 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession of Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine  

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on March 4, 2025.

Drug bust – Anthony HARRISON Arrested

(ENGLEHART, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with drug related offences.

On November 22, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., OPP responded to a trespassing incident on First Street in Englehart. The Investigation led officers to arrest a person who was found in possession of controlled substances.

Anthony HARRISON, 44-years-old from Englehart was charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of Schedule II Substance – other drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on January 7, 2025.

Hwy 11 Drug Bust – Names Released

(ENGLEHART, ON) – Cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cell phones were seized during a traffic stop on Highway 11.

On September 11, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the North East Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Kirkland Lake and Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11, south of Englehart.

Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. During the investigation, officers seized drugs suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of $18,000. Also seized were three cell phones, packaging and scales.

As a result of this investigation, Alexander ISHERWOOD 32-years-of-age of Swastika, Mark JAMIESON 35 years-of-age of Charlton, and Kyla KIPLING 27 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, were arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine.

All three accused persons were held in custody for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on September 11, 2024.
