Christopher (Chris) BINKS – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was arrested on Highway 108 after failing to make a corner, jumped a guardrail, and crashed into the ditch on a clear sunny day.  

On February 27, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of an impaired driver who crashed his car. The small green wagon was travelling northbound on Highway 108 towards Elliot Lake ski hill and failed to navigate a corner just before Nordic Mine Road. The driver emanated a strong odour of alcoholic beverage and numerous bottles of alcohol were observed in the vehicle and scattered inside and outside the wagon in the snow where the vehicle came to rest. The driver was subsequently arrested, where it was later revealed he was three and half times the legal limit. The vehicle was also later towed and impounded.   

Christopher (Chris) BINKS, 51-years-old, from Sudbury was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 9, 2026.

Raymond BROUILLARD – Aggravated Assault

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police arrest person after a family dispute at a Mississauga apartment.

On February 14, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to the apartment complex in relation to a person who was assaulted with a knife. The complainant reported a known male used a knife during an altercation inside the apartment. Police arrested the male and the complainant was taken to hospital, where they remain stable.   

Raymond BROUILLARD, 38-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with – Aggravated assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court February 15, 2026.

Charlene TURCOTTE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Hillside Drive South.

On February 10, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the white Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was spoken to who exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. They were subsequently arrested and the SUV was towed and impounded. 

Charlene TURCOTTE, 71-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 9, 2026.

David Brandon CANAVAN Busted Via ALPR

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with numerous offences.

On February 6, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers were on general patrol, Highway 108 Elliot Lake, when they received an expired plate notification from the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR). This alert was in relation to a black pickup truck being operated with an expired temporary plate. The pickup truck was subsequently stopped, driver charged, and vehicle towed.

David Brandon CANAVAN, 33-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Insecure load
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 20, 2026.

Bradley Dean COBB Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 1, 2026, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person during a traffic stop on Hillside Drive North.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. while on general patrol, police stopped a grey pickup truck after recognizing the driver and passenger. The passenger had a previous release condition to not be with the driver and he was subsequently arrested.

Bradley Dean COBB, 43-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on February 2, 2026.

Elliot Lake Drug Bust – Names Released

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On January 19, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at Axmith Avenue residence.   

In addition, police stopped a related small brown car on Highway 108 a short time later and arrested four people. Police seized approximately 18 grams of suspected Fentanyl, brass knuckles, switchblade, cash, a digital scale, and multiple cell phones.      

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), and East Algoma Detachment members were involved with the investigation and four people were arrested and charged with numerous offences.

Krystal ROL, 36-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – three counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Fail to comply with release order other than to attend court – two counts

Sheldon Michael SHAW, 28-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – three counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon

Sky Levi FOX, 30-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – three counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court – two counts
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

These three accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 12, 2026.

Sean Dylan HAWCO, 48-years-old, from Hanmer was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl – two counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – three counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – three counts
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

This accused person was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on January 20, 2026.

Michael HOLLANDY – Impaired Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police were called to a blue mid-size Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in a driveway with the driver passed out at the wheel on Washington Crescent.

On January 17, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the residence and spoke to the driver who exhibited signs of impairment. He was subsequently arrested and the SUV was towed and impounded. 

Michael HOLLANDY, 45-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 12, 2026.

Arianna WATSON Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Driver charged after traffic complainant from Philip Walk. 

On January 10, 2026, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving a Philip Walk bar. The red Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was stopped a short time later and female driver spoken to. Her roadside test registered an alert (7-day driver’s licence suspension) and was charged accordingly.  

Arianna WATSON, 23-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with – Drive motor vehicle, no licence.

Sky Levi FOX Was Arrested Again #3Strikes

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On January 9, 2026, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person on Hillside Drive South who was in breach of prior release conditions. 

At approximately 3:00 p.m. officers were on general patrol and recognized a small white Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from previous traffic complaints. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was breaching numerous release conditions from prior charges. He was subsequently arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Sky Levi FOX, 30-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with: 

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

• Driving while under suspension

• Failure to comply with Release Order – other than to attend court

• Fail to comply with Probation Order

• Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 12, 2026.

Kenneth (Ken) NEELY Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On December 15, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a mischief at a hospital.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., police were called to a hospital on Spine Road in relation to a person damaging property and being aggressive with staff. The person threw a bucket at an interior door window, shattering it, and destroyed a chair. In addition, the person was wanted for failing to appear in court. They were subsequently arrested and charged.     

Kenneth (Ken) NEELY, 47-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000 – two counts
  • Failure to attend court after having appeared

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on December 16, 2025.

Ethan BRISEBOIS – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police received a traffic complaint.

On December 15, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complainant regarding a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was observed on Ontario Avenue and a traffic stop conducted on Hillside Drive North. The driver emanated a strong odour of alcoholic beverage and cans of alcohol were observed in the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Austin ELSEMORE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police were called to a vehicle in the snowbank on Poplar Road at Lakeview Road. 

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the location and arrested the driver of the crashed grey pickup truck. The truck was consequently towed and impounded.  

Austin ELSEMORE, 29-years-old, from Alvin, Texas was charged with:

• Dangerous operation

Jacob PEART Was Arrested Again #3Strikes

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Driver charged after stopped for speeding on Highway 108.

On November 28, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for speeding. After speaking to the driver, police learned they were breaching a current Probation Order and had a suspended driver’s licence. 

Jacob PEART, 21-years-old, of Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:

• Breach of Probation Order

• Driving while under suspension

• Speeding 1 – 49 km/h over posted limit

• Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 19, 2026.

Heiko SCHMITZ – Cocaine Trafficking

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three people after a traffic stop on Ontario Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On November 28, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. Once stopped, the passenger was observed with a grinder and cannabis in hand. All three occupants were subsequently arrested and the vehicle search resulted in approximately 132 grams of suspected cocaine, almost $3000 in cash, numerous cell phones and suspected cannabis.    

Heiko SCHMITZ, 54-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

This accused person is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 15, 2026.

Flamur LAMA, 25-years-old, of Hamilton was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Fail to have insurance card

Quiara JOSEPH, 25-years-old, of Hamilton was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

These accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on November 29, 2025.

19 Year Old Facing Multiple Arson Charges #3Strikes

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to numerous fires in Elliot Lake between September 24, 2024, and July 8, 2025. 

Police investigated a series of arsons which occurred in the City of Elliot Lake resulting in numerous structure and motor vehicle fires. After a lengthy and comprehensive investigation, the OPP arrested a person on November 24, 2025.

Mattawa LAWRENCE, 19-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with four counts of Arson – damage to property.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on November 25, 2025.
