Wendy HICKS – Drunk Driving

 (EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment took another impaired driver off the road as the result of a R.I.D.E. check in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Oxford OPP set up a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on George Street in Innerkip.

As a result, Wendy HICKS, a 58-year-old resident of Woodstock, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Alcohol
  • Fail to Stop for Police

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

R.I.D.E. programs are set up at various locations during the day and night. They continue to prove to be helpful in getting impaired drivers off Oxford County roadways.

Paramjit WALIA – Drunk Driving

 (EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a traffic complaint, resulting in one person being charged with impaired driving.

On June 23, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of Oxford OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Oxford Road 4 in East Zorra- Tavistock Township.  

As a result of the investigation, Paramjit WALIA, a 55-year-old resident of Woodstock, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on July 29, 2025.

Daniel FIELDHOUSE Was Arrested

 (EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a traffic complaint, resulting in one person being charged with impaired driving.

On June 5, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of Oxford OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Blandford Street in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel FIELDHOUSE, a 54-year-old resident of the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock, has been charged with:

•        Dangerous Operation

•        Operation While Impaired

•        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on July 8, 2025.

Dangerous Impaired Driver Arrested – Prabhsimranjit Singh

(EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – An individual from Zorra Township is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a collision that occurred on Oxford Road 17, in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

On April 25, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Oxford Road 17, in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

Prabhsimranjit Singh, 21-years-old, of Zorra Township, has been charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Dangerous operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on May 27, 2025.

Cyclist Suffers Life Threatening Injuries In Hit & Run – Michael Book Arrested

(EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – Police are seeking the publics assistance with an ongoing fail to remain collision involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle.

On April 17, 2025, at 11:00 p.m., members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and East Zorra-Tavistock Fire Department responded to a report of a fail to remain collision on Blandford Street, in the Town of Innerkip.

A vehicle struck a cyclist and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The cyclist suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to local hospital.

On April 19, 2025, Michael Book, 60-years-old, of Woodstock, has been arrested and charged with: Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 10, 2025.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, who may have observed this collision, or who may have dashcam footage and/or video surveillance footage between the times of 10:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m., in the area of Blandford Street, can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

If you are involved in a motor vehicle collision on a highway or roadway in Ontario, it is your responsibility as the driver of the vehicle to remain at or immediately return to the scene of the collision, render assistance and exchange information in relation to the driver’s identity, vehicle and insurance information.

Police must be notified of collision if the combined damage to all vehicles exceeds $5,000 or there are injuries or there is damage to property.

Jeffrey Scheerer Facing Charges

(EAST-ZORRA TAVISTOCK, ON) – One person is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in the Township of East Zorra – Tavistock.

On March 18, 2025, members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrol on Highway 59 in the Township of East Zorra – Tavistock, where a vehicle was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Jeffrey Scheerer, 52-years-old of Woodstock, has been charged under the Criminal Code with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine.

Additionally, the accused was charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act:  

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

·      Improper number plate light

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on May 6, 2025.

Baljit Goraya – Drunk Driving

(EAST ZORRA – TAVISTOCK, ON) – An individual from Woodstock is facing impaired driving-related charges after being observed by an officer on proactive patrol.

On March 14, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a member of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment was on general patrol in the area of Highway 2 and 11th line in the Township of East Zorra – Tavistock, where a vehicle was stopped for swerving into oncoming lanes.

Baljit Goraya, 49-years-old, of the City of Woodstock, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
