2 Arrested In Drug Bust

(EAST FERRIS, ON) – Two individuals are facing multiple charges after police stopped a stolen vehicle and seized drugs.

On March 23, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling on Highway 17 when the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system detected a stolen vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and both the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of stolen property.

During a search incident to arrest, police seized suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and morphine, with an estimated street value of approximately $6,500. Also seized were five cell phones, a digital scale, drug packaging materials, an expandable baton, gift cards, and approximately $580 in Canadian currency. 

As a result of this investigation, William BOLESTRIDGE, 36 years-of-age of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – morphine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

Further, Christianne WABANO, 35 years-of-age of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – morphine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

Both accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 26, 2025.

Guy DEVOST – Drunk Driving

(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision was arrested by police for impaired driving.

On February 18, 2024, just after 2:00 a.m., a member of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a single vehicle in the ditch on Lake Nosbonsing Road in East Ferris Township while on their way to assist another officer.

Upon speaking to the driver, it was determined that they had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Guy DEVOST, a 38-year-old from East Ferris Township was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 12, 2024.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Christopher UPTON – Drunk Driving

(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver was stopped by police and was arrested for impaired driving.

On February 18, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m., the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was involved in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check when they observed a vehicle traveling on Astorville Road in East Ferris Township.

Officers stopped the vehicle and upon speaking to the driver it was determined that they had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher UPTON a 33-year-old from North Bay was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 12, 2024.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.  

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture
