Randy POE Arrested Again – Details Released

(COCHRANE, ON) – Police arrested one person after responding to multiple break and enter complaints.

On July 27, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at a commercial building on Fourth Avenue in Cochrane. Police responded quickly, and found evidence of a break in, however no persons were located inside the building. Evidence was collected to identify the suspect.

On August 8, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a call of a person breaking into vehicles in a commercial parking lot on Boisvert Crescent in Cochrane. The caller was able to identify the suspect, however, the suspect was gone upon police arrival.

Approximately 30 minutes later at 12:30 a.m., while searching for the suspect, police observed the suspect attempting to enter a residence on Fourth Street in Cochrane. The suspect was placed under arrest at this time.

Approximately 15 minutes after the arrest, police received another call reporting a person had broken into a home on Thirteenth Avenue. Police determined the suspect to be the person that was already in custody.

As a result of these investigations, Randy POE 24 years-of-age of Cochrane was charged with the following:

  • Theft Under $5000 (two counts)
  • Break and enter a place – commit indictable offence (three counts)
  • Fail to comply with probation order (seven counts)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Trespassing at night

The accused remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on August 8, 2024.

Remember to lock your vehicles and homes. Don’t make it easy for would-be criminals to victimize vehicle/home owners. Lock it or lose it.

Joshua AMOS – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic complaint led to criminal charges for one in Cochrane.

On August 2, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a vehicle driving at excessive speeds on Highway 11, south of Cochrane.

Police observed the vehicle on Third Avenue in Cochrane and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle proceeded through a roundabout in the wrong direction before coming to a stop on Second Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cochrane detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Joshua AMOS, 20 years of age of Timmins, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 5, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Martin JAMES – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired operation following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) initiative in Cochrane.

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members from the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle while conducting a RIDE initiative on Genier Road. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cochrane Detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Martin JAMES, aged 53 of Cochrane, has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The investigation revealed that the accused is a Sergeant with the OPP with 26 years of service, currently off on unrelated leave. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on August 13, 2024.

David BURGER – Cocaine

(COCHRANE, ON) – One arrested for driving on a disqualified licence, vehicle impounded for 45 days.

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Railway Street in Cochrane.

An investigation revealed the driver’s licence was disqualified under the criminal code, and the driver was arrested. A search incident to arrest yielded a small amount of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

As a result, David BURGER, 43 years-of-age of St. Catherines was charged with the following:

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine

The accused was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on August 13, 2024. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Aaron ARCHIBALD Was Arrested Again

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two people charged with weapons offences, after police responded to a disturbance in Cochrane.

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on a trail near Lake Commando in Cochrane. The caller reported that a person had brandished a handgun during a verbal dispute.

Police responded to the area; however the subject of the complaint was not located at the reported location. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and James Bay Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) were engaged to assist with the investigation.

Police located and arrested the accused person at a residence on Eleventh Avenue in Cochrane.

As a result of the investigation, Aaron ARCHIBALD, 28 years of age of Scarborough, was charged with:

·        Assault with a weapon

·        Carrying a concealed weapon

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon

·        Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

·        Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 19, 2024, in Cochrane.

Further investigation into the altercation resulted in Hazel MOORE, 21 years of age of Cochrane, being charged with:

·        Assault with a weapon

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 13, 2024, in Cochrane.

Brittany DEROUIN – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic stop on Highway 11, west of Cochrane led to the driver being charged for driving while impaired by alcohol.

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, observed swerving on Highway 11, west of Cochrane.

Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brittany DEROUIN, 30 years of age of Cochrane, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Restricted Weapon – 2 Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two arrests in three days in relation to possession of a prohibited weapon.

On June 10, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Fifth Street in the town of Cochrane, when an officer observed a person swinging nunchaku, a prohibited weapon.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Having open liquor in an unauthorized place

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024.

On June 12, 2024, shortly before 2:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a report of shoplifting from a business on Highway 11 West, in Cochrane.

Police located two persons a short time later in relation to the shoplifting complaint on Second Street in Cochrane.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Further, Erica TREPANIER, 31 years of age of Cochrane was found to be in possession of nunchaku, and was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Hit & Run – Bradley BLACKWELL Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – Several calls to police regarding an erratic driver hitting hydro pole, led to charges for impaired driving, dangerous driving, and fail to remain.

On April 26, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver on Third Street East in Cochrane. The vehicle was reported to have struck a hydro pole and continue driving, leaving a bumper behind. Two further calls came in to police reporting the same vehicle.

Police located the subject vehicle and driver a short time later and determined that the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Iroquois Falls detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bradley BLACKWELL, 24 years of age of Cochrane, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 28, 2024 in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Hwy 11 Drunk Driver Arrested – Name Released

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic stop conducted by the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) led to the driver being arrested for impaired driving.

On March 13, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed swerved within its lane, on Highway 11, south of Cochrane. 

Police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Iroquois Falls detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Dan KUZMICH, 64 years of age of Iroquois Falls, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 28, 2024 in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Jessyka VEILLEUX – Trespass, Hit & Run, Careless Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – Police arrested the driver of a motorized snow vehicle (MSV) that had fled the scene after colliding with a house.

On March 2, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the James Bay Police responded to a call of a MSV hitting the air conditioning unit of a home on Third Avenue in Cochrane. The driver had fled on foot prior to police arrival.

Police located and arrested the driver who was hiding in a near by shed, under a tarp. The driver’s licence was discovered to be suspended under the criminal code.

As a result of the investigation, Jessyka VEILLEUX, 34 years of age of Iroquois Falls, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Resist peace officer
  • Trespassing at night
  • Fail to report collision
  • Careless driving

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 9, 2024 in Cochrane.
