Misty Hilts Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Emily Provincial Park at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night to assist the Park Wardens with a disturbance coming from one of the campsites.

Once officers arrived on scene and spoke with multiple witnesses, the person of interest returned to their campsite in their vehicle. The investigating officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

45-year-old, Misty Hilts from Hiawatha First Nations was arrested and charged with

  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Misty was released from custody with a future court date and served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Collision Leads to Arrest

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended two collisions over the weekend and both resulted in the driver being charged with operation while impaired.

On June 21st, at approximately 6:00p.m a single vehicle roll-over occurred on County Road 121. Officers and other emergency services attended the scene. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene but with the help of the community, Officers were able to locate the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

Clayton Ward,46-year-old, from Whitby was arrested and charged with the following.

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain.
  • Careless Driving

Shortly after at 6:30p.m, OPP Officers responded to another collision in Bobcaygeon involving a Van and a Sedan. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer’s investigation found that the red van had been reported stolen, further the driver of the red van Giovanni Pellegrino, 53-year-old, from Toronto was arrested and charged with the following.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Careless driving
  • Driver fails to surrender licence
  • Fail to have insurance card.

Both parties were released from custody with a future court date, they were served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Hailey BOTH Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on June 19, 2024.

On June 19, 2024, at approximately 10:54 p.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Colborne Street in Fenelon Falls. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Hailey BOTH, 29-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation while Impaired

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Stephen Yarrow Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision in Kinmount over the weekend. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving offences.

65-year-old, Stephen Yarrow, of Hampton township was charged under the Criminal Code with:

•           Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

•           Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

In addition to the charges the drivers received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Meth Bust – 4 Arrested – Names Released

(City of Kawartha Lakes, ON) City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged 4 individuals after the result of a traffic stop early this morning.

An officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 1:30a.m on Lindsay Street in the town of Lindsay. The result of the traffic stop, lead the officer into an investigation into drug trafficking.

As a result of that investigation, Officers arrested and charged the following individuals.

38-year-old, Jeffrey Evans, of Lindsay with the following.

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine CDSA 5(2)

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

35-year-old, Carolanne Frost, of Peterborough with the following.

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine CDSA 5(2)

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (HTA 7(1)(a)

·      Fail to have insurance card (CAIA 3(1)

35-year-old, Katelyn Katcher, of Lindsay with the following.

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine CDSA 5(2)

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

·      Fail to properly wear seat belt.( HTA 106 (3)(b)

41-year-old, Christopher Thompson, of Cameron with the following.

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine CDSA 5(2)

·      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

They were released from custody with conditions and will appear in Court in Lindsay on a later date.

Desiree STEFANICK – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency response services responded to a single-vehicle roll over on Summer Drive road in Little Britain on June 11th, 2024, at approximately 7:30p.m.

The investigating officer located the white Acura in the ditch, the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene at this point and went to a nearby residence.

The driver was later located by officers. Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer entered into an impaired driving investigation. The drive of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Subsequently, Desiree STEFANICK, 26 years-old, from Innisfil, was arrested and charged with the following offences;

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Careless driving

·      Novice Driver-B.A.C above zero

·      Fail to remain.

The accused was released from custody with a future court date, was served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Lawrence TITUS Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint near Fowlers Corners over the weekend. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving offences and additional charges.

Lawrence TITUS, 35-year-old of SELWYN township was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·      Dangerous operation

In addition to the charges, the drivers received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days

Another traffic complaint over the weekend in Fenelon Falls lead to an investigation where the 17-year-old youth driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving offences and additional charges.

·      YPC Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver- B.A.C above zero

·      Young driver- B.A.C above zero

·      Drive motor-vehicle-perform stunt

In addition to the charges, the drivers received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 14 days

Thurston Dowse Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on May 01, 2024.

On May 01, 2024, at approximately 3:18pm, an officer during a traffic stop on Ski Hill Road in Omemee entered into an impaired driving investigation. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act Offences.

Thurston Dowse, 27-year-old of St. Catherine’s, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Drive Motor Vehicle Perform Stunt Excessive Speed
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
  • Careless Driving

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

Joseph Armstrong Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on May 04, 2024.

On May 04, 2024, at approximately 5:16pm, officers responded to a call for service regarding a driving complaint. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charges for impaired driving offences.

Fatal Collision

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that took place around 1:38pm on May 04, 2024.

Police along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Mount Horeb Road near Lilac Road. The driver of the motorcycle, a 73-year-old male of Pontypool, was pronounced deceased in hospital.

Mount Horeb Road remains closed between Hogsback Road and Old Mill Road while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

William DENBY – Threats

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service (KLPS) have conducted a joint investigation resulting in charges being laid against a 65-year-old from Fenelon Township.

On April 25, 2024, William DENBY was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Criminal Harassment
  • Uttering Threats
  • Intimidation of a Justice System Participant

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Nikoletta HALASZ Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 24, 2024, after a driver approached officers that were at a call for service.

On April 24, 2024, at approximately 12:06 a.m., officers attended a call for service on Pleasant Point Road. While on scene, a motor vehicle approached, and the driver spoke with officers where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Nikoletta HALASZ, 39-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Brandon Fisher Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 23, 2024 after a traffic complaint.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 01:28 a.m., officers received a traffic complaint of an ATV speeding up and down residential roads. Officers conduced a traffic stop on the motor vehicle in a residential area of Omemee. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Brandon Fisher, 28-year-old of Omemee, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
  • Failed to Wear Proper Helmet
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device
  • Drive Motor Vehicle No Plates
  • Unlawfully Drive Off Road Vehicle on Highway
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

More Drunk Drivers

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had a busy weekend with enforcing Impaired Driving Laws on our highways.

On April 19, 2024, at 10:49 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 7, Ops Township, for a Highway Traffic Act offence, where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Mitchell HAID, 30-year-old of Keswick, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

On April 20, 2024, at 11:03 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in Bobcaygeon, where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Ryan TUCKER, 34-year-old of Trent Lakes, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

On April 21, 2024, at 01:51 a.m., officers attended a single motor vehicle collision in Coboconk, the driver, a single occupant of the vehicle, was not injured. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Kevin Douglas, 27-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges all drivers received a 90 day licence suspension and the motor vehicles were impounded for 7 days.

Courtney BRAY Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 11, 2024.

On April 11, 2024, at approximately 00:41 a.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 35 at Highway 7 that entered a RIDE program after almost causing a head on collision while approaching the RIDE program. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Courtney BRAY, 30-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:
